SPOILERS: Star Wars' ANDOR

I thought Rogue One was good, especially the ending. I'd definitely take it over this show any day. Jyn Erso is a vastly better main character than Andor.

Yeah, "Rogue One" was a decent movie with great iconic scenes in it, like the Darth Vader hallway scene. I do think Cassian Andor was better suited for a side role, like in the movie. He's not a star of a show or movie, even on Disney Plus. I miss the droid from it too, he was awesome.

Overall the characters were just way more interesting in it. And they managed to blend the Original trilogy and New characters very nicely together.

That explains why Rogue One was a tedious slow burn that put audiences to sleep.
Rogue one was not a slow burn like Andor is. It had slow burn parts but they did not last near the percentage of time that Andors have. Granted a movie has a much more finite amount of time to tell its story in. Rogue one did a great job of balancing slower talking scenes with action sequences. Even if Andor has a heavy amount of action in the back half, they still spent 95% of the first 5 episodes with basic exposition. It's just an awkward balance. If the show can really stick the landing, that could make all the difference, and none of this slow burn stuff will matter.

K2S0 was awesome, by far my favorite from the Disney era. It's unfortunate that they decided not to include him in season 1. That is by far the biggest disappointment of the show so far. Tudyk has said he will show up in season 2.

How much more interesting would this season be if the first couple episodes set things up then the next couple went into the hiest where Andor would meet K2. Then you would have the dynamic that worked so well for the rest of the series. Unfortunately since they did a comic of how that happened I'm guessing they didn't want to step on that part of canon too hard.

Yeah, that would have been awesome. Despite being a droid, he was one of the most charismatic and funny characters in Rogue One. Everyone else seemed so serious in the movie. He was like a funny version of C3P0, saying whatever he wanted.

Just having him around even made Andor seem more likable.

Well, that’s one opinion, it is wrong, but it an opinion.

Just to be clear, my comment was a joke responding to MisterPenguin's comment that Andor's story could have been told in 4 seconds.

So did some girl save Andor's butt during the heist yet?

What gets me is after all the talking that is done, I still don't care about the heist crew. They are all red shirts to me.

They've done a far better job of developing the characters and making me care about the people in this heist than anyone in Rogue One. Granted, there's a lot of time they've spent in that regard as well. YMMV.

Well to be fair, they have spent more time just in character development so far than the entire rogue one run time. That said, I think Rogue one had better, more interesting characters as a whole.

I was better connected to the pilots on the original Death Star trench run than I am with Andor's crew. They just aren't that interesting.

To each their own, but I thought the character development in Rogue One was horrible and I just didn't care about anyone on the mission or felt sad that they died except for K2S0. The only reason I "cared" about their mission was because of a pre-existing love and nostalgia for A New Hope. Of course, I'm one of those folks who didn't really like Rogue One much - thought it was the weakest Disney Star Wars movie until Rise of Skywalker came out.

As I've already said, I think they need more action in Andor and are dragging things out too much, but they've developed these characters far better than those in Rogue One (albeit using a lot more runtime as well which helps) IMHO

Sad thing is Hasbro's Andor figures don't come out until August 2023 and they are all humans. Who is going to remember this show by Christmas?
Unfortunately star wars and action figures and how badly it's all been handled, is a whole other topic.

Will people care about this show once it's done? That all depends on how good th ending is. If we get something great like Mando, then yea, I see people remembering it. If it lands like most of the D+ show endings have, then probably not so much.

If they released it in blocks or as 90-minute episodes some people would complain how long and boring each segment is until they get to the action.

Let them try it and lets see. We live in an age where Netflix drops a new season of something and people bing many hours on the first night. My wife binged the entire new season of Cobra Kai in one sitting. I don't at all see why people wouldn't watch 90 minute episodes once a week over 4 weeks.
