This is a real opportunity for Uni, though I know they aren’t going to take it. They should open a heavily-themed but not cruise-like Potter themed hotel, charge prices that are absurd but not as absurd as Disney’s, and come out looking like the good guys.

I mean, I love theme parks, theme hotels, Disney, and Star Wars. And I’m willing to spend unwisely. And yet this just holds no appeal.

Fair enough. But I will say that if people complain that there's not enough "value" in what you get from the experience, it would be easy to tweak it to include reservations to one or both of those shops during your excursion to Batuu to entice future guests. I mean, easier than actually adding stuff to the resort proper.
When shops need reservations you have built your themed land poorly.

People's heads are exploding over these prices and it's sorta funny.
Since the package includes access to GE, will there be a small discount for AP holders? I understand there may not be a discount for DVC members unless there is a point offer. Of course it's more likely selling your points to others will be a better idea. $6,000 at $15.00 a point would still be 400 points and would take almost all my yearly points for just 2 nights, not a good idea because I would have to stay at Bonnett Creek for my normal visits.

No way.

It’s hard enough to justify to others my expenditures for several days at WDW. Try explaining 5-6 grand equivalent to being sequestered in your hotel and one area of a theme park over two days.

Half a day in one park so... maybe $60 off your stay?

Would that move the needle enough for you to book?

I don't think there will be any discounts for anyone until they feel like they have to give discounts.

100 rooms is a very small number to fill so I think whether or not they discount, really comes down to how good or bad the reports are from their early paying guests

If they do start having to discount, that indicates they either screwed up something big time with the planning/pricing if it's within the first few years or it's time to do some serious updates if attendance begins to sag but not plummit at full price half a decade+ in.

I'm actually a bit surprised in the lack of included alcohol. Seems like that would be an easy thing to include to make the price seem more "worth it". They could even include basic alcohol like some sort of beer and wine and have people pay out of pocket for fancier specialty cocktails. I wonder if the motivation was to avoid having people get intoxicated and mess up the "Show" for other guests? 🤷‍♂️ (I know, I know, it was just to have another revenue stream.)

Of interest, the fine print suggests that the meal in Galaxy's Edge does include an alcoholic beverage for adults

Can't really do a "Droid Racing Competition" without a Droid, so that may be a way to entice guests to spend more.
Then there's the Sebbac card game tournament, so may need to purchase a deck.

Is it just me or does a sabbac tournament and droid racing both sound like star wars gambling. The hotel is starting to sound like the casino planet from the last jedi

I think you forgot the sarcasm/satire font...
Did not
They won't reach peak wealth until after their parents are dead. They'll spend on amusements until they either die or can no longer walk themselves, just like their parents and grandparents. Then their kids will spend on those interests cause "dad would've loved this" or "it was fun when dad and I did this."
What the…hell?

“they won’t reach peak wealth until after their parents are dead?”

what is this: the landed aristocracy?

it’s Disney world!! Mass destination for Westerners…not the billionaires playground

the average person spends the most on this type of thing in their prime parent years…which are the 40s…the Star Wars old guard is there right now…and we have by far spent more to build the sucker…that particular “baton” won’t be passed in the way it’s often assumed. Diminishing returns.

how old are you? And what branch of the Vanderbilt estate will you receive your “peak wealth” from…so you comfortably put on a Jedi robe and do cosplay?
