Speculation on the SOA and LMA piece of land at Hollywood Studios

It ain't happening plus the rumors make no sense why would a company with a contract that can never expire want to give up one of the most popular IPs back to its competitor?

It does make sense! There are lots of people who want a Marvel attraction at WDW. If that occurred, those people would spend more money at WDW and less money at Universal. Of course Universal wants to give Marvel back to Disney!

Plus, look at all the posts on these boards saying that WDW will take back the Marvel IP from Universal. That's how you know it is happening!

Why would Universal give Disney a franchise when they know that it will bring more people to their competitor?

Why would Universal/Comcast want to give up a contract for a popular IP to Disney. No one in the know, partial know or anyone of any sane brain function think Marvel* is coming to WDW...

If there is more land. My money is on nothing being done until after Star Wars and Toy Story Land is complete. Disney could then reevaluate, see if another hit movie or franchise will be apon then in the next 5-7 years and then build from there.
1. I could see a Pirates of the Caribbean Land...or a new adventure style land that combines Indiana Jones and Pirates. Two very big franchises.

2. Pixar could be expanded in the parks or Animation from Walt Disney studios. The good Dinosaur, Finding dory, Gigantic, Moana could be huge hits and brought to the parks. A Monsters Inc attraction. You never know what is the next hit or miss. Pixar and Walt Disney Animation have many ideas to put to use.

3. Alice in Wonderland could be brought to the parks if the sequel turns out to be huge.

I believe Disney will be in a wait and see mode. Star Wars will bring people to the parks. There will be enough attractions (if the TS coaster and two SW rides are good) for it to be an interesting park again. Then Disney will build in the park again.
I have a feeling EPCOT will get some attention before Phase 2 of DHS gets some love.
Only an opinion...I could be completely off.

There is no real competition between Universal and Disney guys. Fans have once created this theory, but it was never really there. They have worked together before and they are still doing so now.

Marvel isn't coming to WDW anytime soon, maybe never. Which sucks because it's stuck in limbo. Disney/Marvel would never let Universal use their actors to create an actual themed attractions (i.e. not the Hulk coaster) at USF/IOA (because of competition). Uni won't sell the rights to Disney, because Disney could then implement a fully themed Marvel land, taking away the market share of Uni. So it's gonna be stuck in a kind of no mans land. We'll actually get a Marvel land that lives up to the expectations of fans in DCA soon enough. But it will likely never happen in Orlando.

They could make a superhero land though. Disney has rights to their own movies Guardians of the Galaxy, Big hero 6, Ant Man etc.

But what if it is Marvel? We keep hearing rumors that Universal is in talks to give it to Disney so Disney can really cut into Uni's business. Those rumors make perfect sense and are extremely well-sourced.

Say Marvel is impossible all you want, I guarantee lots of us will still be here saying, "Maybe they're planning something with Marvel."

Those rumors are false and poorly sourced. Universal has major plans to introduce the MCU version of Marvel as part of their new revamp of Marvel's Superhero Island. That was the plan discussed between both parties.

However, Disney can use Guardians of the Galaxy if they chose to and plans exist to do so should the second movie be successful. (Note: that movie is 2017 so don't get worked up lol) @PhotoDave219

In regards to the SoA/LMA section of the park, I'm sure more is being developed, they just don't need to talk about it right now, even though it will open around the time SWL does. I would love to see an Indy section, with an a big E-ticket (maybe similar to the ride at DLR/ or maybe even a water ride?), as well as Montrolpolis, with the door coaster. I don't think that these will necessarily happen, but I'd bet on another E-ticket happening, to draw more people to the back of the park.

Would you move the pirates ride in magic kingdom for a newer version like Shanghais version or would you create new themed rides and keep the ride at magic kingdom?

In regards to Marvel, Hollywood Studios is the only park where it would truly make sense without some convoluted backstory to shoehorn it in elsewhere. Obviously with the park getting its major overhaul now would be the time to do this. Once they put something else in the SOA area and do all the infrastructure work, parking garage, etc there most likely won't be much expansion space left. Iger is not opposed to spending large amounts of cash to get a return. Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel all were huge expenses, so why not buy the theme park rights for Florida and be done with it? Uni stops paying their competitor to use them and gets a huge influx of cash that they can invest into their parks to replace all the marvel stuff. Disney gets the rights back and can add marvel to DHS during the major overhaul. It's a win for everybody. I think the fact cars land wasn't announced is very telling that something big is going on for that location of the park.the rumor is that they are spending 2.8 bill on studios. Star Wars will be costly I'm sure but toy story land looks like a cheap addition so maybe a chunk of that approval was to buy the theme park rights and then build a marvel land?

I trust that Disney have some pretty neat ideas for the back half of DHS, but there is a small part of me that resents the idea of them changing this area up. I've always had a soft part for that area of the park while others always seemed to hate it. The now deceased Backlot Tour was one of my favourite things and it was always a nice way to cool off/relax in the afternoon. I always liked the Streets of America theme and the HISTK playground was always a childhood favourite mine. Not to mention that being a nerd, I've always liked Pizza Planet as it was always a fun diversion (pizza and video games are like the best combo ever!). But the loss that might sting the most is the potential loss of LMA and the Indy Stunt show, while they are by no means the best shows on the property, they were both massive people eaters and were always a nice diversion to get away from the heat/crowds.

If Disney are only going to replace the above with a handful of attractions, that area of the park is going to become wildly busy and it'll thus lose all of its charm. I'm absolutely delighted about the prospect of Star Wars Land and more Pixar attractions, but it I feel that the "losses" involved dampen my excitement.

(Did I mention that I'm completely opposed to re-themeing DHS? Even if it isn't a functioning studio anymore, I always liked the faux-Hollywood feel, it was always a unique experience in my eyes)

Here's a thought: Put an Indy ride where Pirates is in the Magic Kingdom, open a revamped POTC in HWS.
I always thought the Disneyland version with the restaurant overlooking the water was a million times better than Disney World's.

Possibly. I just don't see the incentive for Uni to do it. I would think the price to be paid for getting Marvel into WDW is pretty steep, probably prohibitively so.
