Spectromagic vs. Electrical Parade

For years, I have detested the Electrical Parade at Disneyland. I have been a fan of Spectromagic since 1994 (my 1st visit). However, does anyone know why I have a feeling that the Electrical Parade has more floats, more characters and more lights than Spectromagic? And the parade in Tokyo is BEAUTIFUL.

Im sorry - I have been watching Disney vids all day and I am in love with the Electrical Parade.

Yea, I have to admit the DL parade has touched me in a way that Spectro does not. I think because there is a little more character interaction than just the typical waving at WDW.

It's the music for me! I absolutely adore the MSEP soundtrack! The floats and characters are wonderfull too...but it's a little thrill of excitement everytime I hear the music!
Spectomagic is beautiful...don't get me wrong...and the color change effect is stunning, but I just love the floats and music of the EP so much more!

And...I also have a plastic light cover from the Electrical...which popped off of the ladybug and landed on my foot! It's a strange and treasured possession!

Hands down, Spectromagic wins. I enjoyed the early version of Spectro but must admit, my children and wife were creeped out by some of the characters in the parade. I love the music, lights and action of the parade.:sohappy:

No question about it. Spectro is all fine and well but I do not believe it will get the send off or reaction that MSEP received or will receive when they decide to run it again. The Florida parade is sitting in storage, collecting dust, and a 40th or 50th anniversary reprisal would be an amazing idea. What about it?

I'm of the opinion that Spectromagic needs some Dreamlights quality upgrades, so naturally I have a lower opinion of a parade that's some 15 years older. I just watched the "enhanced" version of the parade and it's really bad in how dated it is. It needs some serious float upgrades (and not some random pixie dust effects on the side).

I saw the parade when it came back to WDW and although the music is still good and the Elliot float is fun, I'm amazed at how "adored" this 70s Christmas light relic is. Then again it's a generational thing I suppose, so I'm more inclined to like Spectromagic better anyway. That overall has better floats and music for me, but still needs tech upgrades.

Are you talking about the SpectroMen at the start of Spectro? They are face characters, now (no more creepy masks). Now they have creepy noses and face paint but the faces are the actors'. I still haven't decided which version of the SpectroMen is creepier.

I prefer the music with the EP but I have no seen Spectro many more times than EK. So its hard but i think right at this current moment i give the edge to Spectro.

I love the EP music but cant remeber it in person (rumored 2010 when World of Color opens in DCA that it will return home to main street in DL ) so since I cant remeber it ill go with Spectro!

I remember the first time I saw spectro magic I was 3 or at least the first time remembering it and will never forget thinking the PA announcement voices were coming fro the skyalong with Walter Cronkites voice during the fireworks or some announcement I was to little to remember but I remember seeing the fish. It left such a huge impreshion on me and I never get tired of it. This year I was happy to see they refurbished the floats but something didnt seem right they didn blast the music I hope they blast it next time I go.

I love Spectromagic. I actually own the CD music and listen to it frequently.

I liked MSEP, but it just seemed to be lacking something for me.

Nostalgia makes me pick MSEP. I still get goosebumps when I hear this.
