Hotels in Manhattan generally don't have pools.
Ok...how many 6000 dollar hotels in florida dont have pools....context matters....nobody expects to be swimming in NYC. Florida is not NYC.

Then you're missing that naive gullibility that marks the true Disney nerd.A Star Wars fan with money to burn like myself is the market. I won't burn it because a fool and their money are soon...well you know.
I'd be more comfortable with calling it a "venue," one designed for a specific purpose that meets most of the requirements to be called a hotel (and which could easily be repurposed as a hotel should the Star Wars LARPing thing fall through). It has accomodations aka rooms, it has a restaurant, it has a lobby.. its a GODDARN hotel with advanced themed.
Not need to run loops and make gymnastics over this.
It's not 6000 because it's a luxury resort with an infinity pool. It's 6000 because it has live actors and role playing elements in a themed environment with bedding, showers, park tickets and food provided.Ok...how many 6000 dollar hotels in florida dont have pools....context matters....nobody expects to be swimming in NYC. Apparently, you've never seen Home Alone 2...
The Halcyon is in space, not Florida.Ok...how many 6000 dollar hotels in florida dont have pools....context matters....nobody expects to be swimming in NYC. Florida is not NYC.
OK, OK, OK since the focus is on a pool, and this is supposed to be a creme de la creme luxury immersive Star Wars Galactic Space cruise why not (just a suggestion) go big and do it right refurbish the whole thing and add a SPA Deck! complete with a galactic wet bar! Since the ship has artificial gravity there are no issues with floating away water. Yep! have a sauna section, hot tub section, pool section and a massage section attended by Twi 'Lek servants. No cheap generic sci fi esthetics either from flooring to walls or ceiling / lighting do it in proper Star Wars detail. Make the experience worthy of the price tag. Give the people what they want not a cheap product some low brow executives want to dole out and over price. Just a little creativity and imagination is needed plus no skimping.Ok...how many 6000 dollar hotels in florida dont have pools....context matters....nobody expects to be swimming in NYC. Finally! This depiction of a pool would fit very well in a Star Wars Luxury Galactic cruise space vessel. The Corellian's construct gargantuan, imposing space vessels (it's what they do) why not? Too bad the Halcyon was not constructed to be a top-of-the-line luxury Galactic Cruise vessel. A pool would not be practical / reasonable for the current Galactic Cruise immersive experience concept.Passengers movie Starship had a pool.
This is a picture of the set.
Make the ceiling a planetarium and show space there as well as out the back window and it would be a seriously amazing pool.
Worthy of that 6k price tag.
Are there a lot of pools in the extended universe? This whole line of thought confuses me. I've never seen a pool in a star wars movie. I can only imagine how bad the criticism would have been if they included one.

Those elements may not be worth it (to be seen since no one has experienced it).
A poorly produced Disney commercial does not show the experience. I'll give yhe theming of the corridors looks bad, especially compared to the concept art. But, that commercial was your typical Disney cringe marketing that wasn't produced and edited to feel like a star wars experience/movie. And that is the crux of the problem with marketing. It is to be seen if the experience is worth it.
Fair point. In that thought process there are no Galactic "Cruise" vessels in the movies either there are transport vessels. There are depictions of luxury / resort / pleasure planets that put Vegas to shame though. To stay true to the movies a vessel taking guests / travelers to a luxury entertainment / vacation / properly theme (no skimping) planet for a short stay then transporting them back to earth would have worked well and been made more worth the hefty outlay of credits. The Galactic Star cruiser concept is out of the box inspiring unfortunately not accompanied with out of the box creativity, attention to detail and presentation. It's OK to go of script just be careful how. I believe it's called creative license. Are there a lot of pools in the extended universe? This whole line of thought confuses me. The conversation related to "is it an hotel or not" has nothing to do with the pool or not. It's a hotel . . . themed to a spaceship. One that doesn't have a pool. So the hotel doesn't have a pool.
I hardly think I'm the person in this thread "running loops".
Well, you can't go to the pool. But, you CAN go to the planet simulator (outside) and sit with the other smokers. Sounds fun!I get what Disney is going for but at the end of the day no matter what Disney says...its a hotel. Not a cruise. You are not on the ocean or actually in space. And on real cruises there is no pre mandated itinerary on the ship. You are free to roam around and do what you want. Even if you make a stop to go on shore you are free to go where you want just have to be back on time. There is no ' you go to ronto roasters at this time then go to Rise of the Resistance at this time." This is a hotel on planet Earth. Let's cut the crap. A expensive one they have marketed horrifically. But on this 'cruise' you can't breath without it being planned. They plan when you eat. This is not a real cruise. This thing has been marketed for 5 year olds not the parents who have been life long Star Wars fans who want to be in that world and have the money to spend to do it. adults go to this thing too and adults like relaxing at a pool on a cruise and at a hotel. It should be up to the people if they want to do anything. Want to go to Batuu? Cool, we have 'shuttles' that leave and return every half hour up until 9pm. Spend all day there if you want. Want to go play Sabaac (or however the way it is spelled)? Play it all day in our lounge. Your choice. You want to do Lightsaber training? Your choice. Sign up for one of your available slots. Etc. Some would rather chill at the pool. Not to have that option is stupid. Having everything planned out is stupid. Not everyone wants to play a stupid card game or dodge fake flashlight lazers with a lightsaber. This is nooo cruise. Its a hotel and a sorry themed one at that.
Because we have never seen a luxury large ship? I mean.. the closest thing we got was the Naboo Luxury corvette/frigate, which was tiny. Are there a lot of pools in the extended universe? What, no mud baths at the Grand Floridian spa?
Or how about a pool from the Dune universe?
