I suspect this is leading to the term "strand-cast" being uttered by Pershing soon, which is also heading to Snoke and Rey's parents.

I can't wait until they get to the part where Mando finds out about the plan to clone the Emperor. He thinks they stopped it but doesn't know about the Sith Occultists. All he did was make them do it elsewhere. So ultimately he fails. He knows The First Order has evil plans. He goes and tells Carrie Fishers face deep faked onto Billie Lourd. Leia goes and tell's the New Republic who are just pathetic and don't believe her. They're just the Empire with a new face. Then Din, Han, Leia and Luke join forces to start the Resistance.

Agree - this season has been a bit up and down timewise.
I still enjoy the show but it feels different this season. I get they are trying to widen the series out to tie into the upcoming new series but at times it feels like Din has been sidelined and we have more stand alone stories about other characters with mando top and tailing the episode rather than it being about mando.
I thought the choice of Kelleran Beq in the flashback was interesting - maybe Jon and Dave are trying to repay Ahmed Best after the jar jar backlash
I found it frustrating that the previous episode spent the majority on the Dr. How Grogu survived order 66 was relegated to a flashback.

I know people mock this incessantly, but is it because they don't like it as a plot point or do people really need an explanation.
Palpatine came back via cloning. We don't really need to have it explained. Heck, it was the basis for a comic book long before the sequel movies.
Not that I object to fleshing out the story, but it was one of those obvious plot points.

I agree. One of the nice things about the early mandalorian was its stand alone nature.
Too many shows get ruined by jumping down the continuity rabbit hole and devoting themselves to explaining things most people don’t really care about and loose the things that people originally loved about them. Mando isn’t there yet but could go that way if its on a quest to redeem the sequels
Not everything needs to connect and explain - it can be fun

Also they don't need to get bogged down in lore that is dumb and no one cares about. All this Mandalorian stuff is kind of dumb. I don't care about the creeds and myths being explored. It's made up non-sense. It's fine when you get some hints of stuff that makes sense and is background. When the plot becomes about the non-sense, it loses me.
It's like a lot of the super hero stuff lately. It's just magic, garbage mumbo jumbo made up and can be anything. So who gives a crap.

The whole former Empire people trying to use Grogu for their own nefarious purposes has been a plot point since the start of this show, so I don't see it as being less standalone than when it started. I imagine the showrunners always planned to tie into the larger universe.
In fairness, everything in Star Wars is made up non-sense. I imagine some people care about the Jedi and the force less that some care about the Mandalorian stuff.

Bo-Katan's opportunity to join the Mandalorian creed is a really compelling plot thread IMO. So I kinda disgree, while I agree that *all* fantasy is made up. Believe it or not.

Neither really. It's mocked because that line represents what plagued the sequels...a lack of planning.
The fact that Palpatine returned via cloning (which had previously been done in novels) was never remotely hinted at in Force Awakens or Last Jedi, and was only introduced at the last minute because they wrote themselves into a corner.
I wouldn't mind the shows like Mando delving into the Sith occult and cloning that led to that moment, especially since I thought that was one of the most interesting parts of the sequels, similar to what the Clone Wars TV show did for the prequels.

The problem I have is that the sequels were awful and I want to forget they exist.
The practical problem is that there's no point wasting time setting up pay offs and events that happen in films that the vast majority of people don't give a damn about. It's one thing to do prequels for films that are beloved and rewatch. It's a whole new bag to sit there trying to set up films that practically no one likes or rewatches. Disney has the figures. They know no one on Disney+ watches the sequels.
There's no satisfying way any plotline can be resolved in the TV shows that leads into the sequels. Especially with how the sequels were written. The first two sequels were undermined by the third with Sith Occultists and Palpatine. So what, have a TV show setting up even more stuff that undermines the entire notion of The First Order? If the imperial remnants were aware of the Sith Occultists, it further undermines Kylo Renn as a dumb .
There's no salvaging how dumb those films are.

Just caught up on the past two weeks' episodes.
Ep 3 - was 50 minutes too long and felt like a bad Andor episode.* Torturously dull and lasted forever. The A plot should always include Mando. B plot whatever. But 9 minutes of Mando and 50 minutes of "Is this done yet?" did not make for compelling storytelling no matter how desperately they want to service the sequel trilogy.
Ep 4 - wonderful. Bo-Katan has so grown on me these past few episodes. A solid side quest with growth for our main characters (Mando & Grogu, Bo-Katan). And having Ahmed Best as a badass Jedi who saves Grogu??? Oh H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS YES! This is the way. FINALLY.
