Spaceship Earth Decent Upgrades?

The script isn't bad, except for those few lines, it is just such a shame after the pure poetry of the Irons narration. The 180top bit is totally uninspired.
I have to disagree...After the AMAZING Matrix Tunnel(so glad she added "glowing with billions of interactions" in there) the way Earth is presented along with the music is visually stunning. Her narration is very subtle and it fits the mood of floating in space looking at this, our Spaceship Earth,perfectly.IMHO.:);)
Oh yes indeed! I can see it now...

"And Rome burned...and burned...and burned..." :ROFLOL:

That totally reminds me of an idea that a buddy and I came up with a few years ago: Guerilla (sp?) Imagineering

Just sneaking into the parks at nights wearing hard hats slowly fixing all the mistakes made over the years.

I couldn't have said that better! :king: That is exactly how I feel about it.

I will consider accent choosing as part of my version.:animwink:

Yes please do. I good Southern country accent would do me right fine. ;)

You may recall in one of the EPIC wand threads I was organizing a posse to handle the wand removal. It was going to be called The Wand Removal Crew. :king: WDW heard about it and decided they better get their butts in gear and take the wand down themselves before someone got hurt.

If you decide to do this Guerilla Imagineering please call me. I can be very stealthy.

There is a video on youtube showing a before and after comparison of the descent 1994 vs. 2007. I wish there was one that would compare all four.

This is so exciting! I have a feeling that the changes are already finished and the suits are just waiting for some fan hype before they reveal the new finale. Let's see what happens...!

OK, this might come out of left field but I was just reading about the satalite at the 180 top that was not removed in 94. Was it removed in the current refurb? Sorry if this questions already been asked.

there were two satelites and two astronauts in 180top from 1982-1994. One astronaut was carrying a satelite repair part, hung from the dome on cables, over the area where those floating news screens in space where in the 1994 version.

The other astronaut was hanging onto a solar pannel of a satelite. Both astronauts, the satelite, and satelite repair part were removed from 180top during the 1994 rehab. The astronauts are now in the FedEx post show at Space Mountain. They are redressed characters and don't look exactly like they did when they were at SSE. No idea what became of the satelite and satelite repair part, but they are gone from 180top.

The satelite when it did exist from 1982-1994 was attatched to a mechanical arm (it really didn't function it was just made to look like one" the mechanical arm was coming from a window in the space station. The space sation is the central core you go down in the 2007 version of the ride, now filled with endless blue lights.

Inside the window....which would be behind you and over the doorway that leads you into the next room of the decent aka former gas clouds room...inside the window was a girl...waving to the astronauts and observing them repairing the satelite.

During the 1994 refurb the space sation was painted over in black. All that remains is the black painted ceiling, which now has the strings of blue light bolted into them. And the window, now painted black. However the entire window itself has been painted over. We don't know if the little animatronic girl is still in there or not. Some say she is, some say she isnt.

In regard to the Living Seas narrator.......Imagine just for a moment....ok I forget what she said after that but then she could say....and spaceship earth is born! all during the ascent,,oooo goosebumps.

along with and it rained and rained and rained of course, for some reason I remember those other two lines and inserted sse. I love how you guys said and rome burned and burned and burned :ROFLOL:

Dench's narration has grown on me and I do like it, but correct its just not the poetry of Irons. If they would only take out the stupid remember your abc's I would be ok with it. And add some music back into the cave man screens right after the ascent, all you hear is her voice over some roaring and there use to be musical score there with a deep faint chant of some sort.

This section has grown on me alot aswell, during the previews the script was "networked, online, poised to shape the future of Spaceship Earth" now it has been changed to "poised to shape the future of this, our Spaceship Earth" which is also read slightly slower and the previews spiel and is one of those lines that makes the hairs on my arms stand up. It is perfect when timing is correct aswell as you should exit the matrix tunnel and see the earth at the same time as she says "Spaceship Earth" although sometimes it is slightly out.

Martin has it in the new 2007 SSE Tribute.:D

No no no, Spaceship Earth has nothing to do with Horizons. Different spirit, different everything.
Aaaaactually...If you look at the first ideas for Horizons(Century III,FutureProbe) in the late 1970's and the 1980's Horizons was going to be a show with the slant on history...However that got changed to a Future show when the GE Peeps wanted a show more geared to what THEY produced.

So this is like "The the Horizon that never was-is finaly here":lol::D

I know that this is going to sound like a 'DUH!' question but...can someone tell me what they removed in the decent? I visited in August for my honeymoon and could't for the life of me rememeber what was taken out. I do have to say that I do not like the new touch screens, although if you make really funny faces when you take picture, it makes for a HILARIOUS ending to the ride!

The Tomorrow's Child song was probably the only thing that kept the 86 ending from being awful. I still like the 94 music better but maybe because it has special memories for me.(first went in 99.)
On a good day, if your car was timed right, the `86 finale was one of the most spine-tingling endings in the park.

Now I`m showing my age.

Everything essentially. The pepper ghost scene effects on the right side, along with the glitter city, the overhead light effects, and the model of the hanging SSE, oh also the classroom scene that was up on the left side as you descend. Also all of the grand musical score of course
