Wish I had started keeping a score card every time something got torn out that some folks care deply about.

Horizons, Spectromagic, Adventurers Club, PI, Seven Seas Lagoon development, Court of Angels, Character Integrity...

Toad Hall got quite a lot of talk when it went -- it was probably the first instance of the online community getting all hot & bothered about Disney taking something out.

The old "rec.arts.disney.parks" user group got hot and bothered by most anything back in the 1990's.

I also found that the food generally was lower quality than previous years - most notably the QS meals.

Stayed at POP Century. Housekeeping was okay. No praise. No complaints.

And finally, my MagicBand was so uncomfortable. It just didn't fit my wrist properly. No one else had any complaints.

Agreed on all three points.

If you're going to make someone wear a wristband all day, it should at least be comfortable.

QS food selection is pretty bad. The same 4 or 5 options everywhere, and all greasy junk food you get sick of eating all day, every day for days on end. Guess its so you'll book a TS meal.

Buying property piece meal would just cause all property values to skyrocket now... driving up Disney's ongoing and future costs. If Disney were buying every 10th home.. the writing would be on the wall and speculation would run rampant.

There's this massive chunk of land in the middle of florida that proves that avoiding a significant amount of land speculation on a large scale land acquisition is entirely possible. I encourage you to do some reading into this ("Project Future" by Chad Emerson -- great book). Land purchase options, proxy agreements and a some clandestine spy games allowed them to purchase a large portion of WDWs land in florida before anyone had a clue Disney was behind it. The actual purchases were triggered largely at the same time...but the options for the purchases were secured at a very slow, deliberate process that took several years.

I think if Disney wanted the land, they could get it. Could they pull off what they did in florida? I don't think so... But I believe that there are a few things that Disney could do to secure some extra land in Anaheim without prices going screwy. Keep in mind, DLR doesn't need 40 square miles. Epcot itself is, what, 150 acres? It's doable...

Anaheim would use eminent domain if TWDC asked, Disney's about the only taxpaying entity in town.

Uh... I'm well aware of what happened in Florida. But your comparing buying undeveloped land in the 60s to buying developed urban properties in the age of online access to electronic records. Adding to that... In a vision of just buying whatever becomes available vs an agressive strategy

Oddly enough, Universal has just gone in and rethemed the San Francisco, Mel's Diner, NYC restrooms and did a very nice job of it.
It has been well over a decade since my last universal visit. As I have said many times when I'm down for work for spring training, I am spending my day off there. I'm not paying 140 for a park hopper to spend half my time waiting for transportation when its clear Disney doesn't want my money.

True, but the main difference between RADP and Magic is that RADP is unmoderated, so verbal fist fights on RADP had no limitations.
But as things change, they do remain the same.
Take the discussion over CC charges for TS restaurants and compare it to the RADP threads concerning multiple hotel ressies for the same time slot, and you'll find they're much alike. Burnt out bulbs? Chipped paint? TDO greedy? Been there, done that, 15 years ago.
I guess Disney folks just like to Bicker.

Eh, I'd be surprised since the cost of 7DMT was already budgeted and in a way is a sunk cost. Delaying the project now would also cost more.

Use a small construction crew and just have them work slowly, Limits the cash burn rate and since TDO does not seem to care when it opens schedules are no problem.

Things are not the same as they were 15 years; they are worse. :(

Take something as simple as a theme park ticket. 15 years ago, a 5-day hopper with water parks was $189; $271 adjusted for inflation. Today it's $373.

15 years ago, WDW opened an entire theme park. 15 years ago, WDW opened Buzz at MK, Test Track at Epcot, and was one year away from opening RnRC at DHS. This in the same year that it opened a whole theme park!

15 years ago, WDW was in the middle of adding a new level of onsite hotel targeted for cost-sensitive guests. 15 years ago, Pleasure Island was open. 15 years ago, there were only 2 DVC resorts that, combined, had about the same number of rooms as the small Port Orleans French Quarter.

People complain; it's human nature. However, increasingly more and more "guests" are reaching their threshold of pain at WDW and it's because today's corporate Disney focuses its energy almost exclusively on higher prices and "value engineering", instead of applying its creative talents to providing a superior theme park experience.

At WDW, things have changed in the last 15 years, and it's been for the worse. :banghead:

In other news 7DMT opening postponed till spring 2015...
That's when Avatar was originally supposed to open. 7DMT was well under way when Avatar was announced. Now, Avatar hasn't even started and you would have thought 7DMT would have been completed a while ago by then. At this rate, we'll be grateful if any new big project opens by 2020. Even with good vision, 2020 is not easy to see.

Really bringing the fight to Disney on all levels. I have the image of Morpheus making the 'come here' gesture to TWDC
Good. I hope they keep turning the heat up. Disney needs a wake up call. Universal and Comcost (typo deliberately not fixed) may be the best thing to happen to Disney since Eisner. On a side note, I will never be a Comcast cable subscriber again, but I will continue to be a Comcast theme park customer.

If Disney doesn't wake up, their financials may wake them up. If they still don't wake up, there will either be a stock holder revolt or a corporate take over.
