I'll ask him :)

I know one story he mentioned recently about one of the employees he worked with who was in charge of supporting the American Adventure...and the central computer had an issue where if you press enter enough of times in a row, it would cause the attraction to go down (something like that) so several nights even before the park closed, he would cause the attraction to go down so he would go home early.

I THINK thats how he said it, lol. Again this was almost 40 years ago, so details might be cloudy as well.
He must have worked with Steve Alcorn then. I bet there are similar stories to Steve's and your fathers for every Pavillion and country in EC. I can't imagine the challenges faced during the construction and on-lining of SSE.

Right, but JII turntable was removed during the overhaul around 1998, not sure if it was something feasible back then or it was just a cost cutting measure to get rid of it entirely...seeing how cheap it was, I'm guessing it was just to avoid having to deal with it at all
Wasn’t removed.. it was disabled. They simply built the current queue over the track leading to that scene, along with building the current load platform ‘on top’ of the turntable space. But they didn’t remove it. It’s all still there. Just needs to be restored and possibly slightly upgraded with new tech

It's concreted and welded into place. A full gutting and rebuild is needed.

The best part (not really) is we have a company who has spend like what 800 million on GOTG or something silly like that amount... on a ride that can't even open due to still ongoing issues.

But a budget of say a reasonable 100 million to fix a ride that TONS of people love, is out of the question.

I think only part of it is still there because part of the turntable is the queue and part of it is ImageWorks. Considering there is a notable elevation change between the queue and ImageWorks, I'm pretty sure they removed most of it and welded the rest into place.

I hear they are working on the next phase of the “Beacon of Magic” - projecting Bob Chapek’s face into SSE so it’s visible at all times during the day.

MAGIC!!!

SSE will probably happen after epcots 40th, so in a couple years. If covid never happened, Disney would have completed Epcots transformation by now, including SSE refurb and Triple level festival building, but covid shelved them for the time being and delayed everything else
