Found this article while doing my morning reading ... Are they actually going to finish SSE? Mods if this has already been posted feel free to delete.

I will only accept it as finished when the bad narration and select your future BS is just a bad memory.

It just seems like it is basic electrical work. While we keep talking about SSE getting "finished", I am pretty sure that it already is according to the people who have created it.

While they both say electrical work ... the second one seems more promising when you look at the name of the contractor, Elite A/V systems ... thats why I thought it might be more than just electrical work or at least some type of upgrade, but who knows.

To the earlier poster, you have to agree to the terms and conditions on the landing page to be able to view the PDF for the work orders

I would agree. The only thing that has me wondering is the second NOC that names Elite AV systems as the contractor. There was the long standing rumor that the triangles were intended to be screens. Maybe that portion of the decent will be coming to fruition.

According to Ermco's website:
WE SPECIALIZE IN:

All forms of Power and Lighting Installations
High Voltage
Audio
Security
Fire Alarm
Telephone
Data and Fiber Optics
Trained, Certified, and Insured for High Access Rappelling

Elite A/V System lists two employees, so perhaps they won't be doing the heavy lifting in this case.

We actually noticed some new wooden structures low by the track around the descent that had not been there a couple weeks earlier. This could be good news.

Meh. I guess that would be a slight improvement.

I was watching the Jeremy Irons version recently and I miss it so much. I have a hard time believing that anyone would think that this current version is an improvement.
Not only did it involve AAs and a story, it also fit in the theme of communication so well. I don't hate the new ending by itself, I hate it because it replaced something great. The new ending could be a fun activity in Innoventions, but not the ending for the main symbol of Epcot.

My hopes are getting up. I better put down some padding.:D

Im with you, my heart just skipped a beat when I read the discussion title. Being very cautious though, all this keeps coming up every year and nothing has been done, it just continues to fall apart in there and get uglier. Yet they just seem so proud of it. :hurl: Maybe this time something will actually happen, Martin any chance?

The ride should really be called Spaceship Through a Vacuum System, or Voyage through Junky Air Ducts or something.

Wow. That's a much better ending than that stupid future cartoon.

I wish I would of rode the Jeremy Irons version.

I still prefer the Walter Cronkite version, with Tomorrow's Child and all that, but Irons' narration was excellent and the Irons-period descent is my favorite.

The current descent is a disgrace. Sure it was "cute" the first time to see yourself on the screen, but it loses its appeal the second time. Disney's motto for the last ten years has been to cut every corner possible. I can almost guarantee that the Fantasyland expansion isn't going to meet expectations...

You had the same expectations for Tangled. I think FLE will be impressive.

But it's not the screens that are so horrid in the new decent. It's the Chicken Wire covered in Cardboard, spray-painted triangles. I can live with the "Your Tomorrow" or whatever, but I can't live with the rest.

How i do so miss the Jeremy Irons ending. It was so wonderful and beautiful with the city of light, and such a stirring scene with that epic music as you descend!

I completely agree. I really miss that ending, it felt inspiring. The only place left where I feel that is COP :(

So true.
I defended the "cute descent" after the first few times riding, but it gets older on every visit.

And after watching that video of the Irons descent:
Wow! how cool was that??
I almost forgot.

Kind of depressing, really.:(

I don't mind the Dench narration.....but I want that descent back!!!:mad::mad::mad:
