I, like 99.9% of you am glad this is a RUMOR because SSE is one of my favorites. Although it's not a "roller coaster" it is still thrilling and gives me goosebumps.

Meanwhile, why is it that we always have toi have this damn discussion once every few months. I cartainly don't fault the person who just joined for asking the question. The rumor keeps floating around and won't go away.
Here's the deal. SE is not going to be a roller coaster. they can't do it. it's physically impossible, not to mention that MKT, Grizz and I along with many others who love the parks would go to Epcot and start a riot.

I haven't been to WDW (or SSE) since late '97 but I was feeling the charm of SSE up to the ride's end. If memory serves, they showed a scenario about possible "future technologies," that included a Whity Whity White Boy talking to an Asian Girl through Video Phones, and the Asian Girl says something like "Wow (Boy's Name), you are one cool dude." It just rang so untrue, like it's what some marketing wiz thought kids sounded like. Maybe Jersey is just really jaded, but I think if anybody in my neck of the woods called anybody else a really cool dude, the receipient of the compliment would get optic nerve damage from rolling their eyes in the back of their head too far. I personally think the ride could stand with a bit of updating to address the staleness of what was once current, but other than that, I'd hate to see it go entirely.

Yup... the ride needs to be updated. From the scene you described on down, the ride needs to be updated. There's no question about it.
But, it doesn't have to be gutted and completely changed. Like the stupid rumor says...

We had fun with the topic. funny how so many know about rcdb.com, where that joke came from. lol :lol: . anyhow, the rumers are pretty dead, but a rehab. would be very nice. I love SSE. so gald the rumers were put to rest. Hey, they can always build another building like they did for soarin' if they want a coaster. 2 geosperes perhaps :lol: make it look like mickey ears from the air. lol. :lol: anyhow, the rumers are dead and for many good and logical reasons.

How ironic is this stupid rumor. It goes with what Grizz was saying about the State of Epcot. Epcot was created to be a learning experience. And yet rumors float around about getting rid of the classic rides for 2 minute thrill rides.

And, yes, people have a tendency to forget why Epcot was built in the first place... it's upsetting. Hopefully, like I said earlier today, this rumor will die.

J, i thought it was a dead issue to begin with. Just by looking at construction photos of SSE, its obvious that the ominmover track helps support the entire structure. Besides, its a good ride. Latest rumors are Nextel or Motorolia taking over sponsorship.
