Yep to Vic Perrin.
As sad as it is, I just recently figured out that that is the same narrator as for the Universe of Energy Kinetic Mosaic pre-show, as well as for one of the EPCOT Center preview films. :hammer:

Good man.Ahh we have to see, I will be in Epcot on new years eve and new years day, maybe I will have to stand in front of the doors until they throw away the keys and keep it open.
Leche?HAHAHA as long as he is not confusing desert and dessert. Teh foodz grammar is muy importante.
It would have been nice if the Horizons Space theme had been implemented into the 180 top of SSE!!! I know it was a Horizons score but it was a beautiful peice of grand music that for some reason I can just hear in my head as fitting into the top of SSE. Whats in there now can just not be heard enough and its quite weak musically anyway.
Since SSE *is* technically Horizons 5.0() it would work...You could even calll the loading area the FururePort.

The only thing they need to redo is the cool ending the old one used to have. With the music and 1980's style flash gordon lighting! Although the screen was fun and made us laugh, i could hear other people laughing as well.....better than sitting in the dark thinking about the future!

Thanks Expo...Very interesting! Before Merf was killed off the wdwmagic show, he videotaped the SSE decent in March 2007 and posted the video online. There has been more progress made in the decent than what his video shows.
Here is a link to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQblM-43rxA
Now I am not using the youtube version, I'm using a quicktime version thats brighter so I can see more than what the youtube version shows.
Points of interest:
Opening shot is of the then newly installed and wdwmagic dubbed "angler bulbs" strings of blue lights not there in december that humoursely reminded us of the angler fish. This is the scene right past the worm tunnel of infinite blue lights. Basically the lights slightly go on into this scene and quickly "fade" away. This scene is where the gas clouds scene was in the 1994 version.
When I saw this scene in January 07, there were no blue bulbs, and all there was was some thin stretched out and stapled black star curtains.
By the 12th second of the film we are heading down where the old pepper's ghost effect was, where we saw people talking on videophones. There were star curtains in this scene as well, but they seem to be turned off when Merf filmed the ride in March 07. Perhaps the Milky Way didn't pay it's electricity bill?
At 1:09 in my quicktime version (very hard to see in the youtube version) we see a pattern of blue triangles however Merf is already in the area just about to pass where the floating model of SSE used to be. He has his lens zoomed to where this blue triangle is. He zooms out to reveal a weird pattern of blue triangles. These blue triangles are where glitter city used to be. He did take a flash photo of this location at some point, and revealed all of glitter city gone, all the way to the soundproof panneled walls, and these triangles installed in its place.
From then on Merf pans around the final corridor, once home to a floating SSE model and fiber optics, and as of March 07 home to blue triangles above everyone (More were later installed) and at the very end some twinkling blue and white lights.
HAH!Usted sabe de lo que tengo gusto.

I like Tom already!Just from the perspective of a frequent SSE flyer, the touch screens really do detract from the ride. My husband has become increasingly annoyed with the questions and the "future" they project and lately he refuses to answer them. :ROFLOL:It just gets old. I guess it is likely because we are there so much and ride often, but if it has gotten old already in the 6 months that I've been riding it, does it really have the staying power?
Nooooo. That's why they need to get their butts in gear with finishing the descent.
Nope...No music...Just some Science vids and trippy lights.Martin and Mousebits have that. Now for the Perrin version did they have the "Triangle" screens in the descent?
Now for the Perrin version did they have the "Triangle" screens in the descent?
Now I don't have any "inside" things as of now regarding how the decent will effect the screens, because Siemens invested alot of money in this technology and it is an important part of the ride i.e. selecting language, where you live, photo, etc.
However, while one can still expect to watch their video at the end, I wouldn't rule out a change of WHERE you watch your video in the end.
If......if the ending completely goes tomorrow's child 2.0 or siemen's generation 21 campaign, I wouldn't be too suprise to select where we live immediately after we select a language, and then answer the touch screen questions on the acent, and then have our picture taken and then our screens turn off.
Then our video turns on and plays from the gas clouds to the end of glitter city and either turns off or dims down and from glitter city to the very end of the ride we encounter whatever scene this finished decent will show. Some final message from Siemens.
What is interesting about this is:
From start "welcome to the future, or should I say your future" through most popular video "leisure" to "the end, or should I say the beginning of your future" lasts 1 minute and 20 seconds
A one angle video of the 1994 Irons version shows the moment we enter the gas clouds room to glitter city, takes just under 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Interestingly, the Tomorrow's Child ending, also went from the glitter city area to the very end of the ride.
I wouldn't rule out a decent that not only is fun AKA seing out future, but including a better and more Siemen's esque ending.
I like Tom already! But seriously...Is each little video really that different?I think I have only 3-5 different ones.
I believe the only things that were changed from the perrin version was the narration and music but its been a while since I watched martins video so I may be forgetting.
Also, what has changed about the newspaper boy and the band since SSE reopened back in december? Is the paperboy still in the back facing away from riders or have they changed him?

HAHAHA yeah Tom's good. But he knows what he likes and chooses the same options each time. :hammer:
I go a lot without him so I have chosen enough to see about the same number of different options as you. I need to be an uber-geek and just bring a notebook and write down what I choose and what the end result was. I took pics of the whole thing the last time I rode (when I got the one where you grow your own veggies) just to remind me of what we chose....but I need to be more scientific. (If that is possible for a Pisces) :lookaroun:lol:
:sohappy:I am OK with this and if you think about ride-time managment and eliminating the "down time" that the riders have where they are moving with no stimulus, then yeah, they can keep it all - just rearrange and compress - and still be able to make something in the descent that is eye-candy.
Basically that is what I want - something to look at on my 100th ride when I don't care what my future is. I just want to look at cool theming. And I want my freaking glitter city. :king:
OOOH...Being scientific in EPCOT!I love it!
*drives up to Shan and helps her with SSE Recordings*
WOW - you are a wealth of information! I didn't know that either. Are you going to be at WWW anytime this weekend? Tom and I are going to be there Thurs through Sunday. :sohappy:
