I really don't understand why they worry more about what a bunch of accountants think than the loyal fans who have significant investment both financial and emotional into the company.
Then again I don't understand most things about our society these days

Wall Street is not accountants. As a proud accountant, I don't care to lumped in with Investment Bankers.

Another social media conspiracy...

Am I the only that noticed that for the Limited Time Magic promo, there is a very rigid timeline:
1.) Announcement made at 11:30 Fri on limitedtimemagic.com
2.) Bloggers write their articles
3.) Profit through clicks since "Disney Parks" hasnt tweeted or posted blog article
4.) Parks Blog tweets and posts article at noon
Well that circle jerk should hopefully end soon.

So the Adam Orth incident last night wish we had a community that could shout so loud it brings execs in for meetings about if they are doing the right thing with the direction of a brand they need to succeed to stop their passion for stopping another .... imagine if you will this was Disney and areas that have been talked to death...

HOW AMAZING WOULD THAT BE GUYS!!!!

Well, this LITERALLY just into the Spirit Cave, but it seems that there well may be a bloodletting at Celebration Place next with Laura Spencer (again, not the lovely Genie Francis of General Hospital and Mrs. Will Riker fame) just the first to go because ... well, some Spirits in Burbank are REALLY not happy that some Spirits on Wall Street are asking if Disney is basically out of its collective mind with its current strategy of getting into bed with anyone who will be a BRAND advocate regardless of what baggage they bring along.

The GH fangirl in me silently shrieked at your shoutout... haha. And it's General Hospital's 50th Anniversary this week!

Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) rocks.

Anyway, more to the point... thanks for the update. This whole social media drama is more scandalous than a week's worth of GH!

This is the Hollywood Reporter story on the upcoming layoffs: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/disney-planning-layoffs-report-433155

I would be remiss if I failed to mention that WDW will be losing folks as well (it won't be spun that way because of all the minimum wage folks they're adding to deal with the giant fetid mess that is MM+). There will be REAL layoffs that TDO will be working so hard to describe as normal attrition etc.

No, I wouldn't put Laura Spencer in that ... or Blondie (if someone decides that honesty and integrity beat a Ph.D in a made up field) either. I keep hearing that Leanne is the next designated fall gal for the social media mess in the swamps, but that it could well be Thomas Smith as well if Disney think that it won't look good to lose two women (one a minority) in the department before a white man goes.

If it is Leanne, then maybe this can be her epitaph with Disney:
''I love social media. I find it fun, intriguing, educational, inspiring and engaging. I love connecting with former colleagues and classmates and childhood cousins who’ve moved far, far away. I love discovering new websites and authors and bloggers who I never would have found before on my own. I love seeing what items my friends really like and they find useful – assuming those are true from the heart recommendations.''

Those are her own words from three years ago ... I wonder if she ever understood the difference from what she concluded with and the reality of all of Disney's BRAND ADVOCATES she cultivated. Doubt it. Disney doesn't employ the brightest bulbs.

It seems like Leanne was having a pleasant day today. There was a traveling moms convention at the Yacht and Beach Club Convention Center that she attended/checked into and hung out with the famous traveling moms. Tom Smith was present as well. Here's some twit pics she posted on here page:

As you know my mother is a Cm.....17 yrs service. She just recieved a letter today saying she was going to be terminated for not being available although she has documentaion proving she went on the hub and putting in her time when she was available and when she wasnt. She put in a call to her supervisor and ofcourse its a recorded voic mail. Waiting for a return call as I type. The thing that she cant understand is that they are asking her to return her silver pass. She is semi retired and only works the winter months. She was of the thought that she was vested and was able to keep her maingate pass for life. She has been in tears since the mailman came.
Three hours now and she hasnt stopped crying. Disney if you are reading this like Spirit says you do.....I hope your proud of yourself. Is this what you do to Cast Members that helped make WDW what it is ( used to be).

Shame on you. She loved her job....she loved Disney and now this. Is this the way you handle your senior CMs. Wouldnt a phone call to her been the "right" thing to do. The letter says she is being terminated. This woman has been a perfect employee for 17 yrs. If she was a problem would she have lasted that long? Again....Disney if you are reading this....DO SOMETHING! If you let this go down like this I will spend the rest of my life your company.

I'm very sorry to hear that, best wishes to your mother. It's always horrible to lose your job but to lose it so abruptly, and for them to not even have the courtesy to do it face-to-face or pick up a phone now, is disgusting.

More layoffs at the mouse...

http://www.cartoonbrew.com/disney/disney-will-layoff-people-in-the-animation-division-80635.html
More workforce cuts are coming to Disney. Following the closure of LucasArts, Reuters news service reported yesterday that Disney will begin a new round of layoffs within the next two weeks. Most of the cuts will come from the marketing and home video units, but layoffs in the animation department are also expected. The staff reductions are the result of an internal audit that happened in late-2012 to identify positions that were redundant or no longer necessary thanks to technological advances.
The Animation Guild doesn’t know where the animation cuts will come from. Their take on the news:
Since there are multiple divisions (Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney Toon Studios, and Disney Television Animation) they could be anywhere…Walt Disney Animation Studios has been hiring of late, putting staffers on Frozen and Big Hero Six as they ramp up into full production.
The image at top was sent in by a Cartoon Brew reader. The chalk outline of Mickey Mouse allegedly appeared this morning at the studio’s Glendale campus.

The thing is is that they say they are not laying her off....that she is being terminated. They are asking for her to return her her silver pass....something she is very proud of and shows anyone who will look. She was told that it was hers to keep....that because she retired from Disney but is in some limited work program for retirees. She feels like they are escorting her to the gate and throwing her out....really? Is this how they intend to cut cost?

One day I'd like to have an impact... I want to not only be successful but be sure my employees don't go through the aforementioned. There are so many people working jobs that they don't even remotely deserve. Yet they don't get laid off, the good ones do. That is a corporate cultural problem that must be fixed across all companies.
