Social media isn't representative of the actual world, just FYI.
Thanks for sharing that, I had never heard that before.
Well, is it not true?Ah the old slippery slope argument. You can always count on that one!
BUT WHAT ABOUT MY (SPLASH MOUNTAIN) HERITAGE?
I'm all for it. I'll never have to attempt to answer why such a ride still exists to my kids.
No.The current Disney model relies heavily on social media influencers. No?
Is that what you think of Tiana? She’s a rich white girl’s “black friend” because her mom works at her house.
I've never been to Disneyland so I can't say how well the re-theme fits the ride's location there, but it makes no sense in Orlando's Frontierland. It just reeks of lazy, condescending, pandering. I don't care that they're taking away the current theme, but why not give Tiana her own new attraction in Fantasyland where it makes sense? If space isn't available for that, how about something in the American Pavillion in Epcot? As the plans stand now, you'll go from the river and Tom Sawyer Island past Big Thunder Mountain to get to a ride that's supposed to take place in the "frontier" of 1920s Louisiana. The era and geography make no sense and Disney is now "honoring" their first Black princess by giving her an attraction that's just a new overlay on an existing ride. But at least the Twitter mob will be placated, I guess.
Uncle Remus wasn't a slave, nitwit. He was a sharecropper. Duh. Definition: a tenant farmer who gives a part of each crop as rent. He was a free man. Try not to paint everything you don't like with the same ignorant PC brush.
Man, some of y'all are taking this to extremes. It's just a retheme at the end of the day. The core of the ride is still there, it's just getting a different storyline.
It could be much worse.
It’s not if you know that Marty Sklar did the same thing and raked in millions as a consultant to be a company mouthpiece.
I wonder if Tokyo's version will stay as is.
It is the best version of the ride and would help lessen the blow of the other two going away.
This one stings. Splash Mountain is possibly my favorite ride in the world. I was okay with the changes to Pirates, because at least the ride still existed.
Social media has officially ruined society. The loudest 1% of people ruining everything. Mob mentality.
Will I ever return to a Disney Park? Nope, not WDW. I may give DL another try, as the new ride will fit well within New Orleans Square. But the ride still has to be good. If this ends up being “Watch a screen while you ride in a flume,” I’m done for good.
He should rephrase
Just because someone finds something offensive doesn't mean it's actually problematic. Some people are just easily offended.
Wait so the reason that it is racist is that there is a black man character who is happy and singing? Is that it? I was expecting much worse with everyone's reaction to it. Didn't realize a happy singing person was racist. Maybe historically inaccurate, but racist?
Sorry but your wrong. Disney doesn't keep having media days or giving away free trips to influencers just because. There's plenty of articles about how the parks are packed with young adults etc..
Can we please stop with these cringeworthy posts? Can we retheme Main Street USA since America is racist?
