Hmm, I suspected as much. I'll take your word for that!

I really wonder what Disney wa thinking when deciding how much capacity to build. Did they think it would just be one person per party checking their app?

Wi-Fi is not required, but it has the advantage of typically being less battery intensive (but that means you need to have a good connection). Wi-Fi is also a means of using the system without paying through the nose for data (doubly true for international guests). A properly implemented system should be clear choice over using cellular.
I also wonder if Disney factored in that LOTS of kids these days have iPod Touch's, which will also put a strain on the wifi networks.

We should let the Carnival debate die down now that there is some real MM+ news coming out.

Sounds like the test results have been....less than stellar.

Agreed, but only because I have no intention of another sparring match with MAGIC's smartest poster on each and every subject who doesn't have any horse in the datamining race.

Yes, the results have basically sucked more...(OK, we all know where I was going with that, so just imagine I typed it!)

I have no idea how they will ever implement this across the board when so many basics haven't been covered. And who knows how much they'll wind up spending to do so?

So, I guess that explains why all my Disney thinking this weekend has been on getting back to HK and Tokyo.

Also, if someone uses my personal information due to it being visible to them on the My Disney Experience website, will I be able to hold Disney accountable, or should I just "cry a bloody river" because Disney did the best that they could and sometimes things just happen?

OK. This one I just flat out LOVE. ... and of course you shouldn't hold Disney liable. Technology isn't perfect and these things happen and why must someone pay every time an individual gets screwed by an American corporation? It happens. As the only openly gay dude in my high school (yeah, I'm ancient) once wore on his button proudly 'Just bend over and take it like a man!'

Individuals have responsibilities, rules and laws.

Corporations have quarterly earnings, Wall Street and analysts.

Software and deployment problems are to be expected for something of this magnitude. If executives at Disney thought this was going to go smoothly, they were only fooling themselves, which is possible since this is not the usual type of R&D project Disney typically deals with.

Regardless of anyone’s opinion on MM+, it is incredibly complex. Disney is integrating all transactions into a single system. It's an enormous project. It's going to have problems. Things are not going to work the way they want and they are going to have to come up with alternate plans.

Given the scope of what they are trying to accomplish, it will be impressive if MM+ is only a few months behind schedule. If MM+ ends up only being six months behind, IMHO they would have done a pretty good R&D job.

I think the entire program is vastly behind schedule and will never roll out completely as intended. The things I hear about going wrong and not being accounted for are things that should have been discussed in planning meetings 3-4 years ago.

The scariest part is they are exposing real "guest" data to potential identity theft. That is bad.

I have been busy this weekend and haven't had a chance to go back to the DIS boards but I do wonder if others have had the same issue and are reporting it. I'm pretty sure that when there's one person, there's others, possibly many ... but far fewer folks post on sites like that one or this one. ... so you just have to sorta use your brain and extrapolate.

So I've been taking a little break lately from active posting, because the braggadocio exhibited by certain posters -- well, by one certain poster -- has gotten a bit out of hand. Not that I should be surprised; after all, this individual has always seemed to possess a surplus of... vanity.

I don't want to name names, so I'll just take some inspiration from an early '70s hit -- and wager that the subject of the following editorial knows exactly who it is I'm talking about!

I'm sitting in the SF airport heading back from Yosemite after having a grand total of about 8 hours of sleep in the last 3 nights, so I don't the acuity to give a thoughtful response (nor have I read any posts in this convo besides yours) but I will say contract terms such as the ones you're mentioning are not always enforceable (the US is trending towards enforcing them in more circumstances, though).

Search for "contract of adhesion" and/or "unconscionable contract terms." Perhaps also "unenforceable boilerplate contract terms."

You might need to add additional terms specific to this convo to narrow results.

Yosemite?!?!?

Tom, how will you ever become Disney Lifestyler royalty when you go to places that aren't Disney related?!?!?

Hope your trip was amazing, though. As I've said, Yosemite may just be my favorite place on Earth. WDW is a sleazy, smelly roadside carnival run by strange and bizarre people by comparison!

I love this site to death (thanks Steve) but is there any chance Merf could ever be unbanned? I miss having him here. Or am I opening a can or worms?

I'm sure it is, but I miss the guy and I never engaged him here at all as he was pretty much gone when I joined. I did watch him meltdown in ugly fashion on LP.com and have no idea what went on on the DIS, but just lasting there a day sounds like an accomplishment (I set up an account there years ago and never used it because many of those folks are the ones I tend to associate with mental illness and Disney addiction) ... All of that said, I respect Merfie's knowledge, especially on EPCOT, and wish he could control his temper. This community would be better with him here ... but not out of control and fighting with people etc.

That said, it isn't my site and I don't know what exactly went down here.

I'm pretty sure Disney helped Yosemite build The Ahwahnee (after all, it looks similar to Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Californian), so I think I'm still good on the lifestyler front.

Yosemite was absolutely amazing--it's my new favorite National Park. The Firefall was incredible to see and the hike to Union Point was fun (albeit grueling with waist-deep snow at points). I know you're not one to get up early, but if you love Yosemite, you really ought to get up early sometime and sit on the Merced at the Gates of the Valley and watch the stars fade away, followed by dawn and the sunrise.

@WDW1974 @Lee

So now that we are a little more into all "this" ... I go back to my original question with a slight modification ... how successful or unsuccessful does this need to be to get money pumped back into the parks (attractions wise)? I assume if it is unsuccessful enough they may need something to divert attention ... I guess either way ... my question is now with testing underway is there any correlation of MM+ to park additions?
