 I hope there is a purpose to blue triangles, angler fish bulbs, and chicken wire....perhaps it will be an abstract time tunnel ending....eventually..

Let`s assume the Animatronics have been removed for general repairs or upgrades (can anyone recall if the paperboy had new compliance limbs?)

There again, SSE has had a real habit of making AAs dissappear over the years...

Pre-refurbishment, the paperboy was not a modern AA with compliance. Post-refurb, it was never seen moving and had been standing "facing the wall" since the first day it re-opened.

Went on the ride today, 5/12 and the three animatronics are still missing. Also noticed the audio with the others such as the egyptian scene and the greek math scene teacher that the mouths were moving but hardly any sound, before werent the voices very audible?..... At the 180 top the matrix tunnel green light was bleeding again and dancing on the very top of the starfield. Music here is still bla and boring, not loud enough. Maybe it was just a bad day for sound in there.

A note on the descent: it looked as if they have been adding to the gas clouds area on the right, making this area more ornate with more of them and repainted and relit. Dont get too excited, but that one space in there looked better than it had in a long time, although the work area was lit, again, and was horrible with things covered and tools laying down in there. The rest of the descent is as much of a mess as ever. So many black curtains from floor to way up high covering the whole right side, and still many triangles totally black with nothing on them overhead, and of course all the wrinkled star curtains and chicken wire. But maybe they are working from the gas clouds downward because the gas clouds area really was looking nice with new glows, twinkles, and swoosh effects. Sadly though you pass that right into the black hole of uglyness. They could at least extend the whole gas cloud scene all the way down if they refuse to do anything else, gosh that would look so much nicer than how it is now.

anyhow just passing on what i noticed today. btw toy story mania was incredible. felt like classic disney to me, and imagineering went all out. then later in day after going on sse again, i was thinking if only that kind of work could have been given to this in some parts.

Question: Does anyone have a picture of the afore said gas clouds?Or is this just a new term for the fiber optics that went down the last tunnel?I've looked through all of my ride vids and pics but can't find a single glimpse and my memory does not want to help either. If we can't find a pic,can someone at least describe the effect to me?

Something else to note in that pic that I saw when I rode back in December... The kid's big stack of newspapers is still at the front, near the ride track (at the right-hand edge of the photo) which is where they were before the refurb. Seems like an odd place to leave them if he was going to be "in the corner" permanently.
And that random small box that's blocking the view of his feet... It's a mighty handy way of hiding a heavy-duty bracket or heavy base to keep him propped up. (We did that in my theater once to hide a special effects light that needed to be bolted to the floor rear-center stage. In the one scene where it would be visible and out of place, a barnyard scene, we stuck a crate in front of it...)

My money is on a problem with the animatronic (damaged face or very broken mechanics), he's finally getting the TLC he needs, and he'll back back hawking newspapers next to the ride track soon.

Guys - the paperboy is facing the other way because he's a STATIC FIGURE. The one that used to be the real paperboy is now busy learning math with the greek dudes

The two new AA figures in the Greek scene are old World of Motion figures, not the paperboy. (They even still kind of have that World of Motion "look" to their faces, though I think there may have been some "musical heads" where one head was placed on a differently-posed body) Besides, they're both taller than the paperboy and have very little movement. Why relocate an AA that moves so that it can be in a position where it would move even less?

I highly doubt disney is going to do anything to change/update/modify the current version of SSE. Basically waht you have been seeing is what your gonna get for the next decade. This "work" being done on the descent is just fanboy imagination.

I don't know why they ever called them gas clouds.....once we left the space station room/floating computer room, the "gas clouds" were on our right hand side as we headed backwards, it was a series of twinkling stars and little flashes of lightning here and there, as well as a faint...if I remember (in 2006) a faint purplish haze to it, most likely a projection of faint haze with lightning....then we saw the pepper's ghost displays on our right.

The lightning and possibly haze effect were gone for quite a few years, later restored by Seimens putting some money into the 1994 version, I remember this effect in 2006, but it was not there, except for the twinkling stars in my 2004 trip. I remember thinking to myself "what....that wall had lightning effects on it" lol
