Were you saying no about the suites, or agreeing that the Disney ships aren't luxury?

I personally think cruises are terrible, so I'm not exactly an expert on all the different ships, but I remember seeing something about one luxury cruise ship that was entirely suites. That could be an outlier.
Love the Disney Cruise! Hoping to try the Wish this summer

I did not know you would go to an Hospital for accommodations, tourism or entertainment. But ok.
Of course you wouldn't, because it has a designated purpose that's different from a hotel.

The Star Cruiser is designed to entertain and accomodate tourists, but is not meant to be viewed simply as a "hotel", and therefore has different accomodations. Pretty simple. But feel free to keep missing the point if you want, this really is the least interesting part of the conversation around this whole enterprise.

Nope, lots smaller with a higher crew to guest ratio
Depends on the liner I suppose. Viking for example, all rooms are ocean view. And yes, they have a much higher crew to guest ration.
Megaships have a 4:1 to 12:1 ratio of guests to crew and have a large amount of cheap cabins and internal cabins.
While the super high luxury ones have like 1:1 to 4:1

I think trying to be some sort of luxury experience was a mistake. Star Wars is known for its grittiness and scoundrels and it seems it would have been better for the Halcyon to be a bit of a “con,” a tiny little ship with a less than reputable captain trying to pass off a “hunk of junk” as a luxury cruise. The captain could regale you with stories of heroic deeds at any and all major events because she wasn’t actually there. Smuggling or illicit activities would explain the inevitable boarding by the First Order better than yet another spy. It’d explain why you’re going down on to a dinky outpost at the edge of the galaxy, the lack of amenities, etc.
I do wonder how the storyline is going to explain why passengers on a high end cruise would risk an excursion to a shady outpost like Black Spire?

In my experience, half the stops on our Caribbean cruise have warnings to only stay in the safety of the touristy-trappy area. Just a few blocks further into town and one is in a sketchy neighborhood.

Those on the Halcyon excursion are getting dropped off in the area under the First Order supervision with troopers walking about. Stay close to the market and the restaurant and cantina, and you'll be safe. Definitely don't wander off into the woods where there are reports of rebels, or giant space toys...

Ports are not the riverwalks of most places. Look at Miami......

True, but the analogy here is a cruise excursion, where you leave the cruise liner to stop off at Port-au-Prince, Willemstad, Curacao, Falmouth, Philipsburg, etc...
? This is the official published story line "Before the invention of hyperspace travel, Batuu was a busy stop for travelers to trade or refuel as they passed through the Outer Rim or journeyed into Wild Space. However, with the rise of the hyperdrive and new hyperspace routes that bypassed the planet, it instead became home to those who did not want to be found. The outpost evolved into a thriving spaceport for smugglers, rogue traders, and adventurers traveling between the galactic frontier and uncharted space. Eventually, Chandrila Star Line began operating luxury cruises in the region for travelers who sought adventure and comfort on their expeditions." Make of it what you will.

I guess that works.

Wait, what? I have no experience with the EU, or any other post-Disney books, but how much pre-hyperspace history has ever been discussed in canon?

So the backstory of Batuu relies on non-hyperspace interstellar travel? 🤦‍♂️

Why … wha … how … oh nevermind. This thread doesn’t need any further derailment arguing over non-FTL interstellar travel. Next thing you know, we’ll be discussing travel times to Bespin and un-mentioned “backup” hyperdrives.

Not to mention that Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs...
