TyI believe he claimed Disney knew internally that Frozen 2 was going to be a huge failure at the box office.
TyBasically, and I forgot it was that user, but said insider on a Frozen thread kept going on about how Frozen 2 was going to be a complete failure, and then how it was a complete failure… meanwhile it kept grossing higher and higher, and was an obvious and undeniable success.
After the Frozen 2 debacle, I started questioning but still believed.
Now this.... Oof, I guess he's down to 79%, and I'm shook.
But let's not forget:

Do you have a source for this? I’m not challenging you; I’m genuinely interested in reading an authoritative account of what happened. The pressure was put on Baskett's win because people close to him, including Walt Disney, knew he was dying. Walt worried if the Oscar had been competitive, he might not get it.
The true insiders on here don’t make up some random percentage of how accurate they are without having any back up. They don’t need to continually remind people that they are an insider and then continually pat themselves on the back. Oh and let’s not forget the fact that you randomly post things that others already have posted or have been proven wrong on many things.
But hey, you are the insider with something like 87.674% accuracy.![]()
Unfortunately, many of the sources are books, and I would take the Korkis book with a grain of salt, because he has no citations and shows too much of a bias. He does mention that Walt Disney paid for Baskett's funeral and remained friends with his widow for the rest of their lives. I believe it may also be on the AFI page, and was mentioned by Nick Stewart in the TV legacies interviews which are on YouTube.Do you have a source for this? For funsies
Spoiler alert, he was terribly terribly wrong and never returned to the thread to admit any failure.
Ended around $1.5 billion..
Metacritic is the only indicator left that isn't used by the industry in clandestine ways the consumer doesn't understand. Disney wanted $150 million out of this one, they got $127 million. It's likely to grab a box office total of $500-600 million, far below the billion of the first.
Anyone know how fast Frozen hit 1 billion last time? Frozen 2 looks like it will do it pretty soon.
Comparing domestic totals it took Frozen about 40 days to hit $300M compared to 17 days for Frozen 2. I did the math very quickly so I might be off by a few days.
Actually, that number came from a publicly-posted audit. If you want to scroll through my post history hard enough, it's in there shared on this site.
As for "true insiders" and foul artic fowl, all I can tell you is that I'm in direct contact with the daughter of a Song of the South actor as she works to preserve her father's legacy. But you all are the experts. Have fun, I'll be back in another month or two.
Sorry, the only thing I embrace is my wife…I know better…Why does it matter anymore? Splash Mountain is closing. Get over it. Whether it’s for the problematic history of the source material, the fact that the ride needs a rehab anyway, the Brers merch not selling, Tiana being a more marketable & merchandisable character, etc. The ride is closing and Tiana’a Bayou Adventure is coming, we should all embrace the change and hope that this new attraction is amazing
Of course Brer merchandise isn’t selling…hasn’t been available for years…you don’t think if it was available now it wouldn’t be selling out constantly? Why does it matter anymore? I guess they are saying that because the 30th anniversary merchandise didn't sell well apparently? But yes if Disney had Brer merchandise now it would be a fast sellerOf course Brer merchandise isn’t selling…hasn’t been available for years…you don’t think if it was available now it wouldn’t be selling out constantly?
They do still. They are on pins and some shirts.I guess they are saying that because the 30th anniversary merchandise didn't sell well apparently? But yes if Disney had Brer merchandise now it would be a fast seller
Ah I'm not really a pin guy so I don't keep up on those. I'm still bummed I couldn't get a sweatshirt I'll pay Disney's mark-up not some scalpers. They do still. They are on pins and some shirts.
We’ve been there 4 times in the past 3 years and my DD was there last week and there was NO Splash merch. ( and she even checked at Cast Connections)They do still. They are on pins and some shirts.
I agree that it would be selling well now given the impending closure and perceived future scarcity, but I could also buy the argument that it has not historically sold well relative to other park merchandise.Of course Brer merchandise isn’t selling…hasn’t been available for years…you don’t think if it was available now it wouldn’t be selling out constantly?
I bought a Splash Mountain mug in 2018, and the shop was full of them and other Br'er merchandise. I don't think it started selling out (or being resold at massive markups on eBay) until after the announcement of the retheme in 2020.I agree that it would be selling well now given the impending closure and perceived future scarcity, but I could also buy the argument that it has not historically sold well relative to other park merchandise.
