The sad thing to me is that I thought the show was decent enough until the finale when the inexplicably made Sol a villain?! I’m still not sure exactly who we were supposed to be rooting for in the series. The sensible people died, the annoying people lived and the main character who we seemed to be supposed to identify with killed a person who had her back her whole life.

I’m just wondering exactly was the pitch for this show that got it approved.

Did you ever read those puff-piece interviews the writer would give explaining what she was intending after each episode?

How she explained what was going on made zero sense in logic, morality or within what happened in the show.

I assume that the pitch that made Kathleen cry was all about an emotion story of sisters that didn't actually happen in the show.

It is still shocking how badly they handle Star Wars.

i’ll say the obvious. the force was not strong with this show. if skeleton crew flops, they should just stick with the mandalorian. just my opinion.

They have kind of stuffed themselves. Skeleton Crew doesn't look bad, but it doesn't at all seem Star Wars. The Acolyte seemed Star Wars but was Star Wars done bad by people who don't understand good vs evil. I can only use myself and other Star Wars fans I know, but it's not a show we'd watch if it wasn't Star Wars. So will we watch it just because it is?

It's not made for us. I watched the first episode of Ms Marvel, it was fine but not a show for me. How much do these shows aimed at younger people, not for the main fan base bring in new fans?

The new Alien film wasn't great, but it's probably a good vehicle at bringing new people into the franchise. It's still an Alien film. Why would Goonies in space make people Star Wars fans?

I think it remains to be seen whether Filoni will be good or not as he hasn't been in charge very long. So I say at least wait until his first movie releases.
He’s a bit too loyal to George and the EU…and doesn’t profile to have the chops to lead the business end in Hollywood.

Just how it seems

Good as a creative guy to work on some things though

The head of ILM…more or less

Wrote rogue 1

He and his brother invented adobe photoshop when they were horribly young

Was one of the visual effects supervisors on the prequels

Basically…a highly intelligent guy who displays way more common sense than most genius types

Which means Disney would hate him as Lucas head…because he wouldn’t do dumb things for politics and try to pass it off as the hack filmmakers “get it” and are “big fans”

They drove off a lot of the Mandalorian fans last season also… at this point I’m curious what it’ll take for Disney to put someone else in charge of Star Wars because viewership has been going lower and lower with each series.

I think he’s brilliant. But his only “story“ credit is for Rogue One. Which I loved, but was famously retooled throughout production.
Again, brilliant guy. But there are at least a half-dozen others who have more narrative storytelling experience (Filoni, Favreau, a host of the directors for Mando series) that would be more suited to this.

Hubris

Will never admit they do anything wrong

Star Wars was the quintessential modern pop culture franchise…it really solidified the blockbuster concept along with marketing tie ins. The ultimate NATO era property. There is nothing like it.

Disney believes it can overpower anything. George thought so too…but to a lesser extent.

Star Wars fandom is a 2,000 lb bull with an attitude problem…they both found out if you mess with it…you’ll get the horns.

Daisy Ridley is cool and all though. She needs the work 🙄

He’s more appropriate than filoni in some ways…less in others

Doesn’t matter…Iger has to go…then Kennedy.

Nothing changes until those happen. The die is cast

Kennedy is effectively gone at this point, she'll depart at the end of the year officially as she retires. So you don't have to wait much longer.

I just started Acolyte about a week ago, still have 2 episodes left. If I'm being honest and take my Star Wars goggles off, it's not very good. None of the characters are very cool or likeable. It's not well written. If it didn't have the SW elements of sabers and ships and aliens, I can't imagine anyone wasting their time with it. That said, I still prefer it right now over Ashoka.

You are not alone. The Acolyte season 2 was cancelled apparently.

I tried to start watching it but gave up.

I watched the first 2 episodes but wasn’t really intrigued so I gave up also, with so much content shows really only get a couple episodes to hook people, if they don’t most will move on to the next thing, the major exception coming from positive word of mouth, if people keep talking about how good a show is a lot of people will give it another chance, something the Acolyte is unlikely to benefit from.

This is where I think season 1 of the Mandalorian absolutely shined, I was instantly hooked by the concept of the space western, they set the hook even deeper with the introduction of baby Yoda a few episodes later. D+ Star Wars has been far more miss than hit unfortunately.

History only repeats itself until it doesn't, at which point new history is created. The idea that Iger will stay forever is just a boogie man story fans who hate him tell themselves.
He ran and then had himself reappointed

That’s the record…not a ghost story oogie boogie

New history will be created when he’s tossed and not a day before
