The automated computers? lolNah, my sources aren't bus drivers, they're monorail drivers.
I do that and they call me unstable. WeirdThose guys are more stable, they just run around in circles
Let's be real, the brief 2D revival was just Bob Iger trying to win favor with Roy Disney. Roy died after Princess and the Frog's premiere and...No, the decision was already made by then. Remember these things take time to make. 2011 Winnie the Pooh as a traditionally animated was set in stone then but the 2013 movie (they were alternating between traditional and CGI) was changed from the intended traditionally animated to CGI (yeah Frozen was not going to be CGI).
I wish it had been. That likely would have drastically changed the course of history and proved that traditional animation wasn't "outdated".
The ride is done tho. It was built under Chapek. They’ve already ridden it in 3D simulations.I'm cautiously optimistic that Bob Iger will give the Splash Mountain retheme into Tiana's Bayou Adventure the budget it deserves. If they replaced the initial version with something that felt crappy and low-budget, there would be a backlash. And Iger — who does not want to seem racist at all — isn't going to want to look like he's giving Tiana a cheap ride.
Did the logs not move through the ride as needed? Was there anything inherent in the ride mechanics that made it unworkable? What cracks me up are the folks so out of tune with reality. The folks that posted "in mourning" or can't believe this is the last ride. Blah blah blah. They do realize the same ride will be back in 2 years right? Same exact layout, just new and updated theming. Which let's be honest. Splash has been in bulldoze mode for about 15 years. Half of it didn't work so much of the time and it was totally acceptable to the TDO.
Has anyone seen a video from yesterday to see the condition of the mountain?
The only way to truly fix it is to get it back to the bare bones and start again.
ThisMaybe they'll do it right, but I have a feeling the drop is going to be something stupid like
"OMG! We found the secret ingredient! It's over the bayou!" (I almost threw up writing that and I barely slept [not due to Splash. Man, these brackets must be confusing to you, dear reader]). Because remember, Disney has not had an actual threat for what, since Princess and the Frog?
The drop was fun but definitely not why it was a must do for meDid the logs not move through the ride as needed? Was there anything inherent in the ride mechanics that made it unworkable?
We’ll see in two years how much of the love
for the ride was the theming, or just because it had a big drop.
People are selling water from Splash Mountain on Ebay... the scalpers probably can't sell anything anymore.
"Splash Mountain Souvenir Water" is being sold on ebay! The water was gone from the ride in seconds. They're dropping the water table trying to replenish the ride's supply pumping from deep wells. Mason jars on the ride are being limited to one per customer, but some jerks are sneaking limited edition popcorn buckets on. 8 hour lines!
On the bright side the US economy is saved. Boomtown. The Bankman-Fraud family has launched their new crypto coin SMC "Splash Mountain Coin" using the water as an underlying stablecoin asset. Apparently they had wild party trips to WDW scooping up enough water to back 8 trillion in, er, assets, I guess.
The drop was cool, bit my favorite part was the bluegrass Zip outside the finale. Cause that Harmonica player (Tom Ball?) goes HARD on that solo. The drop was fun but definitely not why it was a must do for me
I honestly don’t think the imagineers are stupid enough to ignore the “story” that splash invoked…with the ride getting real dark and scary right before the lift hill. And then the cheerful ending. They will definitely write that into this new story as well. If they don’t, then these new imagineers have failed brilliantly. Maybe it’ll be so bad it’s good? This
They’ve already said the villain from PATF will not be in it. (Keith David is a phenomenal voice over actor whose voice is so powerful and commanding)
So where are they going with this? In most of the recent Disney E-tickets they’ve teased the plot to the ride. This one not so much. So it either means they don’t have one(yet) or the one they have is so terrible they’ll keep it quiet. Based on the group of “imagineers” working on this, it could be either one.
No offence, but I don’t think it’s for you to “get” why some people are experiencing a visceral reaction to the closure of a much loved ride.I don't get some of the more dramatic reactions to this ride "closure".
It will still be a well themed log ride. I'd wager many of the components will carry over.
Are people really that attached to Song of the South? It's a fairly dull movie that most people only vaguely remember.
It's a good ride, but this isn't like when Disney actually removes classic attractions in favor of something dramatically different or inferior.
The model they showed at D23 shows the final lift hill will be bright and colorful. It won't be like going into Brer Fox’s lair.I honestly don’t think the imagineers are stupid enough to ignore the “story” that splash invoked…with the ride getting real dark and scary right before the lift hill. And then the cheerful ending. They will definitely write that into this new story as well. If they don’t, then these new imagineers have failed brilliantly. Maybe it’ll be so bad it’s good?
There are a few ways to get a ton of space for a true Villains area in MK.I was thinking it'd be cool to take the Liberty Belle Riverboat "to" Tiana's Place but I don't know if that'd really work either. Pecos Bills would likely be the easier retheme.
So long as the villain land is it's own concept. Tom Sawyer's Island could become "Isle of Evil" or some other such ridiculousness.
It’s funny you say that, because one of my favorite parts was the dramatic steamboat bell (DING DING) that punctuated that same instrumental. Call me crazy, I’ll be the first to admit it, but it’s something that’s always stuck with me from my very first ride in ‘94.The drop was cool, bit my favorite part was the bluegrass Zip outside the finale. Cause that Harmonica player (Tom Ball?) goes HARD on that solo.
I’ve said numerous times…park the Liberty Belle and convert it to a restaurant. By docking it, you can build pedestrian bridges to TSI and build a few NOLA themed rides there. You could either make the LB Tiana themed, OR, make it HM themed and add the Tiana restaurant to TSI.Absolutely. A Tiana’s place New Orleans style sit down restaurant with an outdoor counter to serve beignets would have been amazing. With the riverboat in the area, they could have redone/made TSI a New Orleans themed area as well.
So many better ideas than redoing Splash
So not the same ride, got it. Sorry, but that's a pretty lame take. So if pirates was turned into a bugs life, it wouldn't matter because, well the ride system stayed the same. The folks that posted "in mourning" or can't believe this is the last ride. Blah blah blah. They do realize the same ride will be back in 2 years right? Same exact layout, just new and updated theming.
About as much as future world in Epcot being about the futuresoo. Still Frontierland?
