I'm only in favor of this salt mine idea if the following happens: The salt mines lead to Moria where Tiana faces off with a Balrog and returns as Tiana the White thus rendering the attraction noninclusive and closed.

I supported the retheme from Song of the South to Princess and the Frog mainly because I thought the Princess and the Frog was a great concept for a Bayou flume ride. But if they get rid of Dr. Facillier, the Friends on the Otherside, and the fireflies, a lot of the appeal of the retheme is lost.

You don’t like turn of the century co-ops? Wow. Time to get with the times.

It is mildly amusing that Disney looked at a log flume dark ride and thought- employee owned food cooperative that bolsters neighboring communities was a good angle for a backstory.

That might work in a restaurant... maybe. But even then that'd be a tough theme to execute.

But in a dark ride? What's the story gonna be- they ran out of milk so Tiana has to make it to Costco before they close?

I don't think much of this convoluted backstory will actually be featured much in the ride itself beyond some visual clues and lines of dialog, but it does feel like the design team's big takeaway from the film was that Tiana owned a business and not the underlying reasons of why her dream was to open a restaurant in the first place.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure is like the inverse of Snow White's Adventure.

That ride was based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but barely featured those characters in favor of having all the scary scenes with the Witch strung together, with added chaos for good measure.

Now we get a Princess and the Frog ride that may not feature any of the scary/sad elements from the movie and just have Tiana and a few of the side characters.

@The Mom is not actively policing the forum 24 hours a day. If you see a comment that’s bound to get deleted, it doesn’t mean it’s been given the a-okay. It means the staff monitoring the site have finite time and are human. They’re not omnipresent, they have lives outside this forum.

They do a very good job monitoring the forum, all things considered.

The fireflies as a loss. The voodoo nonsense is good gone.

Funny how so many people who are upset out the attractions current form have no problems with voodoo. 🥴

Wake me up when it's over.

I don’t believe they do. But you would think so, since so many people are coming to conclusions about the ride, despite it not existing yet and despite Disney not having given the actual presentation at D23 yet.
I suppose I’m guilty of jumping to conclusions too, but I have to admit that the backstory they’ve come up with seems a total dud to me. I hope (truly, sincerely hope) that they prove me wrong, because till now, I’ve had faith in this project.

The only things they've given us to base anything on have been clumsy, cheap, and lazy output that seems badly put together. It's not a great leap to go immediately to the worst conclusion, if I can be honest.

Park fans won't win since they're losing a piece of Disney Parks history. Fans of the attraction as it currently sits won't win because, well, they're seeing the attraction get gutted for what appears to be a lesser experience. And Tiana fans won't win because this is not what anyone thinks when they talk about a Princess and the Frog ride.

Not to mention, it excludes anyone under 40 inches and will split families with small children apart. A purpose built attraction could have been designed thrilling, but also inclusive for the whole family.

Not to mention, DHS could have really used a ride like the one that should have been made. It's the only US Disney park that I can think with zero water rides.
