Space Mountain. - Too much turbulence?

Honestly, until this past trip in December I never remembered it being so turbulent. I don't think it changed but I just guess I never took too much notice of it. I still LOVE the ride, and I will still continue to ride it, however, I will agree It doesn't quite feel like I'm gliding through space.:D

Darker and faster makes it better? The backseat of a car is darker and faster than both of them. So it's the best? You guys are arguing preference and opinions...

Well like you said, it depends on preference. When I think of a fun coaster, I think of fast, maybe even rickety, maybe smooth. I myself would rather ride a smoother, faster ride than a slower, rickety one. But like you said, it depends on the person.

Put it away and stop the ing contest. No one is saying that we are fragile.

I am. I rode it recently, and I didn't have any "pain." If that's the case, you probably have issues related to your age or have too large of a BMI as previously mentioned.

This coaster is tame by roller coaster standards. The fact that people want to tone it down even more into a kiddy ride that isn't as thrilling is sad. I don't know what kind of Magic Kingdom fan doesn't like Space Mountain, but I guess that's what's happens when you become a hyper critic.

But yeah Disney Land's is better because they tore it down then rebuilt it into something that sucked. Because that's the only thing that matters, that the TDO spent money, right? XD

Try getting a few more posts under you before you come in with both guns blazing and end up making a fool of yourself. ;)

I see you do that on a regular basis. You must be a master at it then with that post count.

Sorry, but the "same here" comparison doesn't fit. His BMI is well within the normal range. Your BMI makes you obese.

Not fat. Sorry to disappoint you. It actually concerns me that you went straight to a fat joke when you saw my weight. Here's a tip genius, muscle weighs more than fat. I have not been obese in my life. ;)

A pound of muscle and a pound of fat weight the same amount. With a BMI over 30 it would be in your best interest to reduce your weight. Your prior comparison was not valid due to your excessive weight.

Gonna be hard to lose all that muscle in his hands.

That's what happens on a discussion forum

I love it and ride by myself because husband doesn't like. Sometimes I'll go on it 3 or 4 times by myself by using husband's fastpass. He enjoys himself by going on Wedway (it will always be Wedway to me.) As I get older I enjoy the rollercoasters more and more. I guess I'm in my 2nd childhood. HA! HA!

I have to say that the first time I went on space mountain it gave me a bad headache too. I was miserable the whole day. I was much more prepared after that and was fine on my second trip

Space Mountain is a classic thrill ride. TDO should just ignore the doom and gloomers that have to find something to hate in everything. Like people have said, if you want a tame kiddy ride, go sit on It's a Small World. The younger people that aren't constantly complaining "ohhhh my back!" don't need to be punished because you're past your primes. The slightly rougher ride is part of the great experience of this coaster.

You people obviously have never been on any roller coasters if you think that it's really that rough. A rough roller coaster is any wooden roller coaster that will certainly shake you up 1,000 times more than at any point on Space Mountain. If you want rides that treat you like fragile babies, you have plenty of other choices.

You can actually say nearly exactly the same without being unnecessarily rude to others. I tell you that because you just joined.

Oh, the hostility shown in perfectly innocent threads!

Relax, take it easy. This is just a Disney site!

Exactly what comes into my mind so many times when I see a thread turn ugly! We are taking about theme parks for gods sake, not about the US military engagement in Afghanistan or paranoid conspiration theories! I don't curse any one because he would like a more gentle ride on SM, I just give my two cents and want to know how others think about it.
The same with FP and FP-policy, Brazilian Tour groups etc. etc.

There are REAL moderators here too and if you continue with your, sorry, rude and increasingly insulting behaviour you will probably find out by yourself.

You haven't stopped critisizing others since you have been here, what does that make you?

But yet you stated that only liftoff and jettison is is bumpy? Initially I listed those to until I pointed out that not even the part you thought was smooth would not be. Ahhh, I view the point rather clearly and it is others not comprehending. Facts in a theme park discussion hurts some feelings... or egos :king:

It's interesting that the part of my post that you chose to highlight was not really the point I was making (a point which, once again you have missed either for real or are just pretending to miss in order to be argumentative). What I, and others, are saying is that the bumpiness on Space Mountain is very likely not intended to simulate the technical aspects of space travel that you've pointed out. You brought up liftoff and rocket jettison, neither of which are part of the experience that Space Mountain simulates so I'm not really sure what your reason was for bringing that up, except perhaps to make your position appear stronger (a classic straw man argument). Futuristic space travel, in the manner that Space Mountain portrays, is not something that I think most of us imagine to be bumpy and painful, and I don't think the Imagineers ever intended Space Mountain to portray it that way. Now perhaps we're all wrong and Space Mountain is meant to educate us on the more realistic aspects of space travel which you've pointed out...but I doubt it. It seems unlikely that a ride which takes place in an open air vehicle as opposed to a pressurized cabin with oxygen is intended to be all that realistic. But somehow I think you know that too and are just trying to build a case to convince us that the painful ride experience is all part of a well thought out plan on the part of the people who built it.
