Not to go too off topic, love the touch screens, support most of the judi dench narration, yet just don't see how going drastically from elaborate sets to curtained walls and blue triangles while jib jabbing your future makes sense. It would have been a great interactive feature in project tomorrow, as the disneyland version allows you to do that at a stationary touch screen in their innoventions seimens exhibit.

They could have allowed the option of letting guests to use their touch screen, and actually used their imagination and come up with something more than a rip off fad of pasting your head onto a cartoon, because yeah anyone would like that, I even found it humourous, but hey, they could have gimbo the laughing epcot clown in the descent and make balloon animals and still people would like the descent........o_O

Come now, don't go Merf on us....

It's not that bad.It could be narrated by Stitch. The wand still could be up.EPCOT is getting better.

Say it with me now....;)

But yes,I do agree fully with your Sig.

yes the wand is gone, but we have the epcot tourist memorial out front with the brown and grey paint and overgrown fluff fluff trees, while a beautiful and revitalized spaceship earth entrance sits past it with a great project tomorrow exhibit which I adore, and yet we go from amazing sets and a nice new ascent tunnel to the bowls of black holes on the way down. :dazzle:

Right now, Epcot is absoultely beautiful with the Flower Festival. Too bad it doesn't always look like that!

I must say that I absolutely loved the new SSE. Everything seemed to be working when I rode last Friday. My favorite was when they took my picture, they also grabbed an image of my infant daughter who was in my lap. So during the end movie, it was both of us, not just me. The only downside was that I emailed my movie to myself at the end exhibit, but I never received it.

We still see Lyndon Johnson in the Egypt scene!!!

I actually dont mind the touch screens either. I thought it was going to be something really fantastic though and instead that whole section is a complete mess. The "swooshes" I first mentioned, yes it is that faint cloud like haze that runs through the twinkles and little lightning effects. Only now there is more of that haze and its repainted to show up more, and the lightning is working and there is a new moving light effect through the haze, that new effect is really what I meant when I used the word swooshes, sorry for any confusion lol. But you really have to be watching to that side to notice all this. After that part is past its a nightmare the rest of the way down. A few purplish lit traingles next to creased black curtains of doom, all the rest of the triangles remain untouched and black. Touch screens or no touch screens, they could have made that descent tunnel look like the ascent tunnel, however the curtains in the ascent are very much wrinkled too in the first half, the second part though when you get higher up past the picture taking thing is fantastic!

The thing is... they really made SSE feel like a time machine journey more than it ever was before, and yet, rather than have us drift through an updated descent with numerous fiber optics, images, data, and other cosmic and electronic effects as we go from space back to the present day and to Epcot, we instead go through triangleland and a gas cloud wall.

There is enough wall space on both sides, especially where we curved pass the old fiber optic city that could hold room for more star effects, projections, etc...but instead....its mostly still as I saw it when I was evacuated in january....bare black panneled walls, black carpeting, speakers and necessary evac lights, and curtains and curtains strung against most of the walls, many now wrinkled and shifted with the star effects....only big difference is the addition of random triangles.

Sorry, just never going to buy it.....touch screens can be cool, and its great to select your language, but when people say "oh well its funny and cute", yes it is seeing yourself in a jib jab future, but there could be happy bunnies and farting dinosaurs in universe of energy, or gas passing car in test track. It has become make the guess so entertained we need to make them laugh, and yet with project tomorrow full of great, fun, and edutainment stuff to do, the post show now starts 3/4 into the ride for SSE.

That'd be like going on world of motion from the highways of the 1950s and then having the rest of the ride be you staring at a screen where you select your car of the future, and watch a cartoon of hilarious things that you might encounter on the highways of tomorrow, and then exit the ride into the transcenter, rather than having that touch screen feature just be a part of the transcenter in and of itself and actually coming up with an ending that uses the room around you and not just infront of you.

Then what are the triangles and the (yet to be seen hint hint) gas clouds?...........
those have been there since the ride opened just so the descent wouldnt be totally barren

Actually no the triangles werent in there when the ride reopened, they went back in a month or two later with that after all the guest complaints. Whether those were planned from the beginning or came as a last minute thing no one really knows.
Only thing is they never did anything with them or finished, most of them just hang unpainted from chicken wire and against the black curtains.

We still see Lyndon Johnson in the Egypt scene!!!

Actually, it's Taft in the Egypt scene.
LBJ is the guy driving the big rig on Test Track.
(And Gerald Ford was one of the musicians in the Renaissance scene who is also now missing, though I seem to recall noticing that it was a different mandolin player than Ford when SSE first reopened back in December)

Going back to the missing paperboy... MouseSteps has a pic in their current update of the spot where the paperboy is missing.

The large crate has moved from where it was in the pic earlier in this thread, and it's now sitting where the paperboy has been since the re-opening. I'm guessing that it's hiding whatever was supporting the motionless paperboy AA...

I don't know why they ever called them gas clouds.....once we left the space station room/floating computer room, the "gas clouds" were on our right hand side as we headed backwards, it was a series of twinkling stars and little flashes of lightning here and there, as well as a faint...if I remember (in 2006) a faint purplish haze to it, most likely a projection of faint haze with lightning....then we saw the pepper's ghost displays on our right.

The lightning and possibly haze effect were gone for quite a few years, later restored by Seimens putting some money into the 1994 version, I remember this effect in 2006, but it was not there, except for the twinkling stars in my 2004 trip. I remember thinking to myself "what....that wall had lightning effects on it" lol

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
'scuse me while I kiss the sky!!!

you mean my dream for that might come true......well damn they better extend the years of a trillion dreams to 2010 or so so I can have my dream of that beeing removed along with the overgrown trees :)

Interesting and good to hear. Wow the paperboy must have really been tuckerd out. I guess after standing there twenty five years he needed a vacation!! Hopefully we will see some more mending like this, but in the descent.
