No see, when I said all those things, the general consensus was "Avatar has been cancelled or greatly reduced." EVERYONE was saying that, including the revered "insiders." They were incorrect.
All of that, excluding the "cancelled" part (which wasn't far off...) was accurate at the time.

Attractions were pitched and shot down multiple times. 3 rides...then 1...then 2...
The project has been in a state of flux (and turbulence) from the beginning.

And correct me if I am wrong but they still don't have a firm grasp on what they are doing yet, right?

I'm not saying y'all were wrong, I'm saying information was outdated. I'm not questioning your credibility, I'm defending my own by saying what I've presented was more than simply a summation of the conventional wisdom that existed at the time. The information was good but needed a refresh.

It's pretty clear at this point.
Designs are underway, and outside vendors have been contracted to contribute some elements.

What exactly is pretty clear at this point? Is it "clear" that "TDO still doen't have a firm grasp on what they are doing yet"? Or is it "clear" regarding what stuff is plans (I think two ride [E-ticket, C-Ticket], restraurant/merchandise, nighttime show, other park enhancements is the current rumor)?

Have I missed that? Is it in the Avatar thread or this one? Like exactly what the clarity is? Attractions? How many? Types? Etc?

Sorry to bombard you, @Lee ... but now I'm curious.

That two attractions are on the table? Been known forever
That nighttime entertainment/show is on the table? Again.. how long has that one been cycling through?
That shop+restaurant is on the table? Again...
That we learned of avatar 'early' in the process? Well uh.. yeah.. the same week of the announcement it was known that this was done outside the halls of WDI
That design is happening? You mean like how every project progresses?
That contracting has been out for elements? I would hope so given they've already started moving things (FoTLK) to make way for stuff.. yeah there needs to be some brains involved.

Maybe you're impressed by a pretty bundling.. but not me.

As @Tim_4 said, the general consensus on this board was that it was gutted, if not outright cancelled.

But if we apply those same standards of "pretty bundling" to everyone, then we cant be impressed with those who tell us that there are things that may be happening at UNI (JP, CITH, etc) but we don't know what, right?

The consensus of who? Sometimes there appear to be trends that are talked about by normal posters, while the true insiders already have put out new information. It's the nature of a discussion board that it is sometimes difficult to keep on track with all the information out there, but I am also often surprised how while everyone flocks to @WDW1974 threads, a lot of the information he actually puts out there seems not to register with people.

@WDW1974 himself wrote on April 17th:

No, I expect the Avatar project (when last checked, just one E-Ticket attraction, one shop, one set of restrooms) to break ground late this year and take a good 3-4 years to open. ...

Does not sound to me like a project that was gutted. So it seems that now the second attraction has come back (we already saw a second attraction in those leaked blue prints) and a restaurant have been added. Also the long standing rumour of adding some nighttime entertainment to AK has resurfaced. From what I understand nighttime entertainment was already worked on in the past, then cancelled, so just like the infamous Monsters coaster, I am not daring to hope too much that it will truly come this time, but I will be very happy if it does!

Is it dead yet?

That.

But as a caveat...
Everything but the Avatar stuff is expendable if the budget requires it.

I'm back from my 0.43% month long vacation to the mountains of Afghanistan and am getting completely caught up. Does the DAK makeover budget also include a few $$$ to finally fix the yeti? I get that fixing it would be expendable but it would be a nice acknowledgement of the problem. Thanks!

apparently some people have a hard time differentiating when people questioning if it will ultimately happen or as originally envisioned to meaning 'its dead'. This 'avatar is dead or not' angle has been beat to death on this forum a dozen or more times because of lack of reading comprehension. Just let it go.

Understood, and I agree, its very fluid. Go back further than last month. Not much further, but more than 4 weeks...

But the point is that the info about the newest status - not being cancelled - was out there.

And just as @articos had pointed out in the other thread, the project did go through to a number of phases. So, most likely if you go back to March or February the information put out then was correct at that time. And that holds true for everything those insiders post: projects are fluid, even things that were announced have not come through or have been changed.

Fixing the beast requires two main things:
1) Money.
2) Desire to fix it.

As of right now, I see little evidence of either.
