Star Tours II in 3D for 2011 CONFIRMED

Eh. I think this one is cool.

I think all that NextGen stuff is silly and will ultimately prove a waste of a billion dollars and time, but little touches like this ARE cool and appreciated by many guests.

Example, I can't tell you how many times the very first thing someone says about "ET" is, "Is that the one where he says your name?"

Another is Harry Potter - people find the projection of the guests effect there thrilling.

In this case, it gives yet another reason to ride again (sort of like a bonus game once you've gotten all the versions). A lot of guests will appreciate something like this, unlike many of the other "NextGen" initiatives.

I agree with what you say, except i can see people not wanting to do this ride because they wouldn't want to be the "wanted" passenger (me included!), just like some people don't like doing Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor cause they won't want to be "that guy". I'm not gonna get upset about this or anything, it does sound like a cool feature, but I can see myself getting stressed now......(I'm still going on the ride though!!!!)

Disneyland's Star Tours has one new Starspeeder finished, while the other three race to completion over the next week. Hundreds of Disneylanders rode it in test mode and the first reviews are very positive. The facility keeps its good bones yet looks brand new throughout, from the fully reskinned and effects-heavy queue and more luxurious looking pre-show to the familiar but slick new cabins. The 3D CGI effect is subtle yet impressive, and the randomization gimmick had everyone comparing their different journeys. This one looks and feels like a hit. - Al Lutz
I've got a good feeling about this!

My sister just got a message saying as an Annual Passholder she can get a free Star Tours lanyard from June 3rd to June 5th. Is this a subtle way of trying to get the AP's to wait for that Star Wars Weekend to come to the parks?

Probably their way of saying, "Sorry we didn't have time to do AP previews".

I bet they will actually get (or have gotten) some angry letters about that, like they do when hotel discounts go away, but people forget that all that stuff is added perks not garunteed. However, because Disney does do them so often, people get accustomed to it and feel entitled.

That said, I do feel bad there don't seem to be AP previews - my guess is they just don't have time.

Ahh my god are you serious? This ride has an interactive element? That friggin sucks! What could have been a favorite ride of mine will now be something I probably avoid. Nobody wants that attention, its embarrassing, and its lame. Like I guess somebody in the group of riders keeps getting called on and everyones supposed to chuckle or something. Seriously that's lame. And it would take away from the excitement of the ride.

Does anyone actually enjoy that interactive stuff? I think you must ahve to have very low self esteem to want that kind of attention amongst a group, the majority of which are strangers. This is like Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, something many avoid cos they don't want to be involved in the audience participation stuff. Forcing it on people for a mainstream ride is a terrible idea. And a mean idea too for people wanting to avoid that.

Interactive does not necessarily imply that a person will be singled out like in Monsters Inc. Interactive simple many that you can interact with the attraction is some way. By that definition M:S, Buzz and TSM are all interactive. The queues of Space Mountain, Soarin, Pooh and the HM also fit this description.

I'm always amazed that people grip about interactivity. I love it. And while I can understand not wanting to be "THAT GUY" at the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, this seems harmless. It will probably be a couple second shot of a guest on a wanted poster to give a reason why the Empire would be chasing the vessel.

How about we all wait and see how it plays out before we start judging it?

Same here. Granted, I'm not that guy who's not wanting to be "that guy". Whenever they ask for volunteers, I'm all about it. Its part of the fun.
