So this isn't a hotel you stay at to visit the parks? Seems lame. You sit around and play cards?

If I had 6 grand to drop I'd rather go somewhere nice.
Yeah, I'll take 5 nights in an overwater Polynesian bungalow over this, please.

(By Polynesian bungalow, I mean in actual French Polynesia.)

This is a real opportunity for Uni, though I know they aren’t going to take it. They should open a heavily-themed but not cruise-like Potter themed hotel, charge prices that are absurd but not as absurd as Disney’s, and come out looking like the good guys.
some sort of camp hogwarts for little wizards would print kts own money I’m sure. Star Wars hotel sounds more geared to mum and dad and than family fun

Totally agree that this is what the hotel and its guests deserve, but knowing Disney they'll try to get by with the basics as much as possible.

I suspect early days will be good just for the sake of the press/bloggers, but even then, I don’t expect this to be as high quality and as truly immersive as some people are thinking. Disney’s thing lately is not-so-great experiences sold as premium experiences at comparatively high prices.

But I’d love to be wrong.

The usual reasons. “Wasting” money at WDW which could be spent on other trips around the US or int’l trips. Think about it. I spent less than that on a “study tour” to Israel in 2017 for slightly less than two weeks. Now try explaining the same for being sequestered in a SW hotel and one land of HS for two days. I couldn’t justify it to myself much less anyone else.

Same! Ditto with Sabacc cards. But you know if you got to keep something, they would have mentioned it.
It's funny, I love the original Star Wars films more than anything, and this hotel does nothing for me. What is Star Wars about it? It's just an outer space theme.

Where are the characters and creatures I love? Why did Disney buy the Star Wars IP to make a generic space themed hotel?

Of course, I’m not a Star Wars geek, but I couldn’t imagine doing this for Marvel, Frozen, Toy Story, any Disney IP.

Ironically, the concept feels like something that could be executed incredibly for Harry Potter (no surprise, this one's been mentioned already). But at that cost? No thanks.

You get to keep your magic...I mean data...band!
Those sneaky you-knows!

Now it all makes sense! First, they start charging resort guests for parking, then they get rid of complementary magic bands...

... then they start offering a premium experience that includes, what? FREE PARKING AND FREE MAGIC BANDS!

That's it, I expect a resort fee is eminent prior to the opening of this experience and "no resort fees" being one of the benefits since, you know, it's not a resort. o_O

Teaching family to play Sabaac Cards? Sounds like those fun Thanksgiving nights teaching board games to family. Ending up with a few liquored up participants screaming at each other, another whining for a "do-over" because they did not understand the rules, and me hiding in the basement because it's just too damn loud.

All for only $6K??? Rather stick my face in a blender.

I mean, I love theme parks, theme hotels, Disney, and Star Wars. And I’m willing to spend unwisely. And yet this just holds no appeal.
Meh, I think Ubi would have more success w a Jurassic themed Hotel.
Is it just me or does a sabbac tournament and droid racing both sound like star wars gambling. The hotel is starting to sound like the casino planet from the last jedi
When a vessel is out of earthy territorial space maritime law, in this case space law, would apply No? So it could be a casino! Like I said before give Sabaac tournament some teeth i.e. you win the tournament the Star Cruiser experience is free. That would be some incentive to play the game seriously.

A few pages back I mentioned $5K bought me a used Honda that lasted me a decade and I actually got mocked for it. If people want to go and spend that kind of money for a 2 night Star Wars experience then all the more power to them.

We all have blood on our hands (a little Trandoshan here, a little humanoid there). We fed the corporate beast and look what it’s wrought. Congratulations, all!
