Oh those are fightin words.

When earl of sandwich starts selling tastykakes, call me.
Good point. Nobody bakes a cake as tasty as a tastykake.

I have family in AZ who when they came back to visit would bring an extra empty suitcase just to bring back Tastykakes. They have a store out there that carries them now. Good thing too since the airlines started charging for extra bags.

I agree with you about never noticing until after it was here but having said that, nit would be nice if cost savings didn't also effect the food. I don't expect them to discount park admissions because they're saving on napkins but I also do not thing they should cut back on food quality either.

Yeah, I can't really defend QS quality. I do, however, seem to have a soft spot for Cosmic Rays. I know the burger isn't awesome, but that's still my go to when we do eat QS. I think I'm blinded by the endless amount of cheese-like sauce at the condiment bar. TS wise, I have had an awesome (IMO) burger at Sci-Fi in DHS.

Back to QS, last week I was pleasantly surprised by the grilled turkey sandwich at Backlot Express.

But to be honest, as an AP, we often only spend about 5 hours in the parks each visit and we typically eat off property before or after. We do grab a Dole Whip, ice cream or popcorn every once in a while.

I miss Sheetz from back in Ohio. Wawa is slowly creeping its way up to where I'm at now in Central Fla.
I do LOVE Earl of Sandwich, and I even formed that opinion before ever seeing anything about it here.
I'm sure I'll enjoy Wawa's offerings once one opens nearby.

Sure, but even if it was in WDW as a clone, the likelihood of it being exactly the same is pretty small. I don't think it would make an iota of difference. They either want to go to DLP or they don't.

The biggest problem with DLP is the prices, for tickets, food and merchandise. ITS EXTORTIONATE, even compared to WDW.
To give you an idea, I went onto the websites for both. British tourists tend to go on holiday for a week plus. So disney world offers some very good value tickets.

A three day adult ticket to DLP (the longest you would really want to spend there due to size, etc) is £141- £47 a day.

Meanwhile, if I was to buy a 14 day ticket to disneyworld (the uk tickets give unlimited park hopping, water parks, minigolf) it would cost me £279- that's only £20 a day.

Then you look at food prices- we find disneyworld cheap for food when compared to DLP, with similar quality.

My point is, if you are choosing between saving up for a Florida trip, or a weekend at DLP- there is better value for money in Florida. Not to mention the staff are better, it's much better organised and all round the Florida product is better presented.

EDIT: also, I need help with this wawa thing. From what you guys have said- is it just a massive vending machine? Or a proper cafe in the petrol station?

A DLP AP is pretty cheap only 200E. I agree that the hotel rates are extortionate. I would love to know what occupancy levels they run.

It's not a cafe, there's no seating. It's basically a rest stop, there's screens for you to order sandwiches of your choosing and then the rest of the shop is similar to a clean version of 711.

Does Uni have any good sub sandwich spots? Don't they still have themed napkins? I saw some "Springfield" napkins when they opened it

I can't wait for @WDW1974 to come back and see us discussing gas station food. I've never eaten at a Wawa.
If you look past that wawa is just a convenience store, and wegmans is just a supermarket you can see they are directly related. There idea of a park with rides was around long before disney land. It took some very inventive thinking to make a theme park more than just rides.

Wegmans is not cheaper than the other local stores but they are wildly successful. And there is amazing fanfare surrounding a new store opening.

Wegmans (I've grown up with) and wawa (I'm told) were both brands that did not do things much differently than the rest of the crowd but they both evolved themselves and continue to deliver amazing service and go beyond what people expect from them.

If that doesn't directly reflect what is being conveyed here by 74, and how disney used to be, I guess I will never get it.

Uh so there's no seating? Then what are the tables and chairs outside of the store for?
I don't know about your Wawa but no location I've ever seen in NJ (and I've seen dozens) has had tables or chairs.

ETA: A quick Google search tells me tables were a test for Florida Wawas and haven't rolled out to the north east. Not sure why they would, eating outside wouldn't make sense with our weather most of the year.

I read somewhere around 75%. I doubt even half are paying full price because of the constant discounting. Last two times I booked were with the "2 Night Free!" promotion.

The comparatively cheap APs include a number of discounts. One is only 159 Euros (about 130 pounds) and still gets you 320 days of admission + parking, EMH, 10% off food and 25% off hotel rates.

They still do have the simpsons napkins, actually several of the restaurants in the parks have themed napkins. Fennigan's does for sure.

They are building a new sub place inside Citywalk called Bread Box, which is going to be next to the new Menchies, (which will actually have dole whip there when it opens https://twitter.com/menchiesORL ). Inside the parks, boulangerie near the front of the park has the most sandwiches, and Blondie's at IOA.

I always eat at Blondie's when I'm at IOA. They aren't earth shattering good but I really like them for a theme park sandwich.
