It's good that there updating the ride, but honestly simulators aren't really my cup of tea. Though it's still nice to see something new in DHS, albeit just an updated SW film.

Not sure what is new I'm afraid as I don't have the original. It does gave pages on the latest additions to wdw's mansion.

I bet most of it is the same.

I checked out the Star Wars official website for any noteworthy news concerning Star Tours 2.0, and didn't find much. But I did find some fun stuff for geeks (like myself) anyway. I didn't know about the live concert coming.

Here's a link to the actual preview for it. Awesome:

Also, this weekend is the 30th anniversary of the very first preview ("trailer") for The Empire Strikes Back that gave us all a real look at the new movie coming the next year. I was 16 at the time, and remembered looking forward to this. This trailer actually accompanied the 1979 re-release of Star Wars that had been done to gear everyone back up again in anticipation. It did its job. The coolest thing about seeing this preview today is that Harrison Ford was the voice-over actor, doing his best 1930s announcer style. Check it out:

I do hope we see a new Star Tours soon, though.

Paul

Love the trailer and H. Ford's voice! ESB is my favorite Star Wars movie.

Cool, this was a long time coming. I can't wait to hear the details and part of me hopes for different treatments in CA and FL. I wouldn't mind another reason to have to go bi-coastal for opening weekends. :D

Uhm... I don't know if this portends well for the revamp. Jason also wrote the short-lived, inane, Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration that featured a new million-dollar stage yet closed after just a few weeks.

A Few Minutes with Jason Surrell

Interesting interview, but can't say it inspires confidence in the Star Tours redo.

It sounds like Surrell might be the one person who does storytelling worse than George Lucas.

Just got delivery of the new 40th anniversery edition of The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the movies by Jason Surrell.

Haven't talked to Jason since our 20th high school reunion. He's a great guy. Hope to see Jason during my next trip to the World in December. Gotta give him a call.

Let me get this straight. Jason Surrell is the man behind:

-Who Wants to be a Millionare?
-American Idol experince
-The stitch show in tomorrowland that everyone hated
-An unused idea to turn the driver in the great movie ride into a generic film geek

Does not inspire much confidence im affraid.

It's just a really bad situation because:

-Everything George Lucas has been involved with since 1989 has been garbage
-WDI track record over the last ten years has been, shall we say, less than stellar
-Tom Fitzgerald is involved in this project (the champion of video screens and corny dialogue in rides)
-Jason Surrell is the lead showwriter and we just went over his illustrious career at Imagineering
-Tony Baxter is a hasbeen
-Disney has no interest in making attractions that really blow people out of there minds anymore. At least not in america.

If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I was excited about Star Tours 2 I would have told you "Hell Yea!" but now color me skeptical

Dang!! Is it really that hard to be optimistic about disney and the future. I agree that this rumor as well as many others have been circulating around the net for years, but you gotta have some faith. Faith, trust, and pixie dust.

Yeah, why even go to WDW any more? Everything sucks. Why don't we just all stay home and be miserable. :( Ugh everything is so terrible. Disney hasn't made a good ride in over 50 years now. Why do they always have to copy Universal? Why can't they just let J.K. Rowling make everything? Oh boo hoo hoo. :lookaroun

i agree with most of your points. I will say however that you can let your guard down a bit with ST2. It will be one of the better attractions to come out of Glendale in over 10 years. I realize that isn't saying much but from what I've seen ST2 is a nice concept; from creative to hardware i think you may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm still not sure why the skeptics refuse to see that things are changing. When you look at DCA, the movies Disney has in the pipeline, the new DVC's in Hawaii/DC, it's quite apparent that the efforts of the Iger administration are starting to go from concept to drawing board to reality. Yes it has taken time. Quality always does.

Looking backwards at TWDC performance is NOT the way to determine it's future. Iger/Lasseter are bringing back the magic. It's so obvious it makes the skeptics look like whining spoiled children.:cry::cry:

3 1/2 weeks to D23. :)

I think ST2 will be very good if done right. They honestly need to tone down the prequels concept if they want to come out with a great ride. The current one is suffering, to say the least.
