The railroad narration would have to change too.I wonder how long it’s gonna take to change the storyline on the Liberty Belle Riverboat since it mentions Chic-a-pin as you pass by…(still mentioned in mid December)

True…I haven’t ridden it in such a long time, I forgot about that…The railroad narration would have to change too.
Because no child has ever ridden splash mountain, ever.I certainly haven’t read all the 576 pages of comments here about the retheme. I may be wrong, but has anyone considered the disconnect with creating a Tiana ride on an existing ride system with a 50-foot drop? I’ve always thought of Splash Mountain as a family ride, but one that is centered on slightly older kids. With a princess-themed ride, I’m sure Disney is going to try to market it more to younger kids (much like Frozen in Epcot). The question I’m wondering about is whether that younger crowd is going to ride a ride with that drop at the end?
Anything you can think of which *might* be problematic or need suspension of belief (as is needed for all other themed rides) has been mentioned many times and quite forcefully.I certainly haven’t read all the 576 pages of comments here about the retheme. Frozen Ever After's Drop is 28ft...I certainly haven’t read all the 576 pages of comments here about the retheme. That’s not what I’m saying. Obviously young kids ride Splash, just like every other ride. However, are young kids the exception or the rule on that ride?Because no child has ever ridden splash mountain, ever.
When I read my above post a realized how it sounds so let me explain further.
Tiana is an extremely important princess for many reasons.
If you ask the imagineers in charge of this project if they would rather tell her story by
A: Shoehorning Tiana into Splash’s ride system forcing them to tell a story in a way that matches
whats already there
B: Decide what story they want to tell and how they want to tell it. Then create a ride system that gives Tiana the ride she deserves.
If the imagineers in charge of this would choose B that makes what Disney is doing truly disgusting.
The first African American Princess to have a ride in a Disney Park and she isn’t even worth doing to right.
Sad.
Personally, I think the story itself is a bit lacking but it is absolutely beautifully drawn, Tiana is awesome and the music is superb.I’ve never seen princess and the frog. Is it worth the watch? I figured I’ll eventually watch it before I ride the new ride.
But is it a smart business decision? They’re taking a classic ride that appealed to kids and adults alike and turning it into a princess-themed ride. Disney continues to lose ground to Universal, especially in attracting the teen and young adult crowd. I don’t have a problem with removing SOTS, more with shoving Tiana into the wrong type of ride.It was really Dis-Twitter and some bloggers that said the ride being racist was the reason. However you are correct officially speaking Disney always said it was about bringing more Tiana into the parks. More princess real-estate more opportunities to sell Tiana merchandise. I have a feeling this this was more buisness driven then altruistic.
Okay that’s good to hear. I think that’s one of the things that made Splash so memorable/special was the catchy songs—Laughing Place and Zip A Dee Doo Dah. So as long as there’s catchy music, it might not be too bad.Personally, I think the story itself is a bit lacking but it is absolutely beautifully drawn, Tiana is awesome and the music is superb.
So their taking a ride that appealed to kids and adults alike, and are going to replace it with a ride that will *checks my notes* appeals to kids and adults alike. But is it a smart business decision? It’s a smart business decision. Tianas Bayou Adventure will print $$$$$$$. The princesses make Disney millions in merchandising, adding another princess to MK is great for them. I’m sure there will be speciality food offerings and much more when it opens. Also this was kinda discussed a while back, the thrill of Splash mountain isn’t changing. I think the thrill + water ride factor of the attraction means that it’s not in danger of turning guests away. Plus for the first few years, it’ll be a “brand new attraction”, and they didn’t have to actually build anything new. With the ILL revenue the refurb will pay for itself in a few short years. Your post also sticks to the belief that princesses are for girls, this ride will appeal to everyone. But is it a smart business decision? Don’t get too excited the ride isn’t going to use the movies songs (instead have new ones “inspired” by the movie.)Okay that’s good to hear. Depends. It will have very long lines for at least the first couple of years. Since it's a log flume ride, it will continue to have very long lines during the day. If they release a really well made sequel film, it would cement the decision as "smart."But is it a smart business decision? I believe it was mentioned somewhere that it will tie into the new Tiana show coming to Disney+. Either a song or maybe just the outfits/adventures she’ll be having on that showDepends.
