Just like all the talk of her being fired for the past several years?
Do you really believe she will stay on at Lucasfilm? I don't think she will get fired at all, Disney doesn't have the stones. I believe she'll get the, we wish her well in her future endeavors speach. But I would be shocked beyond belief if she ushers in any new movies under the star wars banner.

No...on his behalf I don’t believe he believes that...

But many Disney fans tend to ONLY believe Disney as well...take everything they say at face value. It’s a habit hard to break.

It’s never gonna be believed if they give “official” excuses.

I’ll give a good example:
Some still are clinging to the corporate excuses to the lack of demand for the Star Wars lands at rollout...when the only possible major reasons are:
1. Price miscalculations (Disneyland fans always carry the banner in exposing that)
2. Increasing apathy toward Star Wars.

Trust your eyes...and the brain will follow

And not to agree with Scorp...but Kennedy has fortified herself with new age SJW element in the entertainment press and twitterverse.

Iger knows this...so he couldn’t fire her then or now...
But he can reassign her and let the contract run with the NDA intact.

Hell yeah. Im saying this now so if it happens we can dispense with the BS corporate excuses. Call it out and it will liberate you.

Last Action Hero Luke would have been an atrocious thematic decision.
It wasn't for the 30 plus years of legends books written about him. I don't think we all wanted OP all great and powerful Luke who can do no wrong. You have to remember, we were told Luke is the greatest hero of the galaxy for the last 30 or so years.. so when Disney just snaps its fingers and says nah! It will throw a lot of people for a loop.. If they want to change it, you have to change the story more subtle and not as drastic as they did.

Her contract is up in '21. She's of retirement age. She will retire and a certain group will congratulate themselves for getting her fired upon her retirement.

So there’s a mandatory retirement age in Hollywood now?

Damn...scorcese and Spielberg are done now too...

Damn!!

So she’s in charge of a studio responsible for two of the biggest film franchises in history...who are currently not really working on films?

And then she’s gonna retire next year...hmmmm 🤔

This reeks of “this isn’t my Star Wars”.

You're right. She'll be around a long time with the success of the Mandalorian. In fact, she should get a bonus.

Haha...I like the new you...

For a second there...after all the pompous defense of her for two years...I thought the “new reason” was being portrayed as her “playing out the string” after it became clear the last Johnson did all the damage we “haters in our moms basement” feared...

Underestimated - actually.

Well played 😎

So you think she will retire and stay retired? I think if her plan was retirement, she would have said as much a long time ago. Even If she isn't working at Lucasfilm, I believe she will continue to work. Yea some will say they got her fired. But in reality her handling of the brand will be the reason she isn't ushering in the post skywalker era of star wars.

This reeks of “this isn’t my Star Wars”.

I got an honest question...and believe it or not I don’t Have a predetermined answer:

Maybe it’s time to drop “not my Star Wars” as a complaint/counterargument?

Maybe we should just leave Star Wars in its time and place in the 20th century and play to that...lm serious. Somethings don’t necessarily have to lead to progress.

And maybe...by default...it may get there as the audience changes naturally...

Not to mention...look at our society (US)...we have gone from advancing at a rapid pace to DEVOLVING socially in a devade.

Maybe things don’t change based on “will”...perhaps it’s more organic?

Just a thought

I think “not my Star Wars“ is a dumb criticism, because there isn’t nor should be a set definition of what it is, but when people throw out accusations of people not understanding or getting Star Wars, that’s what they’re saying. I tend not to give those thoughts much credence.

What made Luke a true hero was the fact that, like his poor departed mother, he was the only person in the galaxy who still believed his father had good in him. Wars not make one great.
And then his immediate reaction to his nephew was to kill him. Also, keep in mind his nephew hadn’t actually done anything yet. He only looked into his mind and saw a bit of darkness.

People are still arguing about The Last Jedi on this thread about The Rise of Skywalker? Quit your whining, boomers, and accept that Luke Skywalker is true hero with depth and not just some shallow, all-powerful being!

Anyway, I just wanted to say Episode IX should've opened with "Hope has returned to the galaxy! The legend of Luke Skywalker has spread, inspiring systems to join the Resistance," given that's what's set up at the end of The Last Jedi, you know, because Luke's an awesome hero in that movie.

That's all.

No, he looked into his mind and saw what had been polluting it. His greatest enemy, Palpatine. It hit a familiar nerve in him, so he reacted defensively in the moment. A cooler head prevailed, but by then it was too late. He never realized what he’d actually seen, and it broke him.
