Spring Break Window?

I know that Spring Break is a very crowded time for the World. I am a teacher and can only go when school is out. However, our Spring Break is much later than usual this year. It is the week of April 15. Since that is AFTER Easter, what will the crowds be like then. Does this week fit into the busy "Spring Break Window" or will crowds have died down by then? Our last trip was last July. The heat and crowds made it miserable. I'm hoping this trip will be better. Any information for this time would be helpful. Thanks!

OH! One more thing.... My husband and I will be there for our 19th wedding anniversary. Any suggestions?

Hi Kadee,

It's been a long time! As you know from previous posts, I take some of my students during our spring break. This year we are on break March 31st until April 9th. This is what I have found to be true over the past 6 trips....since colleges' and high schools' spring/Mardi Gras/Easter breaks are not set-in-stone dates like Thanksgiving and Christmas.....the crowds are spread out as well.....of course not as thin as off season, but a definite improvement over other peak season times.....I, too went ONCE in July..... never again.....April is mild......warm during the day......cool at night....occasional late afternoon showers.....just enough rain to "scare the lines thin"

Happy early Congrat. to you and DH.......my DH and I are about to hit 21 years......this is a great time.....kids old enough to take care of themselves.....our parents are still in good health.....a delightful time:D

56 more days until we are Orlando bound with 21 teens on a school bus for 930 miles of smiles:hammer: :sohappy:

We went for spring break last year. It wasn't the week before or after Easter. I thought it was great! I'm used to going in the summer when it's really hot. The weather in April was fabulous! The crowds were about the same as the summer (I was expecting worse). All in all, it's a great time to go.

We are going this year for our spring break, which seems much earlier than everyone else's . Ours is the middle of March. We, too, are used togoing in the heat of summer. I think I will smile through crowds if it is not so hot.

We're going spring break, too. Being that I am teaching, and one other of our gathering is as well, it's pretty much the only time other than summer, and summer we like to spend our times at the lakes and beaches here. Our spring break in Manitoba, for public schools, is March 26-30. University break is next week, February 12-16. Yay! I get two breaks in two months!

-41 Celusius in The Peg  and 43 more days to nine days at PORiverside!:sohappy:

We go at Spring Break time every year. Usually the end of March. The worst time that I have seen the crowds was the week before and the week after Easter. If your break is starting on the 15th I think you will be fine.

Sorry for the bump, but I've searched and can't find a specific answer.

What are the crowds generally like the last week of March (24-31)? I do not have access to any of the touring plan sites. Basically, I'm there before Easter and I've also read somewhere that spring break is winding down. Anyone know? I have a 5 yo. old so I am a little concerned about wait times, especially for the attractions he is now tall/old enough to ride, like EE, SM, Splash, ToT, etc.

Thanks!

That week shows anywhere between a 7 out of 10 and 9 out of 10. This would indicate anywhere between a 65-90 minute wait at the most popular attractions at peak times. It looks most managable on Tuesday and Wednesday of that week (7 out of 10).

The best advise I can give is arrive early and get those headliner attractions out of the way.

As others have said, the period from mid March to Mid April is pretty hectic as spring breaks vary a lot between schools. We will be there the first week in April and over Easter which will be VERY busy, but even with those times there is a strategy. There are later openings and even EMH where the parks are open till the early hours of the morning (bless those CM's!)

My preference is to be at the parks for opening. You have a window of about 2-3 hours without crouds. Hit the E-tickets, FP for early afternoon, plan on a break mid afternoon when the parks get filled.

Congrats on your anniversary. One place that is always special for celebrations is Victoria and Albert's. I also like Artist Point at WL for a special dinner, there are a number of very nice restaurants that can make the evening special. Be sure to confirm at checkin when your anniversary is, stop at guest relations and get a pin. Also when you make dinner reservations, let them know what you are celebrating. Not promising anything, but sometimes a little extra magic can happen.

There are also carriage rides and boat rides that can be arranged.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

touringplans.com indicates that things in the park will be very busy throughout the entire months of March and April, with no disernable break until the very end of April.

Seems to be crowds are anywhere between a 7-9 out of 10 (crowd sizes) for the last week or so in March.

They moved ours this year too for that same week. The other counties around us are still in March. It's all about the testing though (they want them to test before break.) The poor kids are already burned out. I can't imagine how they'll be by the time Spring Break finally gets here.

Have a great trip! (Oh, and I know a lot of people from here going that week too).

I also am a teacher and take groups to WDW on Spring Break during March and April. I totally agree with the above. If you can avoid the actual Easter Week, Spring Break is a good time to go for those of us who must go when kids are out of school.

We are going the week of April 15th. We have never been this time of year. We are hoping for the best but planning for the worst as well. In our tri-county area, we are the only ones with Spring Break this late. The others are out the week of March 18th. We usually go either in October or the week after Thanksgiving. (It was crowded that week after Thanksgiving). Since our son has started school, we don't want to take him out for a week. Hopefully, the crowds won't be too bad. Our son is an early riser and we'll be able to hit the parks when they open.

That's how Shelby County is. We're the only one around here with Spring Break so late this year. Everyone else is March 18th.

If it helps any, that week is the second week of the cheaper season, so perhaps in Disney's estimation, it will not be as busy.

Originally, I had our vacation planned for two weeks and it was going to be the second and third weeks of April. But then I had to chop it down to one week and I chose the week you're talking about because the first week was going to be in the higher priced season and the second week, which is the week you are going, was going to be in the cheaper season. I've since had to move it forward another week, so now we are going the week of the 23rd to 30th. But if Disney decides their value, regular and peak seasons based on projected busy times, then they must be expecting the week of the 15th to be a little slower. Again, that may or may not help, but that is what little I can offer.

Easter week

Hi, This is my first post on this forum. My family of 10, two grandparents, and two families with four adults and four boys ranging in 1 year old, 4 year old, 6 year old, and 7 year old. We are arriving on the 4th of April and leaving the following week on the 11th. So we will hit both weeks of spring break. I am a school nurse for a school system in Virginia and our spring break is the week after Easter and my sisters school system in Maryland is the week before Easter.

We have been there for Easter before but many years ago. I'm just hoping for a great time, use the FAST PASS as much as possible and utilize the late nights and the early mornings.

I am looking to find out if Disney is going to have some special egg hunt or something. I know about the Easter Parade which is my favorite part.

Anybody know of anything else special going on during that time?

THanks,

:ROFLOL:Jenny
