The company line is that guests wanted a more "family friendly" environment. Total BS. I tend to believe that money had a lot more to do with it. TDO felt they could make more by leasing out the space to 3rd party vendors. I think there is something also to the notion that some less desirable elements of a "family friendly" environment tended to frequent the place...and not just gangs and criminals. Ultimately I think economics played the biggest role.

Money played a role as they took the turnstiles down in an attempt to grow street sales. They were looking to increase their margins and that backfired horribly.

But yes, looking to outsource became en vogue once they decided to try and copy city walk rather than being content with their existing profits.

Taking the turnstiles down made no sense to me. We always got the multi day tickets which included PI so we could always get in, but it kept things a little more contained. Did taking down the turnstiles happen before magic your way tickets? I would assume the cover alone would cover a lot of the overhead. I know the story is people didn't drink and so they were "losing" money, but I must have just visited on off nights because I know I gave my share of cash to PI and witnessed plenty of others doing the same. I spent more at PI then on meals in a given trip in the 90s. No joke there.

but kids thrive on it!
I prefer my adventures to be the stuff of legends. It's up to you to decide how much of the stories my friends will tell about me is urban legend and pure exaggeration and how much really happened. The camera phone takes way some of the mystery. I do wish I had video of a few nights:cool:

Why on earth would they do this to me?

I dunno but I've been asking myself that for the last two hours.

:(

Edit to add....remember when seasons of a show used to be like, 20 episodes? Like X-Files? I don't like this ten-and-done BS.

And you should come over next week to watch GoT. HD, 46 inch flat screen and there will be lots of food.

Sounds like a nice offer buy I live in Buffalo and the wife may question that :)

I also hate that the seasons are so short, I guess they are big budget and it's like a 10 hour long movie.

Could be, I've never attended the Food & Wine Festival. At least they had to pay a large amount of entrance fee to get to that state. I have also never seen any vomiting on Mission: Space even though I have ridden it many, many times.

Pleasure Island, after spending only two times there, did witness it, more then once.

I agree that the loss of entrance fees to PI did go a long way to not only ending PI but, in a bigger sense Adventurers Club. That show was very personnel intensive, all performance CM's. The couple of times I went to it, I noticed, because it was so obvious, that people would buy a drink and nurse it throughout the whole evening. They were counting on liquor sales to pay the bills there. It didn't happen. It had somewhat the same cult following that is prevalent in DL.
I actually mean "getting drunk at epcot" not "entering epcot drunk".
I mean due of the availability of booze.

Then bring the wife!! You're only a...err, handful of hours away :) last week the GoT party was at Miranda's house and this upcoming week it's at mine. We play Settlers of Catan and geek games beforehand and drink and eat typically Mexican food...though sometimes pizza and hoagies. There's between four and fifteen of us, depending on who can come that week.

GoT parties are fun! We've been arguing who will win the big fight next week...it's gonna get heated, lol

That sounds awesome, who is miranda should I know her? lol!

I wish the wife liked the show, she's such a trashy tv watcher. But I have to admit, breaking Amish is fascinating!

Megan is a h or rile person
