How the hell are they releasing 2 after 3?

What a bunch of waffling.

The only thing he knows is 'different shooting schedules,' and from that, he presumes Season 3 and TBoBF are separate. And they could very well be. But, and even he admits as such, he doesn't know for sure. Thus, they might be.... or not.

If the same season, the two story arcs can bounce back and forth, like Danarys at the beginning of Game of Thrones, or Hobbits arc v. Fellowship arc halfway through Lord of the Rings.

Or, TBoBF can be a movie or maybe a three week limited series that precedes Season 3 in December.
Oh dear...

Any reference to GOT now takes me to the “bad place”...
Are we gonna get rian Johnson to write it?😮
Well, he’s a storyboard artist and it doesn’t sound like he’s involved in production specifically so it seems it’s more just that he doesn’t know for certain than he’s “waffling”. He probably was involved in the art work and was told they were different products filming separately but doesn’t know if that changed at any point.

Yeah...seemed like a urinal cake kinda guy to me.

Well, there's our answer. New original.
I don’t know why there was so much debate? It did seem rather obviously

Because the head of Lucas Films said the week before that was the launch data for Season 3, and there is a real question if they would launch 2 shows at the same time. It really does make her look very bad (and I know you like that :D)

If you say so...

Where i was at is this: streaming platform, franchise with recent damage = need for more new shows...not to “convert” them.

Oh I was under the impression it was a separate show, Kennedy just made it confusing by announcing the wrong date for season 3. Then factor in its the same producers (so I don't think they'd be working on both shows at the same time for the same release), and I get it. But you are right, they finally have something they can run with in Star Wars (showing maybe all you crazed fans aren't impossible to please/will enjoy new content), and you add in how they set up season 3 as a battle for the Mandor (no idea if I'm spelling that right, like I said, not a die hard or anything) at the end of season 2, and it just made more sense to me to make it separate.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she actually didn’t know.

It’s Mandalore...but I’ll give you a pass 😉

By the way...if anyone hasn’t watched season 7 of the clone wars...it’s not only excellent (the whole series is)...but it provides a lot of depth to not only the prequels (I know...near impossible)...but gets story arcs that stretch all the way to the mandalorian in a way.

I didn’t click the actual link. I was also busy with something else while skimming.

Perfect for my “dead TV week” binging.

Funny so many are saying how “starwarsy” the Mandalorian feels (especially the last few episodes of the season). While I agree, it also still feels very much like an old Western.

I take this as an indication that it’s possible to explore different genres and still have the Star Wars feel. Hoping the spinoff series all take slightly different approaches rather than being cookie-cutter retreads.

I agree. That is why I would love Feige to get involved. I know they said he was working on something star wars, so hopefully that sticks. He has done phenomenally keeping the MCU cohesive while infusing different geners. I think Star wars, especially the D+ series, will work well with that. Casian, Obi-Wan, Fett, all lend themselves perfectly to specific genres.

Not that I disagree, but couldn’t you argue that A New Hope basically was a Western set in space?

Yeah, Episode 4 was certainly inspired by the old Westerns. I think the Mandalorian leaned even harder into the genre (all the way through to “samurai cinema”).

I could see lots of room for them to explore other genres: heist films (a la Solo), detective/noir, horror, thriller, comedy, etc. in addition to the fantasy action/adventure stuff and still retain that star wars feeling.

the clone wars is lot like this with episode arcs of different genres. It shows you can tell a lot of different stories within star wars you just the right ones ✌️😀
