Actually I think she had very little to do with it. Probably nothing to do with it. You do remember that Favreau was an original creator of the MCU and is in EXTREMELY good standing with Disney?I guess Dave and Jon hired themselves? Or was this a fan project?
I was never a huge EU fan, but if I remember correctly, the pearls were just considered very valuable. I would be surprised if the pearl had any real ties to later events. And if it does, I can't see them not giving it some further explanation.Should I know the significance of that big pearl thing taken from the dragon??? (Or is it a wait and see?) The Sand People seemed pretty determined then happy to get it.

I was thinking because it’s easier to film there and still have the star wars vibe? lot easier to edit than saying your on bespin or mustafar!I think the Pearl was just kinda a cutesy weenie like the Jawas and the egg last year.
Not really a big deal...just scenery.
Anyone notice how the desert/tatooine motif is like in every show?
I think that’s mandated theme park synergy as well.
Yea the pearl seemed like a nice way to get the Tuskins involved in helping, while at the same time thowing out a cute little easter egg to the EU fans. It was a great way to have fan service, very low key. Unlike, what's your name? Ok then, Han....SOLO.I think the Pearl was just kinda a cutesy weenie like the Jawas and the egg last year.

Watch the documentary on the production...I was thinking because it’s easier to film there and still have the star wars vibe? lot easier to edit than saying your on bespin or mustafar!

I think that theme is just pure star wars from an astetic stand point. So many people just identify star wars with that desert look. I know I do. I also think it is a lot friendlier on the budget as well.
If it is going to happen, Id say it will be this series. The next one will be Obi-Wan so I don't think that will focus on space. That series is going to give us a big fat helping of the desert setting. And I agree it has been a bit over used. I think my head might just explode if the Mandalorian went to the forest moon of endor or Dagobah. Those are my favorites by a long shot.I expect either this series or the next to really get hard into space...and return it to “dogfight” texture which worked and didn’t need to ever be tinkered with....
And you know where that works?
You guessed it: R1
I expect the Ahsoka/Sabine series to be set in space as they search for Ezra. The desert is the least pleasing motif and they have overused it. But I get the correlation/approach.
Star Wars went big time in space, snow and forest. At least that what my failing memory keeps telling me.

Took what he needed and dropped the BS.Kennedy sent Filoni to every film set to learn. One was particularly helpful:
Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson Had A Big Influence On The Mandalorian

Interesting to separate the craft from the content. I certainly didn’t like the last jedi but if Ryan J was able to help Dave Filoni with technical tips on transitioning to live action good on him. I wonder what would have happened if Brad Bird with his pixar background had taken the directors spot?Kennedy sent Filoni to every film set to learn. One was particularly helpful:

I really liked it and I thought it showed great character growthAnother fantastic stand alone episode! Did it move story along? Maybe not, but what a fun watch!
Enjoy the journey.
Crab legs!is it weird that i was craving eggs after this episode?
That amazing resume was always as a distant #2 or a #3...but I’m sure that’s a “technicality”People acknowledge Rian’s ability as a director- that doesn’t mean he was a fit for a creative to lead Star Wars
much like KK’s AMAZING resume is undisputed... that doesn’t make her report card on leading star wars undisputed
