I think it matters if it is a frontline CM, or if Bob Iger says a new land is coming to WDW.

Why would leaking a D23 announcement a couple months before D23 be considered stirring things up? If the announcement was legitimate, nobody would care once it was officially announced, the "leak" just builds excitement. Sounds like the CM was stirring things up with a false rumor.

They aren't even firm plans, more like borderline Mad Hatter crazy ideas for possibly 3 new lands at DHS, and the plans changed on a weekly basis!

He never described the level of the CM. Youre assuming front line.

You assume a lot.

The level of activity compared to years past has dropped. The level of thoughtful activity has dropped even more. MiceChat has become the very sort of Disney site it once tried to contrast.

I agree it has changed a little. If someone brings up Monsters at DCA again, I just might explode. That, original ideas, Hollywood Land and Tomorrowland. Like a cycle.

Yea, I know and I'm not really against it. It's just that last January was the very first time I saw the Disaster. The last time I was there it was Earthquake. I hadn't been back to Uni in quite a while. I will probably will only have gotten to see it once.:(

What really confused me when I was there was that I was sure that the building where Disaster is housed was the original show building for King Kong. Then I got to the end and there was the subway station. I figured they wouldn't have moved the whole thing just for fun. I must have just been remembering incorrectly.
No, definitely not moved. Kong was originally in the stage that now houses Mummy. The building is the exact same, they just took everything out to the bare floor, then installed the coaster and show scenes. Quake is more or less the exact same since opening, with tweaks to the preshows prior to boarding the train.

I can think of quite a few, The ones you are referring to are Sue Bryan who was Show Producer For Mission:Space and Melissa Jeselnick who was project manager on the new Test Track (I am not sure if Project Manager is higher on the ladder than Show Producer or not) Other well known women Imagineers are Show Producers Kathy Rogers (Deppification of Pirates, Haunted Mansion 2007 Re-Haunting and Hall of Presidents with Obama) Lisa Girolami who was Show Producer for all of the new DCA with the exception of Cars Land and of course Kathy Mangum who was Producer of Cars Land and is now Creative Leader of the WDW portfolio for better or worse, hopefully for better.
Show Producer is above Project Manager. On smaller projects, it can be one and the same. Generally, Show Producer is near or is the top of the chain for the project level, without getting into the executive ranks. When it comes to executives, most of the top tiers have multi-tiered titles, including producer/show producer or portfolio producer/manager/executive/vp/sr vp/exec vp. Below producer is the project manager, then the project coordinators.

Kathy M also nemofied the seas and did a decent job with a crappy budget.
And a crappy idea.

It's projection onto a translucent mylar screen. Been done for a number of years now to get 'floating' projections. The HD images now make the images very sharp. The depth feel comes from the very sharp images and the fact the screen is in front of real sets. Normally it's done in an open space that is kept dark to minimize the risk of seeing the screen and improve the contrast of the image. The layering of front/back stuff done in Disaster helps add to the realism.. and of course the gags where they overlay the video over pieces you perceive to be the real sets.
Took quite a bit of experimentation to get that illusion as good as it turned out. Everyone was pretty happy with the level of immersion in the gag once it was completed. When the light levels are right on, it's great, and it's actually a pretty cheap effect.

This and the brilliant casting of Christopher Walken and The Rock make me kinda sad that Disaster is being replaced, however from a marketing standpoint, Disaster isn't really an attraction they can advertise very well. In fact I don't know if I've ever really seen it advertised.

Bringing King Kong back? Definitely easy to promote that, just like Hollywood did. People seemed quite upset after the fire in the backlot there that took out the original Kong.

Micechat is killing their community with their shift to a product.. putting all the content into front page blogs and their over moderation to try to force people into a utopia.

I don't know who in the world thought it was a good idea to try to mimick Al's writing style when Al isn't writing the columns anymore. Copying someone's personality/style is never a good way to kick things off.

I like Dusty.. but I think they've ultimately have nuked their sense of community.
And some of the columnists they've aligned themselves with...hooboy

What do you know about Cirque du Soleil and a project in AK? Do they have something to do with the new Festival of the Lion King show or is it something else.

With the potential changes at DHS, is Avatar still a go? Has any infrastructure been done at AK at this point? I am just wondering what the current status is.
