A salt mine…in a bayou…?!

It’s not uncommon. The salt mines are at Avery Island, Louisiana which is in Cajun country out by Bayou Teche and the Atchafalaya river. The salt is mined there to make Tabasco Sauce.

Problem is that it’s literally on the other side of the state from New Orleans….actually closer to the Texas line than it is to Nola.
EDIT - after checking the map, it looks more equal distance between Texas and Nola. Huh.

Would be like blending Philadelphia with Pittsburgh….which I’ve discovered Pittsburgh denizens (Pittsburghians? Pittsburgers?) find highly disrespectful.

As controversial as it may seem to some, I am actually really looking forward to this now, where I was a bit more reserved about it in the past. For one, the concept art doesn't look like blurry blobs, like Epcot's concept art infamously did. That, at least to me, gives it some more completeness compared to some other modern Disney projects. If insiders are right, extra care seems to be taken now as well.

Let's just hope it keeps on delivering good.

Well they are on diffrent sides of the state and most people in PA aren't to fond of Philadelphia. Since people always ask "oh you're from PA so you're near Philadelphia right?

The ride is apparently a "prequel" to the D+ series. New characters from the series will also appear in the ride. I'm guessing some of them are the ones from this image (just a safe assumption)-

This strikes me as making everything much worse. I really like PatF. I absolutely do not care about this D+ series. The fact that Imagineers and management would think it was a good idea to base the redo of a theme park masterpiece, the highest profile redo in Disney parks history, not on the company’s final hand drawn masterpiece, the capper to their traditional animation legacy, but on an episodic streaming cartoon of no particular significance seems to show in an almost caricatured way how little they understand the significance of the ride - or their theme parks in general.

This redo will likely stand for decades. The cartoon will likely be forgotten in a few years at best. Or perhaps that’s the source of my confusion - does Disney view this as a temporary overlay? What other Disney rides, let alone ones of this scale, are based on what amounts to a weekday afternoon cartoon?

I trust Merlin, but I simply cannot square their optimism with every… single… thing Disney is doing with and saying about this project.

At this point, just tear it down.

Yeah, it's like basing Galaxy's Edge on the sequels.
Not necessarily the route with longevity.

Agreed. This reminds me of Ellen's Energy Adventure.

Reminds me of Dinosaur.

Plenty of classic, beloved characters that don't have rides, but Aladar, from a movie that is not well remembered (or remembered at all), gets to be in one because that's what they were marketing at the time.

(Even if Aladar's actual presense is minimal and logically it can't actually be him.)

It sort of rewrites history on how salt was mined, which romanticizing history is the reason often people like to think Disney was doing in the first place due to song of the south ties to splash.

They refuse to accept that synergy of a plush and merch selling situation is enough.

I Googled and read. Interesting, and I’m always learning.
Funny thing is, we are never without Tabasco at our house, and my grandparents on my Moms side made similar years ago from the same/similar peppers they grew in the garden on their farm.
Good stuff…!!!!! :hungry:

I'm not sure why it keeps striking me as kind of hilarious how unimaginative Tiana is when it comes to naming things.

She has Tiana's Place, now Tiana's Foods and I imagine her house has a sign reading Tiana's House out the front and everything in her pantry is labelled Tiana's paprika, Tiana's oregano, Tiana's garlic powder, etc.

When she gets more money, she’ll build Tiana Tower and start selling Tiana Steaks and found the questionable Tiana University.

I’m starting to rethink my opinion of Tiana…

To be fair, it’s no more unimaginative than Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

This seems premature and alarmist. We haven’t even seen the show yet—it could be amazing—and that the ride will tie in with it doesn’t mean it’ll be based on it as such.
