I rode Spaceship Earth today and the paperboy is back. He still had his back turned to us and he wasn't saying anything, but, he was there

uggg, thanks for the report but why did they bother to take him out for this long and then put him back the same way? this has been the weirdest refurbishment of an attraction.

Yep, I saw him on Thursday (6/26). He looks like he's been beat up by some bullies. Hair was a bit of a mess and his collar is at an angle (or he was hunched over. Hard to tell).

Edit - What's sad is the moment I saw him my first thought was "hey, I finally have something to post on WDWmagic!"

well the girl in the window has found a person to use as her punching bag....she must be bored cutting and pasting people's heads onto cartoon bodies every day....I mean waving to astronauts for over 10 years is one thing, but this must drive her crazy. :lookaroun

I think I started that joke many moons ago when someone asked how the pictures were cropped. I didn't think it would carry on this long.

It creeps me out to think this large prop is still there, and that she may very well be in there...they probably never took her out, and it looks like the painted over the entire window plexiglass with black paint. It also looked like before the 2007 refurb that the whole window prop was painted with a glow in the dark paint, now it looks like it was painted over in black to blend in the walls.. :zipit:

I wonder how many other abandoned sets or other things there are in other Disney rides :shrug:

Even worse than the paperboy and SSE, is the condition of the Jack Sparrows on POTC! Rode it last night, and the first Jack (dresses) looks like he had his neck slit in a sword fight. The skin was all flapping about and you could see white underneath it. Then, same thing on the barrel Jack, except you couldn't seen underneath, it was just all bunched up like a rag. Really gross and sad.

Seems like all the techs were busy with Toy Story Mania and forgot about the rest of Disney World.

Isn't Food Rocks just sitting behind the walls at the entrance of Soarin'? There's also the ImageWorks in Imagination. I'm sure there are some other fun things in Innoventions, too. And that's just Epcot. Why don't they take things out when they refurbish a ride? oes it really Cost that much or take that much time? Eventually you need to clean out the old stuff. :shrug:
