Seriously, why is everyone going nucking futs over urine filled swimming pool?
Will tentacles be included? If not thats a dealbreaker for me
Feel free to take that up with Disney - they are the ones going out of their way to not refer to it as a mere “hotel”, since it is clearly their intention that it not be perceived that way by guests. The conversation related to "is it an hotel or not" has nothing to do with the pool or not.
The convo was the stubborness to claim that this starcruiser experience was "not an hotel".
I am purposely remaining skeptical regarding the potential awesomeness of this resort. My hope is that it's truly a destination in itself and not just a hotel with Star Wars decor everywhere.
That being said, after having just watched the first installment of The Book of Boba, if the Starcruiser folks want some help tweaking things to improve the Star Wars look and feel, they need to put Filoni and Favreau on speed dial.
OK, then. I swim corrected. That was shot at a different location but made to seem like the Plaza Hotel. Movie magic…

One that we know of...The Halcyon is in space, not Florida.
How many interstellar spacecraft have pools?
Except we all know what happened to the pool on the Avalon...Finally! This depiction of a pool would fit very well in a Star Wars Luxury Galactic cruise space vessel. The Corellian's construct gargantuan, imposing space vessels (it's what they do) why not? Too bad the Halcyon was not constructed to be a top-of-the-line luxury Galactic Cruise vessel. A pool would not be practical / reasonable for the current Galactic Cruise immersive experience concept.
Except we all know what happened to the pool on the Avalon...
If we're going to create in our minds what people do on spaceships from other planets, ok. But what if pools are just an Earth thing?Because we have never seen a luxury large ship? I mean.. the closest thing we got was the Naboo Luxury corvette/frigate, which was tiny.
Even the princess Leia was seen flying frigates and one time she was in a cruiser? but it was a Mon Calamari war cruiser ( Rogue One).
Or in the "new" trilogy where she is on a large military transport vessel.
While, like most, I’m less than enthused with what we’ve been shown so far, I’m amazed by the amount of schadenfreude surrounding the Galactic Starcruiser. While I have yet to see anything that makes me want to spend the $ required, I still think this could be a huge development in themed entertainment. A lot of Disney fandom seems to bemoan that fact that Disney doesn’t “lead the way” anymore, but then turn around criticize them for doing so. Even if it isn’t a spectacular success, I’m still pleased they tried to push the envelope.

I do not see "a pool" as a make or break, critically important or essential. I do not see hate being generated because there is no pool. The current projected Star Cruiser experience was never designed to have a pool and the schedule of events / experiences / LARPing does not allow time to make much use of and enjoy a pool. All that said, I thoroughly enjoy the good-natured banter, discussion, jokes and ideas of what could have been in reference to a pool. I do see a lot of disappointment with the generic unimaginative and underwhelming product that is emerging, something that was to have been high end immersive entertainment but not evolving that way. Yet! Disney is charging a high-end price. Folk's do not like being looked at as gullible. If we're going to create in our minds what people do on spaceships from other planets, ok. But what if pools are just an Earth thing?
I'm just getting mixed up between people saying the ship doesn't look Star Wars enough but also should have features we've never seen in Star Wars. Maybe there are multiple factions but some of the hate is inconsistent
Exactly. It’s reinventing the Disney experience to maximixe profit and shove modern IP down the customers throats. Some posters would argue that the apparent problems the Starcruiser is experiencing are extensions of problems plaguing the resort in general.
I certainly don’t see any luxury in those cabins.Interesting how according to the back story for the Halcyon.
“The Halcyon star cruiser is the jewel of the Chandrila Star Line. Onboard the 100-cabin Corellian MPO-1400 model star cruiser, you’ll voyage to the far reaches of the galaxy in legendary comfort and style. Recently refurbished and reoutfitted, the star cruiser combines modern conveniences with the romance of the age of exploration.” ― Chandrila Star Line.
Yet the project imaginEars did not produce a product living up to their own story concept. Maybe, the project imaginEars should follow their own story line and refurbish plus refit the Star Cruiser experience.
Unless you spring for a suite at a significant extra cost, luxury cruise liner cabins are definitely *not* luxurious.I certainly don’t see any luxury in those cabins.
Technically, the talk about the pool has nothing to do if the hotel looked like star wars or not. It was just a grievance that for the insane price.. it should at least have some spa amenities. If we're going to create in our minds what people do on spaceships from other planets, ok. But what if pools are just an Earth thing?

I did not know you would go to an Hospital for accommodations, tourism or entertainment. But ok.Feel free to take that up with Disney - they are the ones going out of their way to not refer to it as a mere “hotel”, since it is clearly their intention that it not be perceived that way by guests.
It’s an “immersive 48 hour role play experience”, not mere overnight lodging with amenities. Whether or not any of us agree that it looks like a GOOD one is irrelevant - by design it is not a “hotel”.
A Hospital is not a Hotel simply because it has a lobby and you can sleep there.
Even those don’t look luxurious, they just look like they’ve got more space.Unless you spring for a suite at a significant extra cost, luxury cruise liner cabins are definitely *not* luxurious.
