Spirited Special II: DHS Guardians Tower Not Dead; DL to Trade Nostalgia For Star Wars Pyro

One thing that really caught me (and I guess scared me) while reading spirit's post was that, the argument to keep ToT seemed to have absolutely nothing to do with its legacy, how it fits into the park and area thematically, etc., but it was all purely numbers based. How these people don't see why it just can't be replaced even if the park had ten times its current capacity in attractions is beyond me.
The impression I got was that Chapek is only interested in numbers, so that's why George is fighting him on that front. The sheer length of this fight tells me that at least on some level George knows that the Tower is not something to mess with for more than just the capacity it brings to the park.

The Bobs are doing a fine job saving me money. I have already greatly reduced my visits, but if they touch ToT I won't be spending another dime at WDW. That goes for my wife and our future 2.5 children as well. I already can't justify paying admission to DHS (haven't been there since 2011), I certainly won't be spending my hard earned dollars on a company that makes such bone headed decisions. A multi Billion Dollar Media giant that can certainly afford to build a purpose built building in a new location, instead they will lazily destroy one of the most complete experiences WDI has ever built.

First, and I mean this with no irony - it's sad that 75%* of the people on a random Internet message board, with no experience running a multi-billion dollar company, are more qualified to lead a multi-billion dollar company than the person and next in command currently running that company.

*Not statistically proven

Second, where are all the suits that love Disney? The execs that love the parks? Where's Lasseter? I can't believe that there isn't anyone saying "enough is enough"!

I agree 100%. The people of WDWMagic (well, as you said 75% of them) have the brains to run Disney more than Bob Iger. Hopefully our next CEO is so much better and actually cares about the parks.

Purged years ago. And if not, actually wanting to be within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is a dead end career. The only head of the unit in the past 20 years with prior industry experience is Jay Rasulo.

I can't believe there isn't someone somewhere that was a Disney fan who dreamed about working for the company and is now in some sort of position of some sort of power ... Or maybe someone who can at least get close enough to Bobby to give him a firm smack on the back of the head coupled with a wry "you're blowing it" past the thick cloud of ineptness that seems to circulate around him.

I believe members said Lasseter used up all of his pull in the company to get Cars Land built at DCA. And he wanted a new attraction built for each new Pixar movie but Iger shot him down.

I can't help to wonder about what SoCal locals are going to say about Star Wars as the fireworks show. Something says a lot of unhappy guests that have such a long-term, multigenerational tie to DL.

And the GoTG mess, geez, where to even begin?

I've dealt with big shots like this and seen others in business and it never ends well. When you don't listen to your audience, craft a business plan with exectutives of the same ilk because all others have been purged, there seems to always be a moment in time that something eventually gives.

Most disappointing of all, it's hard to see that post-Iger will bring us new blood that will make wholesale changes.

It's beyond absurd and simply insulting to the consumer that they charge $105 for a one day ticket to the Studios. It honestly doesn't have enough to just half the price right now.

I must stop reading the news of Disney parks. It is mind boggling the decisions that the Walt Disney world mangement makes. To the point of neglecting such a beautiful park like Epcot for so long. I get it, why they use IP's in the world showcase and future world, but guardians of the galaxy literary makes NO sense. It has no education value, and it will have the same issue that Ellen once had, it will be outdated, the actors will become old, though it wont be as obvious as it is now. I don't see why they can't just put some decent educational attractions and displays in Epcot any more, especially now more then ever with Climate change, sea level rise, efforts in space travel, solving the hunger crisis, developments in trying to cure diseases like cancer or Alzheimer's. I just can't support Epcot anymore if they follow through with this.
Ellen wouldn't be as outdated if they kept the ride up to date. Ellen herself isn't old and outdated, Bill Nye is kinda outdated. While I don't agree with GOTG coming to Epcot if it will save ToT I guess it's worth the sacrifice.

You know what though, I don't think I even care snymore. I'm pretty much done. I already decided not to renew anyway but I'm sick and tired of seeing laziness and I'm not going to reward it with my money. I have money saved, I'll take a trip to Europe instead of go visit NYC for a while. I can honestly say I think I'm done and not even a Star Wars land can fix that.

Bill Nye is still known. The television show hasn't been in active production for some time but the guy is still out there and recognizable.
