I do feel sorrow for this lady, but you are correct. People tend to lose sight concerning the 55000 other employees hanging around. There is probably an avenue for appeal already in place and listed in the employee (CM) handbook. I'd check there and see if there is one, I'm sure with unions in place, it is there. Follow those procedures and you have a chance. Harass the bosses, it will be a lot more difficult. Unfair, but the way of the world of business and when all is said and done, Disney is a business.

It could be an error and if what has been reported is true, then that is exactly what it is. Approach it with that possibility in mind and things might work out. Run in with fists flying and the likelihood gets a lot smaller. I'm pretty sure that Florida is an "at will" state so they don't even need a reason to terminate. Someone correct me if that is not the case in Florida.
You are correct,FL is an "at will" state , that being said many national companies in which their headquarters are at a union state the company sometimes uses the same policies/procedures and agreement that they made with the union in another state, but I am not sure if Disney operates that way.

I smelled a rat (for lack of a better term) with the 150 hours requirement when it was implemented.
What is the requirement? A quarter has 480 hours, so is the requirement that you must work at least 150 in each quarter? I don't understand. Thank you.

My understanding is that for CT's, the 150 hours covers all four quarters. Reviews are done in January, April, July and October to make sure the minimum hours are worked to maintain CT status. 40 per quarter would meet the requirement. If you fall below 40 hours for a particular quarter you could lose your status and/or your job.

The last like, five to ten pages of this thread are what's finally enough to cancel my annual pass. Screw this entire company and anybody who has anything to do with it. I love Epcot, MK, and even DHS, but I can't continue to support a company that does this to their employees.

Love the chalk outline of Mickey, glad to know we're not the only people in the world who realize Disney is Dead.

So the Adam Orth incident last night wish we had a community that could shout so loud it brings execs in for meetings about if they are doing the right thing with the direction of a brand they need to succeed to stop their passion for stopping another .... imagine if you will this was Disney and areas that have been talked to death...

HOW AMAZING WOULD THAT BE GUYS!!!!
Of course, Microsoft knows that the next Xbox needs to succeed or they'll be screwed. P&R on the other hand...

PS: I'll likely buy a PS4 even if the Next Xbox isn't always on.

Does anybody want to raise another SaveDisney campaign in time for next year's stockholder meeting?
The stock value is too high. That was a key pillar of the Save Disney campaign. If John and the Brain Trust resigned in protest after JC past year, maybe but only because that would've freaked out Wall St..
The only way to get the Three Stooges and their cohorts out would be to embarrass them really, really badly. Scandal is a sure fire way to get folks out and there are a couple things that could do the trick.

The gravitas of Roy Disney helped significantly. Being a "Disney" and looking like his uncle really did carry weight. The Save Disney campaign never would have succeeded if it wasn't fronted by a Disney.

When he spoke at the Save Disney meeting, the way the room reacted you would have thought it was Walt Disney himself speaking. It seemed as if all in the room felt vindicated when a "Disney" (especially one that physically resembled Walt) expressed the same feeling everyone was sharing.

In discussing the theme parks, Roy mentioned: "Improving the cleanliness, the maintenance, and the guest services in the parks, and that would include putting the smile back on the faces of both cast members and guests."

Sadly, it's been nine years and WDW is in worse shape than ever.

I am not sure if it would do any good, but I would try nontheless. Unfortunately, caring so much about the situation is taking it's toll on my mental health. I am really furious with the company right now, At the same time Disney and Star Wars are so embedded into my life that I can't stop caring about them, Giving up on them would be akin to throwing ones family album in the trash.

My issue is not with layoffs as part of a reorg since they just made a huge acquisition. That is sorta necessary to make it work, however there is no need to lay off people like @Arewethereyet!'s mother. Most of the layoffs should be duplicate positions and upper management that isn't required. Sad thing is that this never happens. Upper management is like a country club.

That is why I have always asserted that Save Disney did not succeed. I believe it made matters worse.
We don't know how bad it would be like if Eisner had stayed. The fact that Eisner moves were of greed and power by removing Roy from the board based on age.

The fact Save Disney didn't get what it wanted by settling on Iger of the less of two evils. Maybe Disney would had been better off being bought by Comcast.

I don't think SaveDisney was able to finish what it started but that doesn't make it a failure. Eisner needed to go

I rather the current position then to have another company acquire Disney. Things will eventually change, it will just take time. I hope I am there when it happens.

:lol that was a tongue in cheek comment. But Comcast is doing a heck of a job. I also think Roy had something to do with that "offer'' by Comcast. It was such a low ball offer, I doubt it was real but a dig toward Eisner.

I see why you'd think that but I doubt he would want Uncle Walt's company to be gobbled up. Lol

Here's to better days!

That's a big part of the problem. The company needs to take Uncle Walt off his pedestal and move in a better direction. There are a lot of old remnants that continue to cost the company a fortune and impede progress. The item at the top of the list is the monorail. Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time to tear down the monorail and move into the future while tomorrow is still a dream.
