His face would look so much better if it was a screen.

If the Seven Dwarves looked anything like these static figures, certain members would be calling for the end of Disney as we know it. They look like bad Halloween masks, and the main goblin looks nothing like the main goblin from the movie.

First of all, the mine train has dancing mannequins at the end of the ride, those look like.... well mannequins. Secondly, the wicket witch aa is probably the last, great, (working) aa used in wdw. I'm sure if you got close, she would look like a mask as well. You're going to be a good distance from these figures and lighting will be perfect for them. This is very good stuff... and you're a silly boy.

They look... fine. It's very nice that Universal has sprung for a couple bored-looking goblin AAs for a queue area, but they're not particularly impressive and probably aren't meant to be. They remind me of the octopus-looking aliens pushing buttons in the Men In Black queue. The real fun comes later, I'm sure.

As for the "main goblin", I don't think it really matters that the speaking goblin looks different than the one that speaks to Harry in the first movie. When you go to the bank, it's never the same teller at every window, is it?

People in the Youtube comments have already pointed out that the style of the Goblins' dress changed signficantly from the 1st to the last movies- their clothing became much more modern and simple.

I think the Uni goblins look very good. I also think the Dwarves in 7DMT, while completely different, look equally as good. Both were designed to fit in their respective worlds, human and cartoon and both do perfectly in their intended environments based only on the vids I've seen.

I'm sure they look better from the riders pov. The video is incredibly close.

They are not in the ride they are in the queue so people will be rather close

And if you have followed my post you will know I am a big Uni fan but honestly these Gobblins, even the last one are just ok for me...I think some need to take off the Uni "rose colored glasses"

However! I am sure the queue and ride will be simply AHmazing!

I guess I'm missing something. I'm not a huge HP fan (actually, only recently saw all the movies and I'm still kinda meh on the whole shebang. I know "read the books" but I don't have time for that right now) but I'm really digging the little clip that was released. The goblin characters like great. I don't see the masks that yall are pointing out.

Perhaps it's the strep throat/fever/at work combo, or maybe I'm not looking at critically as you guys are, but to me... a total nobody (might I add, a nobody who is the target of Universal's current buildathon aim) who isn't a big HP fan... I think they look pretty damn good.

At least the faces aren't screens. :cautious:

You got me thinking -- this may be too massive but it was easier to clone the entire building. Fun to consider the possibilities though. ;)

Also, I'd like to add:

It's not a read, per say, but it serves as a fascinating look at what can happen when art and design collide. Maybe I'm biased, because I'm an art junkie and I love (LOVE LOVE LOVE) this book, but the attention to detail is the 'Disney difference' that seems to lack so much as of lately.

I'm a big fan of poster art and collect specially created limited edition concert posters (signed and numbered by the artist). I want to check out this book. Thank you for posting!

I guess it isn't all screens over at Universal.

These goblin AAs look great! Looks like the Gringotts queue is going to be pretty impressive; this little snippet gives me a good feeling that the ride will be splendid, too.

@SJN1279: On the contrary, I would love it if Disney came out with new AAs like these. The 7DMT animatronics are very good, but I will always prefer AAs with fully actuated facial features over projected faces. Using physical effects to animate characters in a ride makes the themed experience more tangible and, pardon the cliche, immersive.

EDIT: added a word

Disney already has come out with animatronics like these. Pirates, Spaceship Earth, Carousel of Progress, American Adventure, etc.......
