Just arrived in the world today for a couple of weeks.

I couldn't help but notice the work being done under the EPCOT monorail line leading up to and past the MK main gait. (It may continue further down the line toward EPCOT)

Anyway, it looks to be recently buried power lines. Big ones!

Anyone know what's up?

I will try to get a picture the next day I mosey that way.

They don't read, they analyze. With the help of degree level professionals who use their fantastic Microsoft Office skills to determine the best ways to leverage online nerd talk of Yeti jokes and Spaceballs references. ;)
Hey now, they also have to know Keynote. That's two presentation applications.

Food for thought...

The skate park at Festival Bay Mall without reason announced they are closing shop. This has some local business owners scratching their head because the skate park has been highly successful. Why would a highly successful business just shut its doors without giving an explanation?

I mentioned on another thread that several years ago (pre-Iger), plans were almost set in motion that would have expanded the current ESPN sports complex into an action and sports themed park.

A skate park would be a natural expansion for ESPN. I'm not saying the plans are back on to make a full fledged Fifth Gate out of ESPN. It would make sense to incrementally add stuff for a very slow evolution into a Fifth Gate theme park.

Very strange why that skate park would close without explanation and a skate park at ESPN would make perfect sense as the next step in a slow evolution expansion of the complex...

Think about it. This wouldn't be the first time Disney would allow a third party business on its premises...

Actually Vans wanted to get out of the Skatepark business thats why the Orlando and 3 others closed shop. They only have the one flagship skatepark remaining open in CA. Funny thing about it is there is another skatepark taking over the same venue at Festival Bay or whatever the new name is now.

You are correct that back in 2001 Disney wanted to partner with Woodward and the X games franchise with a complex at DWWS. I'm guessing the plans fell through because of some liability issues or the demographic that skaters have.

But, of course, Disney doesn't read these boards...

Please don't ask for more information as I don't want to reveal my sources. But I've obtained an actual photo of a Disney Social Media Listening Analyst at work:

Because Festival Bay is dead.

It no longer has tenants. There's no draw. There's no earthly reason they should renew their leases there.

Would a skate park at the ESPN complex be a great idea? Of course.

Hey Mouse, I'm an analyst currently tasked with sifting through financial data that contains various data quality issues for a company much more powerful than you... Fixing your NGE will be challenging but not impossible. Hire the right people ;)

I can't imagine the problems they face with NGE being any more substantial then what my company deals with or has more importance. If they fail NGE, heads should roll because it just flat out shouldn't happen.

From Jason Garcia's article today:

Analysts who follow Comcast are upbeat about its parks. Jessica Reif Cohen, of Merrill Lynch, called the segment's third-quarter results "very impressive" during the conference call.
"It seems pretty clear that new attractions drive attendance," she said.

What's of interest here is that Ms. Reif Cohen isn't just another analysis as she's one that for many years is cited as a source of interpretation of Disney's quarterly financials. It's a not so subtle quote to the people at the Mouse and I'd bet has caught the attention of people up the food chain.

Anecdotal news ...

Finally tried the DTD valet last night. Staffed by yellow shirts, I assume from events--the least professional valet staff I've ever encountered in my life. When your opening words are "Hey dude, you can get out of the car," there's an issue. Weren't clear on how to give me a ticket. And did I mention the whole thing is just set up in the old exit lane? Had to walk through cones to avoid being hit.

There was just no sense of a VIP experience like there needs to be for this sort of thing. It pains me to say it, but TDO would have been better to outsource this--the third party hotel valets are superior in every way.

Also, there is no way Splittsville is making money--saw a server leave her station maybe twice in an hour, just no customers. I'd be curious to know how AMC and the rest are doing. And they have another year of this?

Do you think UNI would acquire that property? I have a feeling that they want to build a green belt to separate their expanding resort from the rest of that area over time.

You know those DirecTV commercials where they have the CEO of a big cable company explain to the BOD what he's doing to compete with satellite, saying things like raising prices, etc...

So, what is Disney doing about capacity? Raising prices, closing attractions, scaring customers...
