THE 1HAPPY HAUNT

Behind all the fun front facades most of the parks dark rides are just big boxes, Haunted Mansion is a big box, Pirates is a big box, It’s a Small World is a big box, etc, etc… we just don’t care because we never see the box.

This is no different, the people staying at the hotel will never see the truck, they’ll go from a themed spaceport, through an “airlock” into a “transport”, and through another “airlock” into Galaxy’s edge. They’ll never see the outside of the vehicle so unless they read blogs they’ll never know they’re actually in a big box on the back of a truck.
They will because you can decorate a truck anyway you want but it still moves like a truck. Makes stops like a truck. Will make the sounds of a truck.

You know, hindsight is 20/20. I have no real problems with the box truck exterior looking like a box truck. Just like I don't have any problems with realizing the exterior of the Haunted Mansion's stretch rooms are full of pulleys and cables and (at Disneyland) massive elevator mechanisms.

But... They probably should have disguised the box truck better. Give it a quickie decal treatment that makes it look inoccuous instead of suspicious.

I'm reminded of that scene in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind when the US government moved all that equipment to Devil's Tower before the aliens got there. They disguised all the secret government trucks as belonging to Baskin-Robbins and Piggly Wiggly and McDonald's, etc. to not panic the locals. :D

To be fair it was only spotted as a drone photographed it at the hotel? Had that not happened then we probably wouldn't even know it was connected to the ride. The obsession some have at finding fault in everything is quite staggering.

If it's poorly executed and we find out when it opens, then it deserves being slated. If not, then it doesn't. I think some would be happier if Disney had contacted a vehicle manufacturer and had a vehicle specially commissioned purely so it didn't look like a normal truck? If they had I'm sure we'd get complaints how this vehicle now 'stood out' and everyone seeing it would be saying "Ooh look the Star Wars special vehicle that's supposed to make those inside feel like they're in space, why didn't they use a normal truck that didn't stand out instead of having one specially designed. It ruins the immersion"?

You can decorate a warehouse all you want, Walt, and it's just a giant industrial warehouse. No way, Walt, will your guests get a sense they're in an intimate gothic mansion or in an open graveyard. It's just a box, Walt!! It will always feel like some giant, lifeless, commercial warehouse!!!! If you want a haunted mansion, you have to actually build a mansion and not just have some loops of chain drag some sort of seats through flimsy partitions. Guests will know they're just being dragged along through fake hallways!!!! And it has to go outside through an actual fully built graveyard. No one will believe a graveyard scene in some sort of... box!!!! You're just some sort of money-pinching cheapskate who doesn't care about theming by putting so many rides in a box!!!!!!1!1

You know what, that moving walkway idea sounds so much better than this.

In non-box truck news, Starcrusin’ costume items have popped up on ShopDisney.

I’d argue making them for sale online negates any “exclusivity”, but that’s me. EDIT: I didn’t scroll all the way down, these are only for sale to those with a reservation to go Starcrusin’.

Guest-exclusive costumes are now up on Shop Disney, in case anyone wants to quell their doubts with a little retail therapy. Only purchasable by those with a reservation 60 days out.
The cows are in the milking parlor all lined up and the machines are being attached. Let the fun begin

Uhh - no its not. That is a chassis cab truck platform. Just like mechanics build from, ambulances, specialized crane trucks etc.

basically they are a plaform intended to be built out by the customer or a company that builds custom products. It’s basically an open platform used by companies besides the actual vehicle manufacturer.

it’s a disney box on a truck frame
But I don't think they're doing very much at all with it.
Certainly not installing some built in flight simulator.

Pretty sure those costumes are for the "I can't believe I'm doing this" spouse and to lure in kids. There are so many Star Wars costumes out there at all price levels already...

Well, if you have money to burn for this "experience", you'll shell out a little more for these costumes.
