From the various places I read about NGE, there are more than a few people saying, or being led to believe the full roll out is happening very soon. Most of it are people testing the system, but others not invited to test are getting the Magic Bands. I know that the invitation sometimes comes after a guest has gotten their bands, and already chosen their FP+, and the invitation follows. That has caused some confusion. I'm confused...LOL.
I can't site any specific website, or post, as it is all over the various forums, and websites, comment sections etc. that I run across. And I don't spend all that much time on Disney sites, at least not to the extent that I am looking for NGE related posts. They just pop up. It almost seems as if NGE is being rolled out without any announcement at all. It's just there all of a sudden, or will be. Perhaps I am totally wrong, and it is the perspective I am getting from what I am reading online, and misunderstanding it all.

I can confirm, Magic Bands, FP+ all made available, set up, bands delivered and FP+ made and modified, all well before the 'official' email invitation to be part of the magical test group. So, yes, was available without any announcement or invite.

It's almost like the invite was an afterthought...maybe they thought things were going good and opened up for participation, but then more 'bugs' were found and a little backtracking to make sure people know it's a 'test'?

As far as my CM friends are aware, they are still in testing through September, at least. I doubt that the "full rollout" is actually going to be a fully finished product rollout, rather they're no longer placing restrictions on resorts and guests involved in their "testing." Oh hey, that's a wonderful thought, isn't it? Completely unrestricted testing across the resort...wonder if they'll tell guests its still testing before/during their check in, or only once they start having issues?

Gmail was in beta for 5 years. It's trendy these days to say you are in beta, when in reality it just means you're not done yet.

The glitches do not always get taken out. Remember the '57 Edsel or New Coke?

When is the last time you saw a new Edsel...that glitch was taken out completely. Personally, I don't think they ever took out New Coke...I think they just said they did and the public was too stubborn to admit that they really couldn't tell the difference. I hate Coke so, they could easily play that slide of hand on me, and I would have bought it as true. :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:

Unless, like Spirit, they are "stealing" soda (by using "lifetime" mugs) as a statement, not because they are thirsty.
Good to know that there can be that distinction. Now I know that we can rob banks as a statement of protest because we have been overcharged interest for years. Very good to know that then it's not stealing, it's merely protesting. Cool.:inlove:

Side note: the cast that is there assisting you is being called a "HyperCare assistant".....

Big marketing spread in Eyes & ears.

wonder if they are using Atos for IT outsourcing. I PM'd a project for Atos, supporting Siemens, and for their largest sites, that was the approach they termed things--hypercare--where we had a slew of engineers and support staff from both teams on site for the duration of the work. The Siemens network upgrade at SSE did not qualify :)

Long time lurker. Trying to keep up with the main theme of this thread. Thought this might be of interest. From msnbc:

"Facebook is considering incorporating most of its 1 billion-plus members' profile photos into its growing facial recognition database, expanding the scope of the social network's controversial technology."

Thoughts? I sure don't like the fact that my/my kids' faces will be in a database..... - accessible to who....?

If you are concerned about privacy you shouldn't be on Facebook. (Note intentional lack of sarcasm icon)

FWIW, MM+ roll out begins 9/3, completed at all resorts by 10/31.
I think we just got a new nickname for MM+.

Very true. We can blame Asa Candler's hubris over a century ago for the use of high fructose corn syrup. There is another semi-related lesson there, that just because you don't see value in a product/idea does not mean others will not.

Don't think so, Cane sugar is used in Coke almost anywhere but the US, Thank 'Big Sugar' and its subsidiary 'Big Government' for US Sugar prices being 20x the world price for sugar. With generous 'price supports' paid for by your tax dollar providing more 'Corporate Welfare' in exchange for campaign cash, The other form of welfare provides goods and services to the FSA 'Free Stuff Army' in exchange for votes.

The second form at least has some moral defensibility in that there are people truly in need, the first is Corruption with a capital C

Just hung up with DVC Member Services... I was told MM+ for Bay Lake Tower will be rolled out September 30th and Saratoga Springs October 21... The agent told me at that point I would then be able to book my FP+ and customize Magic Bands... but not before as neither resort is on the test schedule.. When I asked him if this would be a test or official roll out, he said roll out... I guess we shall see...

Definitely,

Thing to do is - register for a FB account with your credentials and then DEACTIVATE it, Yes it makes you 'known' to FB but deactivating prevents anyone from spoofing your identity on FB, and make sure you use a fake birth date so an app cant troll deactivated accounts

I remember the job posting from last year:

Hyper-Care Support Assistant - providing guidance system implementation, identifying and documenting system issues and trends and communicating with the Experience Service Command Centers to deliver comprehensive data reporting.

They worked the glitches out with New Coke...they came out with Coca Cola Classic. Maybe FP classic is in our future:)
If that's the case then I foresee FP+ fading into obscurity until 10 or 20 years later when they will finally put the stupid thing out of it's misery. I am hoping this will be the case but there is a part of me that thinks that people are less critical as consumers now then they were then and will purchase anything, even total crap based only on a brand. Also, the sentiment these days seems to be let big business do what it wants and try not to get involved regardless of the stakes thus you have a situation that deteriorates like what happened in 2008 and then they come crying for bailout money and the government hands it to them without question then they proceed to cry foul any time Regulators check to make sure OUR money is being invested wisely and complain about "Government Socialists" and act like they never wanted their bailout money to begin with. It's a dangerous cycle when we let our institutions operate without any risk or fear of punishment. There are several people who should be in prison right now who are instead living luxuriously and that makes me angry.
