I’ve got 10 credits on things turning around because Wim uses the force to steal the lightsaber.
Wim… or KB, who is the kid the series has hinted might be force sensitive. It sort of depends on whether this is getting another season. If it isn’t, Wims dreams are realized and his character arc completed. If it is, KB being the potential Padawan opens up more storylines.

Those who are force sensitive are usually shown to have good instincts. Wim by his own admission has terrible instincts. Seeing how the show loves to plant seeds that pay off later, I'd say Fern's line in episode three where she says "Guess KB has the force too" could be a seed. I honestly don't think any are going to be shown to be force sensitive in this season.

I'm still expecting some huge twist with Jod. And I think there will be a flashback showing how the ship ended up crashed. I think that the fact SM-33 was holding a lever as his last act is key.

Love the show and it benefits greatly from repeat viewings. Looking forward to watching it again as a whole once we get the last episode.

So this episode was more Pirates and Goonies meets Wizard of Oz. With barely any Star Wars to the entire story beyond a few token nods to a light saber and some ships, the whole thing was basically a generic kid space show. Mmkay.

Still never explained who the pirate captain was when they deliberately obscured that character's appearance, but whatever. I guess that leaves it open for the backstory to be a season two. But I'd've rather gotten a second season of Acolyte, which actually seemed to be a Star Wars show, even if it wasn't successful in its storytelling.

What do you consider to be 'star wars to the story'? Only Jedi vs Sith stories? Only Empire vs everyone stories? The story is very much rooted in Star Wars concepts and players/roles. (regulated space vs lawless, threat of rogues, the role and transparency (or lack of) of government, different cultures and locales co-mingling, scrappy people trying to make their way, etc)

The Star Wars universe spans tens of thousands of years. I think you need to open your mind a bit of what you think of 'star wars'

Short of a light saber and a few ship flyby's, nothing about this show indicated its universe. IMO
you do realize it's the norm that every film basically introduces a new planet we've never been to before right?

You didn't see any of this in the series?
The old republic...
the droids...
the legends of jedi and their role... vs reality of present life
the new republic itself trying to play peace keeper and establishing order

Not every story is going to tie into the conflict of the jedi vs the sith... and thank goodness for it.

Well it ended with happy ending and completed the story. No cliff hanger. I was expecting more from the parents. Why are the parents completely useless in calling for the Republic? Shouldn't the Republic be able to get pass the shield without help? Why would the Empire or the new Republic leave a mint / repository completely unguarded run by a computer with no automated defense ships? Sure it had a shield but shouldn't it had triggered an alarm when the computer was destroyed? Why do the workers live in total isolation from the rest of the galaxy? Why do they believe any guy that shows up with a lightsaber and gives him the keys to kingdom? Why didn't Jod just force grab the lightsaber back or shot the kid? It's not like the kid could deflect blaster bolts with the lightsaber. The ending could have been better.

You mean like how the parents did not do much in The Goonies which this was a clear homage

The government that set this place up is long gone... This was an OLD republic setup - not the post Empire NEW republic who is now the agency running things.. and just barely.

Yes - for all intents - this is like a desert island situation that has no idea what was going on in the outside universe.

My bigger question is... why does a Mint keep working if no one comes to pickup the goods? Why would they run for generations without any normal engagement with their heiarchy connectings and picking up what they are making.

It makes it sound like the droids could have isolated the humans from that... but then we can clearly see anytime a ship comes in, everyone can see it. So.. it should be clear that no normal pickups have been happening for a generation or more.
