Staggs says changes to Fantasyland...

Thrill rides make more money and get attendance up, though. Look at what Everest did to AK's attendance.

This is the real reason we are even having this discussion. As much as they deny it for not wanted to sound like they underestimated the effect, this is really happening because Universal built a thrill ride that both boys and girls love, and their attendance is booming this summer because of it. Disney needs to pick a franchise that is somewhat similar in target audience to Harry Potter if it wants to grab some of those extra guests Universal is attracting.

FLE is intended to increase capacity. Other parks need thrill rides more. blah blah blah....

I pretty much disagree with every word of your second paragraph.

But I agree that your avatar is awesome.

I do! Well, not just Snow White, but the COLLECTIVE of all the Fantasyland attractions combined! When you get there at rope drop, you can walk-on all the FL attractions, with little or no wait! You can therefore spend over an hour in this Magical world from the Animated Classics, which is a longer time than ANY so-called E-ticket lasts!

Wouldn't that sort of make the other poster's point that most people don't come to Disney to ride the FL dark rides? :p

I think the dark rides are charming myself, but I take the point that to most people they aren't park icons — not individually anyway. They tend to be grouped together as almost one unit when they're discussed at all.

A rather tired argument indeed.......

I don't know about the argument (seems valid to me) but I'm tired from having to explain it over and over again. :brick:

I'm tired of the same old rehashed arguments, accompanied by the same inevitable counter-arguments. WWoHP is great, but only time will tell as to its lasting impact. Same for FLE once it is up and running.

I'm with you there. Sometimes, it's easy to get pulled into an endless loop around here.

There are a few fantasyland rides that are kind of iconic to me. Yes, I know you can spin at any carnival but the tea cups have always been one of the things I think of first when I think MK. And most people think Dumbo, at least most of the non- WDE addicted people I know do.

I blame Jt......:ROFLOL:

I blame the "insiders" and their insidious conspiracy to raise the expectations of a handful of people who frequent Disney forums so that they can... um... well, be disappointed later and... I guess this will lead to them... I don't know... ruling the world or something?

I don't know. It makes sense when jt explains it.

You can therefore spend over an hour continuously in this Magical world from the Animated Classics, (uninterupted by lines) which is a longer time than ANY so-called E-ticket lasts!

You can close the park late at night in this most Magical way, as well!

Don't get me wrong - I DO LOVE and enjoy most of the attractions that were NOT based on the DACs! But you left all of my favorites from that category off of your list - It's A Small World, Country Bear Jamboree, Tiki Room, and Figment! All of these do, however, have a high FANTASY and cuteness content that could have been part of the DACs!

As a coaster junkie, I also really love the coasters like Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain, and as an animal lover LOVE EVERYTHING in Animal Kingdom! (even though Bug, Nemo, and Lion King are the only 3 things there based on Disney or Pixar Animated Classics)

As for others you mentioned - Tower, Pirates, and Mansion - I do ride them, and I like the airtime on Tower - but aesthetically - meaning story and atmosphere - they are not even in my WDW Top 25! And they trail in my rankings behind all 8 attractions in the current Fantasyland!

10) Cinderella's Golden Carousel
11) Mad Tea Party
12) Mickey's Toontown Fair walk-thrus (Mickey's House, Minnie's House, etc)

(9 of these 12 are located in Fantasyland and Toontown, and the 3 that aren't all have Fantasy content! (including Splash Mountain, which does have a Disney Animation pedigree!)

Thrills

1) Space Mountain
2) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
3) Goofy's Barnstormer

My MK wish-list

Pinocchio's Daring Journey
Alice In Wonderland
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Casey Junior Circus Train
Storybook Land Canal Boats
Matterhorn Bobsleds

All of these would make my MK Top 21!

How can you even believe that the Mad Tea Party is a better put together attraction than HM(not meant in a rude tone, these posts can sound ruder than theyre meant to be)

They do. They really do. It's proven. People may say no to them but if Disney really wants to make something big they know it needs to be thrilling. DL has 5 big thrill rides, 5. Mk has 3. Now I know most will argue "blah blah blah dl doesn't have 4 theme parks." That's not the point. Mk needs capacity right, so along with this land add a e ticket and then you have people coming in and out. I was hoping for a thrill ride but I have been shot down that "blah blah Disney doesn't need thrill rides, blah blah go to a coaster park." What if I wanted a thrilling ride along with great story telling in MK? Sure there's the mountains but that's it. Dl has Indy to make the thrill category less mountain centric.

Oh and David S., Barnstormer is nowhere near a thrill ride. I hear younger kids even come off and say, "well that wasn' great at all." Just my opinion.

In closing I hope there's a thrill ride coming but not, eh well I guess MK can wait another 20 years for one, I think:confused::confused:

All right, I'll end this thread drift so we can return to our endless speculation. :brick:

that's the beauty of this...for once, this ISN'T endless! One day soon, we will actually find out what is being built and there will be cheering, laughing, crying, etc.

...and probably the gnashing of teeth...as apparently TDO could transplant Tokyo Disney Seas into the expansion and there would be folks here that would balk...lol

No there will be spin, more spin, some spin on the spin, which will all be accompanied by a dessert of spin.

And then you'll have the denouncers all complaining about how the FLE needs an E-ticket ride. Which will then devolve into a discussion on how TDO effed up yet again. :brick:

To each his own.

And it's mind boggling to me how anyone could NOT like these!

They are the CUTEST! They are the whimsical, warm, charming, funny, shiny, happy characters, stories, and music I can identify with and get into! They make me feel 8 years old again, which is the vibe I am going for, and what the Magic is all about, for me!

The highly acclaimed Tower and Mansion have dark, gloomy, and Gothic atmospheres that I can't get into. I appreciate them on a TECHNICAL level, but they don't fill me with that Warm and Fuzzy feeling inside like my favorites do! They don't make me LONG to be in their world when I am not in it, if that makes any sense!

I'm all puppies and sunshine, butterflies and rainbows! PARTICULARLY when I can spend time at WDW and let that side of me free! :)

The ones I listed have been my favorites since I was little , and still are to this day!

I hope this explanation explains it better!

Right now the only solid guess I have so far is Storytime with Belle is being replaced with a BatB dark ride. But I'm not even so sure about that.
