The "filler" is part of the story being told. You must hate classic novels as there is not enough "good stuff" in them.
It must've killed a lot of people when the Fellowship split up and they had to read (or watch in the films) boring filler of what the other Hobbits were doing with the trees and the rest of the gang saving a few cities instead of focusing solely on Frodo and the Ring.

Then again why couldn't Frodo just take a ride with Eagles and drop the Ring in. It sure would get to the point.

Sauron would see it coming and send the flying Nazgûl to shred them.

Frodo had a stealth mission.
Eagles have claws. Nazgul are just guys on flying horses. It's not like they have machine guns or heat seeking missiles. I think an eagle could outfly them in a dog fight. Gandalf could give them a protective magic bubble.

Which perfectly proves - if you're going off on a side mission without the heroes, at least make sure the characters in the side mission are not boring and the reader/viewer is invested in them, too.

Mission with Bo, the Mandalorians, Greef and Carson = interesting.
Mission with some dude and the "curse your sudden and inevitable betrayal" villain = not interesting.

I’m sure there will be many who do not like today’s episode but I enjoyed it. I’m fine with self contained episodes that are side quests and this also definitely advanced the season plot.
I think its been a great season.

We could see from the trailers for this season that its all leading up to a reunification of Mandalore with Bo and Din leading with Grogu at the center. All these "filler" episodes as people call them is sprinkling context clues to advance the story. Too many are just impatient and want to get to the action right away. Life is a marathon not a sprint, everything happens over the course of the journey.

I've been impressed with the scope of this season. Every episode has at least one big action set piece and the quality level is great.

Do people complain about "side quest" episodes? Don't most episodes of this series fall under that label somewhat? It's a series of standalone adventures with an over arching plot weaved through. Works for me.

This episode also serves as a reminder that George Lucas once created a race of characters with fish heads, named them Calamari, and no one stopped him.

Star Wars is for 12 years old.

And when grown (!) men make 20 minute nerdrrage videos and rant about an episode of Star Wars that is funny, or has whimsy, or doesn't have bloody and gory deathmatch duels, and call for people to be fired, and spend time mocking up bizarre thumbnails of Star Wars characters crying...

... well, I guess they haven't matured up to 12 years old yet.

Nooooooooooooo........oooooooooooooo!

Looks like Mandalorian just jumped the shark. What sane person would think that putting Lizzo into Star Wars is a good idea??? Totally took me out of it.... and she can't act... at all. Talk about a wooden performance. It's Megan the Stallion all over again. It's really unfortunate for poor Bryce Dallas Howard, she is such a great director. But they handed her a mess to work with.

Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd took me out of it as well. At least put some makeup or masks on these guys if you're going to use them. They're way too famous to just be random characters. Christopher Lloyd would have been great as a monkey looking alien. Look at the guy!!!

12 year olds don't pay for the merch and movie tickets.
