I don't get why everyone seems so bitter today. WDW laid out their plans for the next 3 years in addition to finishing the launch of NFL and NGE. Love it or hate it, WDW is moving at the speed they want to move.

There is no need to create a fight and fanboi sides when obviously TWDC doesn't seem to be playing that game at all. (Someone mentioned that WDW will now enter a 3year phase with no new attractions...what about DLR, nothing is announced there and it has already been nearly two years since Carsland opened)This isn't Apple vs. Samsung,

The merits are a good enough discussion without perpetuating Disney vs Universal fan fights.

Yeah let's ban anyone who doesn't dress up like Harry potter for Halloween. Good post.
I was more referring to your "classy" way of coping with differing opinions rather than all our varied tastes in theme parks. While it may come as a shock to you, it is possible to express an opposing opinion effectively (provided you bring a good amount of respect and logic as backup) without resorting to schoolyard bullying tactics as you attempted above.

I'm no fan of overusing screens (and even WDW1974 as well as a number of other people have mentioned in this topic that it's a fair complaint against Universal), but didn't you mention some praise to Toy Story Mania yourself in another topic?-

A lot of us prefer to simply compare Disney with its own legacy (that's generally what i've done as i'm a lifelong Disney World lover first and foremost), you don't even need to bring up Universal to do that.

Is River of Light supposed to be similar to World of Color, or something different and better (hopefully not worse)? The concept art looks really nice and it will be nice to see something done to the Tree of Life. Provided they make it something that fits with the park and don't shoehorn in Disney IP that isn't appropriate for the park.

I'm actually really happy to see Animal Kingdom will be given some night-time attention. I'm generally a big fan of Disney parks and attractions after dark and think Animal Kingdom could look amazing at night as it already does in the daylight (hear it does already to some extent but i've never been there past sunset).

Nostalgia is a powerful drug.....and often inaccurate.

Maybe so, and I certainly don't have any proof considering I wasn't born when they built most of the early rides, but it does appear that Disney did things on a grander scale back in the day. Maybe Splash Mountain's designs were changed and altered, and we could have possibly had an even larger version of it on paper. But, when Splash Mountain is cleaned up and fully functional, you can't rival it as far as themeing and the pure imagination it took to create it. For a log flume ride, it's one of the tops and representative of the way Disney used to do things.

I love Everest though, well, except for Disco Yeti. :hilarious:

Your opinion.
Another opinion would be that Uni achieved (surpassed?) that level of detail and storytelling nearly 25 years ago with E.T.

Just being honest...
And this is a very good point, regarding the story as a whole, the ride itself, and the immersion it presents. You are not a "random" person riding through a mine, rather you are now "part" of the story.

E.T. is an excellent ride.

Why does everything have to turn into Potter bashing?
Does being a Disney park fan (which I have been for 40 years) somehow require blind loyalty and a refusal to acknowledge quality work elsewhere? I don't think so. Perhaps it comes with maturity. The ability to be both a Disney and Uni fan (nearly) equally.
Just for the record I really don't care for KoolAid. Maybe some grape during the summer. But usually I steer clear.

Here's my stance on 7DMT. I'm excited for it. I think it brings a lot to an area of the park that needed a more balanced draw since they shut down attractions years ago there and have mostly not used it.

On the whole, I like the FLE as well.

That being said, to hail 7DMT as some ground breaking attraction? Well, from what I've seen, it's not. It's arun of the mill slow coaster with some animetronics.

But, THAT can be PERFECT!

What will really seal it for me, is, do they focus more on show or story.

At Little Mermaid (WDW and Disneyland), they focus far more on show than story. It stinks. Both rides stink.

Splash, even though the general public is not familiar with the IP, still does great? Why? The ride focuses more on story than show.

I hope 7DMT does a better job of that, and I hope it's a great ride.

That being said, to call it epic? No. It's not epic, at least from what has been released and leaked.

But, it all does look very good.

Sounds to me more like a mini Fantasmic! IMO. Blend of water, screens, actors, and projection... but the projection/water elements should be generations better than F! given the WoC work and it's derivatives since.

Agreed, I said the same thing about the $35 EPCOT after-hours event (btw, that $35 doesn't even guarantee you a seat, but that's for another thread). But the increase in parking, and the EPCOT events, and that $500-a-head SWW thing, and a cover charge at ADH ... there's a noticeable pattern developing.
It's a noticeable trend, but it isn't really taking away from a general admission guests experience. These things they are charging extra for are all to enhance your in-park experience. If you don't want it, you don't need to do it. And i'm actually surprised they went as long as they did without charging for admission to ADH. Your typical night may not be the busiest, but it can get fairly crowded in there if there's a convention going on.

Force = Mass x Acceleration ;)

The more weight you have in your car, the more force trying to push the car to swing, and presumably will result in more swinging action. Ancedeotal comments from riders so far support that as well. Want to minimize? ride with a small child :)

The swinging on the cars seems to be dampened to me. I would hypothesize that there is a counterspring on each side of the hinge that limits how far the pendulum can tilt sideways. So the differences in swinging may be intentionally limited, probably so that the ride can be more mild.

I wouldn't really call this a one of a kind ride system, as swinging coasters have been around since forever: suspended roller coasters are famous for it, and even the nearly forgotten steeplechase rides were a single-bottom rail coaster that had a swing like tilting effect.

Shows are not attractions? Do you need to have a bunch of screens set to a god awful summer blockbuster to be considered an "attraction"?
Not really, no.

Nice cheap jab at another company's wildly successful E ticket attraction in a desperate attempt to illicit a response though. You obviously wrongly assume I love Uni and hate Disney. Maybe try to compare Disney - and WDW in particular - to the standards they set themselves years ago. Trying to wrongly and blindly compare to another product just stinks of desperation on a posters part.

If you have issues, PM me. Otherwise grow up.

There again, don't bother. Reading your other posts I see you're like this with lots of people.

You're new here. I think. Why are you so confrontational and aggressive?
