I was thinking the opposite. Maybe they’re minimizing the splash to make it tamer
Agree. Not sure if there’s anyway you can add trim brakes to the drop(s) but I thought I recalled some mention months ago they were looking at making changes to the drops to reduce the intensity of the splashdown/wetness to make the ride more appealing for families with young kids so as not to damage princess dresses or Tiana merch brought on ride.

I presumed this meant the log design would change. We’ll see though.

Is 7,000 enough of a number to call them layoffs? Or are these lost jobs still just "staffing reductions" instead of layoffs?

7,000 of them. At least that's gonna make the line at the Burbank Starbucks shorter! And make it easier to find a parking space!

"Bob Iger, in his first earnings call since returning to the company, announced Walt Disney Co. will shed 7,000 jobs as part of a broader effort to save $5.5 billion in costs."

Oh, you're bringing this up to me three times in one night.

See my responses in the other threads.

The drop isn’t going anywhere but they are taking a welding torch to what appeared to be the bottom of the drop ride track last night. They better not make our flume get you drenched like DL.

“Stop your crying! It’s still going to be the same ride with the same thrills and drop!”

Just saw a youtube video from someone who often reports on a lot of "insider" stuff at Disney and especially Star Wars. I think we all know WDW's Splash is toast unfortunately, but there may be some hope for Disneyland's if what he reports is true! Looks like it was posted yesterday (2/7/23).

Ignore this idiot, he's a lunatic and doesn't know what he's talking about.

My guess is that the welding is probably just standard maintenance on the ride structure/mechanics. They've done similar work multiple times in the past. They have to actually refurbish the existing structure as well, not just swap out the scenery.

Yeah, that rumor was already posted in one of the dozen Splash/Tiana threads and thoroughly debunked as laughably naive.

The person you're linking to is a crazed anti-Disneyite. As mentioned above, he's been leaking the rumor from an inside source that Kathleen Kennedy is about to be fired... and doing so for the past 4 years.

He has no source. And he just makes stuff up. I fact checked him in his comments once and his response was he just didn't care.

Stay away from this looney.

Disliking Disney isn't the problem and doesn't describe what he is. His channel is essentially "qanon for nerds". There's an endless supply valid reasons to criticize and dislike Disney over, the things he rants about almost always aren't valid reasons. At least not the framing and reasons he provides.

He's a fake news farm who has been making the same video at least once a week for the past 3+ years now claiming that Kathleen Kennedy has been fired.

My apologies. Just being hopeful. I wouldn't go to Disneyland again anyway, but it gave me some hope that maybe there was some pushback from within the company. It's really ridiculous how much this angers and depresses me. At least there's still Tokyo.

I definitely recommend going to Disneyland.

As far as being angry: It’s natural to have nostalgia for rides we used to love don’t let it anger you that much. I think folks are just trying to warn you to keep your expectations in check.

I do appreciate people sharing what’s being said on YouTube, Reddit, etc on these forums since it’s interesting even if the “rumors” are frankly borderline snake oil. It’s still interesting fodder.

The attraction makes sense for Disneyland (because of New Orleans Square), but not Disney World.

I would have rather seen something that sticks with the theming like Country Bears. A CB version could have been like their Summer Vacation show. Which unfortunately I never got to see in person. Judging from the videos and pictures though Randy the Skunk looked like he stole the show.

I just learned Frank Welker played Randy the Skunk. Geez, what a talent, he lent his voice to so many iconic characters.

Right?!? 🤔

Or, you know, by simply "eliminating open headcount", which is another term that a few folks are trying to use this afternoon to claim that these aren't actually "layoffs". But they're layoffs. 7,000 of them. Even very pro-industry sources like Variety are calling them that.

Doing one better than Variety, even Disney's own news division at ABC is calling them "layoffs". Although technically, ABC is using the two-word version of the phrase. Lay off.

Well, with Amy Robach and TJ Holmes gone, now Disney only needs 6998….c’mon “friends”, get friendlier!!! We need our CM’s!!!

I’m at the point where I’m just fine with the upset people being upset.

Then I guess it’s better you’re not in charge. Choosing a much less popular property over a more popular one that sells merch is not the way to go.

And I love CBJ.
