Bc it goes against the narrative of certain peoples opinions… ;)

What I said was that people were already clogging the thread with poorly thought out deductions based on the tiniest crumbs of new information, and that this is a bad tack given the kind of weekend we're going into.

But clearly many others are happy to just stew in their own speculation rather than let the actual information make its way to us.

My comment had nothing to do with theD23 info its about the mockery of this retheme and the “need” and decision to get rid of Splash

Going to miss the whole atmosphere of that area, the variations of Zipadeedoodah that play around the area and everything that comes along with it. Some things need, change and some love but to completely change the entire feel to a place that’s well loved is plain stupid, that goes for the entire park.
This right here

I just wish WDW would get its own version of this, that model is clearly made for Disneyland, and something they will try to retrofit into here to save a buck. Im all for the cypress trees and what not, but that tacky slummy water tower absolutely not. Not to mention de-mountain-ing a Magic Kingdom mountain. The company and imagineers have lost all sense and creative ability. What bothers me even more is here we go again with more cheap banners plot welcoming us to a character reunion party if the model is any indication. Its lazy and and watered down (no pun intended) with no point other than another fairytale toddler ride and or the pandering they seem to be doing. I think they are going to have more problems with this than they ever had with Splash, they never even had problems with splash, its all been created from the outside and then internally.

It's both. At the beginning of the movie, when she's singing "Almost There," her internal concept art says Tiana's Place. Once she's a princess and it actually opens, it's Tiana's Palace. Because she's a princess.
Hey, that actually makes sense! It’s a pity her ride is not going to be over by the Horseshoe, which geographically (in the park) could easily become a Tiana’s Palace and is a waste in its current state, anyway.

I wonder what is getting converted at DL.

Is this the future of every Disney ride moving forward? I enjoy WDW as a means of escape. Do I need the back story that Tiana's company is employee-owned so I can enjoy it more, knowing she is not exploiting her workers? Good night...what a world.
Quite a few rides have backstories, complicated ones, too. At least the book report rides didn't need to provide a prologue.

They’re really leaning into the salt mine thing, huh? That’s amazing! Hope no one has Google (or an adequate education in US history).

And putting aside the specific history of this particular location, am I the only one familiar with the idioms “working in a salt mine” or “back to the salt mine” to describe laboring in a depressing, repetitive, and/or exploitative environment?

Well, at least as a business owner in 1927 America, it’s all smooth sailing ahead for Tiana. Not a cloud in the sky as we glide into the next, promising decade.
Not to mention that the particular salt mine that this attraction was "inspired by" collapsed and killed two people last year.

I have to giggle at the amount of people who don't read this thread (or any boards for that matter) and are excited to go on a Tiana ride and then get there and are like....salt mines? :D
This feels like an epic troll move, TBH. Like, you remake two entire rides because of uncomfortable associations, and then you create a ride for your only African American Princess that 1) is a thrill ride that’s imposing to many people, kids and adults alike, with one of the most stringent height requirements, and 2) set it in salt mines with a wel documented history of using slave labor and indentured servants.

Did anyone think through these implications, both practically (little princesses won’t be able to ride, or will be too afraid to) and thematically (historical associations with the real life analogue)?
